There’s other fighting games out there? I only play American fighters like 3rd Strike.
That in itself presents an issue…the average gamer does not want to import these games/ does not have accessibility to a modded PS2 or whatever it takes to play these games…

Yes but only 10% of people have modded systems…the rest are all local…meaning only like 5% of that 10% play these games…
most of these games suck compared to the ones were already playing.
also most of these games have no scenes, and therefore no incentive to play.
and the reason there are no scenes for these games is because the games are relatively harder to play (because of accessibility), and generally inferior to the games with established scenes.
the reason more ppl dont play ggxx is because guilty gear players are weird.

SBO doesnt even feature the games we hold so dear to us anymore…the only Capcom game at SBO was SF3 3s…CVS2 nope…3s…everywhere else practically KOF is huge…and Not even in our own games besides Marvel and Tekken is the US the best…

That generally not everybody is competitive when it comes to fghting games. epsilon is right about games nowadays having very little scene for them since the only way to get KOFXI,NGBC,Melty Blood, etc. Is to import/mod your PS2 The “old” games are readily avaliable to the masses hence thier longevity…I’m sure this has been said many times before but you’re gonna dissagree with me anyways so…

actually arcade fire just made a good point, and i didnt read all of this topic so if its been said im bringin it back up, but people arent competitive like back in the day. i know i was only a kid back then but shit i could comprehend street fighter like no other. now when people play no one wants to play again when theyve already lost once defeating the point of getting better at the game. hell im no great but i do watch a lot of videos and can duplicate styles and moves and learn how they got in that situation but whats the point at knowing all that if you wont have competition to use it against. and that applies to all games really.

When it comes to 2d fighters in the US other than street fighter, there are really only two other series to consider: Guilty Gear and KOF. Melty Blood and all that other shit doesn’t even count, I don’t pay any attention to those and don’t really know very many people who do.
Imo the games in the Guilty Gear series are the only new fighters worth playing. Just by looking at it, you see really complex character design and attractive graphics.
And due to this, I think Americans are responding to it. There’s a decent (and growing) fan base for it and it’s the only non-capcom fighter respresented at Evo. I mean, here’s a 2d fighter that pretty much formed a community enitrely on its own, seperate from the capcom community and there is something to be said for that.
Then you have KOF…I can’t even tell if they’ve ever upgraded to newer hardware because the characters look the fucking same every year. Seriously, wtf. It’s really a shame because I love the art and character design for KOF. Then you got the game which plays like a loose vagina…i mean, the controls make me feel like i’m fucking a retarded girl when I play it. Everytime I play KOF, i just end up wanting to Volcanic Shoryu Bunker myself in the face. Seriously, I have way more fun played SNK characters in Capcom games then I ever did playing them in SNK games.
In summation, I don’t know if any of that made sense, I don’t like fucking retarded girls and I’m never looking at this thread again.
Once again this proves my POV precisely 10x…you grew up with Street Fighter so you want/are used to every fighting game to feel that loose.
Let me give you the other side of the equation…
I grew up playing Sam Sho and Fatal Fury etc so I am used to the tight controls…and yes I do prefer tight latin vaginas I dont want loose dirty whores…:lol:
So I go to play Street Fighter and I laugh everything is such a joke to perform because I am use to the tight controls of SNk games…then see knowing everyone grew up on the SF generation what did SNK do with KOFXI?? Yes thats right they made the controls dare I say it “Capcom friendly” thats right so that everyone now can do a fireball in SNK games pretty easy.
And yes they are upgrading the graphics even more…KOFXI as of now looks the best, and KOFXII will look even better due to the fact that they are using new sprites AND new hardware…I know they can do it…look at Garou on NeoGeo and look at NeoGeo Battle Coliseums backgrounds…thats proof they can make things look all nice and good…hell look at Last Blade 1 on NeoGeo…sexy shit…
The more I hear people diss on GG and say people are anime etc and get into that whole thing it seems to me the REAL ISSUE is prejudice against these games Does this quote seem about right-

The game I don’t really play anymore IS 3S…I got so burnt out on it and seeing stubborn people all the time that just wanna play 3s its like what Tomas said there are OTHER fighters out there besides Capcom fighters.
