I don’t expect Mark to disclose sales figures and such, but based on their marketing lately it’s become abundantly clear that PC gaming is MadCatz’s target market and primary demographic, irrespective of fighting games. If anything, he’s gone on record saying he’s the one pushing for them to retain their focus on the FGC. Fighting games don’t sell keyboards, mice and headsets quite like MOBA, RTS and FPS games do. If Street Fighter wants a chance to succeed on a larger scale, the answer is PC, not Xbox.
Until they fucked up the netcode with that Steam patch, PC AE was THE best version of SF4. I’m hoping more fighting games wind up on PC especially because PS3 is likely the last console I’ll buy.
Hard to judge…KI’s online is great, but the only comparison on the FG front for PS4 is…
Injustice…which was still complete trash online just like the last gen versions.
I’m sure SG Encore will be fine since developers are fairly competent,
but nobody can trust Capcom, SNK, NRS. Who knows WTF will happen lol
Beyond that, with how abysmally lazy devs are being with the whole online part of games “working” across both platforms, only thing worth mentioning atm is MS is running 300,000 dedicated servers for games, Sony isn’t.
Hope Capcom gets SFV netcode and PC cross play right…
Technically, by their nature, these things already are dedicated. And with Sony onboard, I doubt they’re just gonna phone this in, since Sony will want to showcase PSN with this.
Honestly, I’m more concerned about whether or not Sony will allow online play for this without the need for PSN+ the same way certain games allow for it, especially with the PC crossplay.
i kinda like that it’s for ps4 and pc exclusive with crossplatform play. no offense to those who already own or want to own an xbone but this will have the whole community together. it would be nice for example if KI was on all platforms but it’s not. that’s just the way it works now a days. sucks but whatever. we used to buy consoles for specific games and if every console has almost every game what’s the point?
“As you guys can see, the partnership has only just begun and it’s already a huge win for the community.”
Well I think from that we can truly believe that it won’t stop only with SFV, and I have to say I have a 360 and still wait more few months to see which one I get, but Im fucking excited to see whats coming in the next months!
I like the exclusivity deal no confusion over platform which ones better etc etc if your an sf player you need 1 stick and that’s it. It actually in the long run is gonna save most people a lot of headache. Lets all be honest here too if your in the minority of people who own an xbone but is a hardcore sf player your used to spending ~$200 for just a controller not to mention extra revisions of the game, oh and lets not forget traveling expenses for events etc. Shit I lived an hour from where UFGT used to be held and it still cost about $350/weekend for that event. $400 for a new console isn’t that much of a stretch for you, and when I say you, I say the guy reading srk, that plays using an arcade stick, and travels, which ill assume is the majority here.
Sony apparently is not only effectively publishing the game (ie: giving Capcom funds to develop the game, but at the same time not being listed as a publisher) but also acting as a co-developer, coupled with the cross play inter-system netcode, it’s likely SF5, at least in it’s vanilla state, will never be on an Xbox.
Considering Sony is putting up money for tourneys also, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re trying to lock down all SFs and keep them on Sony platforms.
Would definitely be a very smart move. KI is a very good fighting game on XB1 and it has it’s following, but for Sony to grab the real “king of fighters” (oh god terrible pun but i love it) is huge and cements it as the fighting game community console of choice. I guess we will see once SF5EnhancedUltraBetterThanTheLastWithFiveMoreFighters Edition comes out.
Sony’s definitely trying to win over tournaments. Heck, I might as well say it, I’ll likely be running a Capcom Pro Tour points event next year and we’ll probably be running Ultra on PlayStation with a Sony sponsorship.
I’m willing to bet the next Pro Tour will definitely have USF4 running on PS4. Especially since Sony has announced that its co-funding the prize money.
if you guys listen to the giantbomb podcast, apparently it might be an exclusive b/c sony is actually helping with development and is funding a large portion of the game. capcom as a whole is in dire straights financially, so capcom needed external help to actually make the game. part of the deal was probably “we help you make this game, but it only comes on our platform + PC”
