Why you should play Persona 4 Arena:

Narukami has like 3 “dive kicks” but they have varying purposes, but he is not a dive kick heavy character ala Rufus

Yeah, it’s like I said. If you HAVE to diagnose someone as a Dive Kick character, you could call Yu one, but he’s not centered around them like the usual Dive Kick characters.

They gave Narukami a divekick and figured he’d be S tier but testing made it apparent it wasn’t enough to fight Mitsuru. So they gave him a divesword.

(Number 13’s remarks slightly edited in my quote)

Having choices is exactly my problem as of late. This is actually one of my favorite things about the current state of fighting games; there are so many enjoyable ones that I’m having to ask myself, “Which ones do I devote my time to? I can’t play all of them full-time!” Sure, I’m annoyed by having to make that kind of decision… but having a question where there aren’t many wrong answers, just ones that are ‘more right’, is pretty nice when I think about it.

Having a built-in fanbase will probably help it, yes. That said, I’ve found familiarity with Persona isn’t all that important in appreciating this game. I only know a little about the setting, storyline, and characters… and have been enjoying my time with it regardless. People who like both Persona and fighting games will probably be even happier with it than I am, but this is definitely a case where the franchise is a bonus on top of something that is already pretty good.

Edit: On a lighter and unrelated note, Kanji’s winposes are amazing. Nearly every one of them I’ve seen so far is either him throwing a temper tantrum or being a boss.

How would everyone compare this gameplay to skullgirls? Random question but I like the fighting gameplay in skullgirls so much for some reason and that was aparently made by using sone of gulity gears features. So yeah, is the gameplay similar?

Skullgirls is 6 button while Persona is 4 button without any DP or 360 motions i believe. Also there is ex moves which SG did not have.

Point: Both game plays different without me having to get too in depth

One thing is for sure and indisputable there isn’t a fighting game in history with more talking. Holy Jeez!

As fighting game fan and player of P3 and P4, I enjoy every moment of this game. If you want to get more from P4A or if you are curious, play P3 and P4. I thought the RPG was a game for little kids, but I admitted defeat; these games were awesome and now I get to play another cool game.

I can vouch the games DOES have 30-40 hour story if you go at default speed and not speed run it(repeatedly tap A and not read story). SO much text and VA work -_-. Hell even some characters have more then 1 ending depending on the dialogue choices you pick. They even have “To be continue” so you can’t even finish that 1 character story until you do other characters. Spent a good majority part of yesterday grinding the story and like 55% complete only (since most of my characters hit “continues”). At this pace, i would probably finish somewhere between 30-40 hours.

footsies are only a tiny part of the spacing game, and there is a lot of that actually

went to three different game stores today each one was sold out, finall landed at a gamestop and had one copy left for 360  ive been watching a lot of matches and heard nothing but good things, cant wait to get into this!

Yeah all the non-preorders at my local gamestop were sold out by day 2. My friend has to get his online since he does not want to hunt down a copy by driving

Game is in the mail and I’m looking forward to playing it. I played BB and really liked it (but had nobody to play with) but I’ll hang onto this one I think.

PSN is Yewni. Feel free to add me.

Local gamestop had a ton of copies for both consoles. I bought a copy but have yet to actually play it as I’ve been watching the first look web vids and trying to understand the mechanics that are different to what I used to play. But I’ve been a casual fan of the GG series and am wanting to focus more on non Capcom games.

Back to the question of why you should play P4A. It’s simple, really.

This game is hella fun!

Picked it up a few days ago. While I still prefer KOF XIII, I have to say that this game is pretty darn fun. Haven’t tried the online yet, though I’m sure the Japanese will bop me as soon as I manage to get on…

Game is still new to NA where most of rank consists of people trying to auto combo so i doubt you would get bopped that badly

I don’t play against Americans. Internet connection is too bad to try to do so.

I think its pretty accessible to players of all skill levels and so far netplay as been great for me.
