games having terrible net code in 2012 almost 2013 is so fucking stupid
I would play this game if it weren’t for the terrible net code. My scene won’t touch this game but if I could play it online and learn, it wouldn’t matter. Net code seems to be input delay based and there is no way in fuck its going to work well online in the USA. It hasn’t worked for MK9, kof 13, all the sf4 versions and 2 versions of mvc3, why in the fuck would you try to make that work?
for fucks sake video game companies, good online = better sales every time
Funny since I said a grand total of none of that. I haven’t mentioned SFxT once since I even returned to the site, you’re the one saying games aren’t that good now and that you wanted to only play 2D games with good netcode. Never said once about balancing is bad, hell the balancing for FGs is MUCH superior than in older years, both KOFXIII and P4A are some of the most balanced games released that I’ve honestly seen. Whether the gameplay is worth it is up to you, but seeing as I enjoy KOF when not online, and P4A looks good, I’d say so. Support your local arcade…what? I don’t really give a damn if people like my posts or not, I say what I believe.
If you can’t play HDR, go play ST. ST as you should’ve seen, still has a damn good player base with great competition, and being on GGPO, has good netcode. 3SOE is unfortunate however.
On most games on GGPO, the competition is extremely good. Look on KOF98, look on VSav, ST, whatever. You’re gonna find killers. It’s honestly a lot easier to find killers on GGPO than it is on “relevant” games because you don’t have to wade through a ton of shitty players just to get to the good ones.
Actually, it’s damn possible. Do you know how many older games are played at big tourneys away from the stream? Guilty Gear, VSav, ST, 3S, and at a decent amount, you could see XvSF and MvC2, and most of them run side tourneys.
Shoultz, due to my respect for you, I’m gonna say this calmly. Go away, I have this handled, I do not have the time nor patience to deal with you today as well.
What I wrote in the beginning was just what most ppl write on srk to get free likes. Your post about how pathetic players are nowadays is just one of those things you start expecting to read here because you know ppl like to read shit like that.
I live in Sweden and there is only one real tourney here for FGs and that’s dreamhack. This year there were just 2 games; sf4 & sfxt. Even the most popular FGs are barely played so I’m stuck playing sf4 if I ever would want to compete.
Yup, I bought mvc3 and that was unplayable. Then I bought umvc3 thinking the netplay was gonna be better but it wasn’t. I also bought Kof13 which is completely unplayable as well and I also got tekken6 and mk9. The only recent game that had a OK netcode was sfxt but then they made it worse and ruined the game anyways.
Have you not played BB or AH3 online? They’re very playable, or at least were for me when I was playing them, and I tend to dislike online play in general.
I really like the style of P4A and have been thinking about picking it up; having no experience with the series, I wanted to familiarize myself with the story. Don’t take this the wrong way, but this is a terrible suggestion, because the anime fucking sucks, and probably isn’t doing the game any justice.
Just want to point out that, yes, the anime does suck - but the main reason people suggest to just watch the anime is because actually playing P4 from beginning to end takes a looooong time. It’s worth it, but if you’re just getting caught up on the story because you wanna play P4A, the anime is the way to go for it. It’s not as good as the game, but at least you know what’s going on.
Alternatively, you could just watch this:

…which takes even less time and is actually a lot better than the anime! :wow:
Ok, the anime quality granted (especially in the 1st season) made animations look pretty bad. However, in terms of ACCURACY to the story and side quests for Persona 4 rpg for the 25-26 episodes they got, for that granted they did a great job. The pacing at times can be iffy(especially the pilot), but they covered majority of the stuff if you minus the dungeon grinding and some minor irks(alice for one).
