Why you should play Persona 4 Arena:

Don’t put too much faith on the “August 31st” release date. Its most likely a placeholder

Zen United is also in charge for Europe… gl hope it actually does happen on the 31st

This was seriously great.

now a proud owner of the game guys, and so far it is epic.

I’m going to secure myself a copy later. See you in the midnight channel.

Guess I won’t pre-order it until I know it’s official. I imagine it will come out here. Every Persona and every BB game has had an EU release, so I don’t see why not.

Yeah speak of the devil, now the day is september 7th for euro. Hope this is the real thing and Zen United pulls through. I was realistically expecting Late september-early October. It WILL come to Euro, but the question really is WHEN

I plan on maining Chie - not sure why, but I’m attracted to her style even though she wasn’t my favorite P4 character. Some questions!

  1. Are there any dive kick characters? Or is that not really an attribute in a game like this?

  2. Any command grab oriented characters outside of Kanji? And are command grabs punishable on whiff like in SF4 or more like 3S where you can still block if they jump sometimes?

  3. Are the majority of combos chains or links? Combos seem like Target Combos but with specific rhythm.

  4. Why are Aegis and Mitsuru top tier? Just overall, or can they spam certain options? Unbearable, safe oki? Damage?

  1. Uh, Yu’s about as close as you can get to a Dive Kick character. He has a Dive Kick, though it’s really not all that useful for pressure. His Swift Strike is dive kick like though I guess.

  2. No, Kanji’s pretty much the only CG character (unless you really think Elizabeth’s 5D is that central to her game to categorize her as one). And Kanji’s CG’s are punishable on whiff, but its recovery isn’t THAT bad so you’ll have to be close or quick to make sure.

  3. Combination of both. For the most part chains, but incorporating specials and comboing afterwards for most characters requires link timing (ex. Yu going from 214+C in the corner into 5A).

  4. Aegis is top for essentially being a Marvel character in this game. In Orgia mode she essentially has tri-jump mixups at a tap of a direction, and when she hits you it hurts. She also has decent zoning in her other mode as long as you have bullets for the round so she can play a patient game while Orgia Mode fills back up.

4b. Mitsuru is top due to ridiculous normals, solid (and somewhat easy) pressure, GREAT Persona moves, good R-Action (that on Counter Hit leads to Bufudyne and more damage), solid oki setups courtesy of her Ice Mirror, one of the better auto-combos in the game (YMMV), ability to charm the opponent and gain a ton of meter in the process, and ability to play a range game due to her Persona’s D moves.

Remember though, although they’re top tier, they don’t hold a ridiculous advantage over everyone else short of a couple of matchups. These characters do not win free.

Dang. We have got to hold on till 8/7 while some of you get on the pre-release hype. That soundtrack bonus is too good for me to pass up though.

You forgot to mention Mitsuru’s ridiculous advantage of being more baller than anyone else. Ride up in a limo, whup some ass, then toss your mink coat on em like HOLD THIS, you ain’t shit!

Needless to say, new main.

how reset heavy is the game, or how reset heavy do you think it will be?
are throws a command, or towards plus normal, and how ‘good’ are throws (how much startup on average, do they have whiff animations, do they lead to strong set up situations, etc)

these are things which are important to ME

It’s not very reset heavy due to the ability to delay tech and all of that, but it’s INSANELY oki based (especially if your name is Chie…).

Throws are a command (C+D), they’re as good as the certain character’s throw is but usually damn good in the corner as most can convert into a strong combo, yes there are whiff animations, and again, depending on the character they lead into great combos.

Really, other than asking are Throws are a command, most of those things are all dependent on what character you’d want to play.

Thanks! I was hoping for throws to be a direction and a button, but I can deal. I will be defintely giving this game a fair try

Haha, I saw it on the SRK homepage right after I posted here.
I was expecting October, when I saw the word ‘DELAY’. It’s only being delayed a week, so not too bad… I hope.

just got the game today
i can say i like it but its kind of hectic, i guess its from playing footsie heavy games lately, but its still a good game.
the guy who made the thread is right
its balanced, easy to pick up, and its made by arc. you cant resist arc. i couldnt.

There’s a bit of footsie. But the game is so dash heavy you need to be on your toes a lot haha. I love it. Whiff punishes are so rewarding.

yeah, a lot of fun in capatalizing on your opponents mistakes, especially the people i have seen throwing random supers, since you can high jump AND air dash and dr doom their ass with Yu.

first of many P4A videos to come

regarding dive kicks, if you consider yu’s swift strike as a dive kick then akihiko’s assault dive could be considered as one.
and for command grabs elizabeth can grab with thanatos but it very punishable on whiff.

I have been playing the game for about a day now. I really want to play aigis but I don’t understand her. Yu is pretty nuts, his oki and damage output is pretty awesome. So far I can kill someone with just 2 confirms. I wouldn’t say this game is on KoF level execution, but I do find myself getting screwed over if I sleep on the buttons.

If you are wondering, GET THIS GAME.
