You’re saying something is fine despite there being many claims to the contrary, even by the guy who designed this game during its debut at Evo. It’s incredibly asinine to see that exchange and just inject “I can feel the difference in GGPO but I’ve played both versions of HDR and I couldn’t feel a difference.”
What were you trying to say then? You just so happened to feel it’s worth noting when folks are saying “There’s input lag, we should test.” Clearly you can’t feel a difference, but you make mention of this when folks are talking about making a finalized test? It’s incredibly dumb to step into the conversation with something like that. Let’s get a test, not a bunch of people with back to back anecdotes and no evidence.
Seriously, why did you say it? What was the point?
This kind of input is a constant in these discussions, I guess you’re unfortunately the guy I just felt should know better.
FWIW, I haven’t forgotten about that. I sent PM’s to the guys that maintain the CE and HF threads to get their input and wanted to wait a bit to get more people’s feedback on what everyone thinks the ideal orginization would be. Crayfish(HF guy) has stopped in there, but I haven’t heard anything from the CE guy yet.
Sometime in the next week or so I’ll go through everyone’s input and try to come up with a v2.0 proposal. If we discuss that a bit and most people seem to like it, then I’ll try to talk to the higher ups and see if we can get it to happen. :wgrin:
Heh, I wouldn’t throw my money away. From day 1, I’ve been dead certain that something(s) is(are) different between XBox and PS3 HDR. But as you wisely pointed out, without real tests we can’t say what the difference(s) is(are). Is it input lag? Is it slower? Is it normally the same speed, but slows down more during special effects? Does it drop more inputs during hit/block slowdown? Is it some combination of those? Are there other differences/problems? I don’t know. All I know is that the PS3 feels different to me.
The PS3 certainly looks and sounds worse. And swapping controllers on it is (even) more problematic than on XBox HDR. So, based on those things alone I’m comfortable advocating XBox over PS3. I also think it’s also OK to acknowledge that PS3 “feels different” in some mysterious way to many people, and since most people practice on XBox that’s another good reason to prefer XBox. But, I think that’s about all we can say with certainty unless someone does some proper testing.
Corrosive and Aqua: Let it go or take it to PMs. This debate has happened a ton of times before. There is currently NO evidence, so everyone’s experience and gut feelings are just as valid, and yet meaningless, as everyone elses. Just let it go…
Just a request, but if someone does input lag testing, could you test what exactly network smoothing affects? I suspect that (at least on PSN), it adds input lag to your opponent instead of yourself, but don’t have any evidence.
Also, I found It doesn’t have any sort of indicator for when the button was pressed besides it looking in the video like it was pressed, but it likely isn’t off by more than a frame or two. Looking at the numbers, I can’t believe I put up with it. 7 frames total + any network smoothing…
Agree, I talked to Sirlin about his when I played at his house, he said that the game was made to be played on the Xbox 360 platform not PS3, which he thinks adds to some differences if any. Never played PS3 before so I am not adding to anyones argument, just stating the facts
Why did I say it? Because for the past 2 years I’ve heard about offline issues with the PS3 from DGV, Sirlin and others which had me a little worried because I was going to Evo this year and the PS3 was going to be the first time I played on that system which I thought would have had an impact on my performance. But I haven’t noticed any major differences when I first playtested it. So, I posted my thoughts.
Am I saying that you guys are wrong who believe something is up with the PS3 version? No.
Because the majority thinks something is up with the PS3 version, does that all of a sudden make it a fact? Apparently, that’s what you believe, based on your attack on me. A few of you in this thread have already set in stone that the PS3 version has lag, so no one is allowed to post if they think otherwise? There is no proof yet as to who is right or wrong (Which I never argued in the first place), so how are you just going to attack someone like that?
I ask you… And think about it…
Was this a subject to get all defensive/upset about? Isn’t there other topics this aggression could have been directed towards? I find this to be a funny subject for that to happen.
If you want to continue to rip my throat out, then lets take it to PM.
I just watched a vid showing that there’s 3 frames of input lag on the PS3 version of HDR. As far as that wall of text Aqua Snake posted, he said something stupid and now there’s video evidence of there being 3 frames of lag. Works for me.
“Feels fine to me.” No need for PMs, I think the vid is enough.
<Shari> How come we get stupid polls about Daigo but never got any interview or similar from Snake Eyez who came out of nowhere and Wins EVO with Zangief, EVO being his second tournament ever beating tons of legendary players along the way.
Tried getting this question on the podcast but no dice :’<
Edit: Got a response in the IRC:
<FMJaggy> Shari: I understand your concern, but it’s still early, there are still years of hdr intrerviews to come
** there are still years of hdr intrerviews to come**
It’s not conjecture. Expect more information on SFII’s presence at EVO to be revealed within the next two weeks. Arcade CPSII has not been ruled out yet.