They included the class trip, the school festival, Summer Vacation, Naoto arc, Bath house, The Kings game(favorite scene),episodes/moments dedicated to Narukami Social Links, the dungeon fights for all the shadows (yes the party does not have their weapons, but realistically in the anime how would they stash a bunch of weapons without the convience of a rpg backpack mechanic without changing the plot?), etc etc etc. They nailed the characters with the original VA and got their personalities from Yukiko laughing spasm to Nanako acting adorable. The anime is filled with Game references as well (from the calendar, NPC character cameos (Funky Student for one), the Tanaka Show, Majority of Narukami Personas showed up achieving most/all the arcanas, Nanako singing Junes, The “burning Up” symbol, the “all out attack” symbol, The growth pie chart, and especially the Game soundtrack was ported faithfully. Also sorry, Narukami was not gonna spend 25-26 episodes going “…” or “Persona!” the whole time so him being a little more social and having emotions is expected for the anime adaption.
Yes the original anime run aimed for the neutral end (explains that huge timeskip and the lack of you know who which some faithful fans would find disgusting) and Christmas was skipped sadly (however its not that big of a deal since the anime is not making Narukami having any special feelings to any specific female party member.) However, The true end (episode 26) is included in the dvd (Igor even showed his special orb around the end indicating its shooting for true end) with the anime Movie adaption even having more content covering some of the few missing content from the original anime run.
Am i saying the anime is the better option overall then the rpg? Hell no. If you have time to invest I HIGHLY suggest playing the rpg first to get the better experience. Hell, You even appreciate the anime better if you played the rpg first since you notice the references and cameos. However, If you don’t have 80+ hours to invest and just want to know what the plot and characters are and the overall FEEL of persona 4 in a more quicker fashion then the anime is the way to go. Especially if you want to know in time before P4U drops in NA.
In short, its fine saying you hated that anime for whatever reason, but saying it was “probably not doing the game justice” made me scratch my head in bewilderment. Highly doubt they would have gone noticeably closer to “justice” even if they tried, which just implies you have not watched the anime at all and only heard shady internet rumors.
I’m halfway through the anime series and I’ve found it pretty good so far… really funny at times, too. It’s great for people like me who want to get to know the characters a little better, but don’t want to invest all that time into the game(s).
It was probably the wrong phrase to use, as from what I have read (and you and others here have said), the anime is quite faithful to the story of the game. However what I meant was that while the game might be exceptional, the show is really bad, and doesn’t do the franchise any service (in terms of garnering interest for the series).
I watched up to episode 8 before giving up on the show. I may pick it back up and try to finish the rest of the episodes, but it’s unlikely. I really don’t know where shady internet rumors fits in to all of this, but whatever.
Thats fine then, its your opinion which i can respect that, however i assumed “shady internet rumors” because you made it sound like you did not watch the anime adaption(using “probably not even doing justice” didn’t help the misunderstanding and led to said logical conclusions) at all and gave your judgement based on word-of-mouth on the internet or whatever. I’ll take some of that back then since you said you watched the series to a certain extent and reworded what you initially meant. In any case, yes the overall anime was “meh” to the average non-persona series fan (Blame the pacing, the animation budget in first season, lackluster ending).
However, my point was if you could care less about quality and want a “fast food experience” of Persona 4 so you won’t feel so confused in the upcoming Persona 4 Arena story mode then the anime is the way to go.
I said it was probably not doing the game justice because I have not played any of them, so I have no idea whether or not they are any good. And if I had to form an opinion on the series, with only the anime to go off of, it would not be a favorable one. That was my meaning.
I agree with your point though, I just wish the show wasn’t such a chore to watch.
Why is everyone saying this isn’t coming out in Europe?
It’s on the amazon.co.uk with a release date for August 31st.
I’m just really looking forward to this game because I love the Persona games. I also liked Guilty Gear a lot… back on the PS1. XD Hopefully there is some community support for it. But I wouldn’t expect to see it at too many American majors.
Im really considering buying the game more and more each time i see it. playing it for a couple mins at e3 left a curious feeling in my noggin. i had no i idea how to play besides mashing lol. i might get it not sure yet.
It’s good. The mashing is okay, but once you realize it doesn’t do you that much of a favor then it’s time to hit the lab and find some good setups and bigger combos.
