Why does Poison appeal to you as a player?

I can’t resist dem abs

  • really dig her jack of all trades playstyle, feels like she can do a little bit of everything which is always a character type I’ve graduated too

-shes fine as hell

-her abs remind me of johnny’s

2 months last reply, whatever, posting here.

Poison got me into this genre, because before I’d never been a fan of fighting games (they were ok, but I have an obnoxious lil bro who’d start an actual fight whenever I beat his ass). A friend / lecturer I know at uni is a huge obsessive into games, and when she introduced me to the character Poison I got obsessive over her because… sh*t, I didn’t realise how important it was for me to see a trans character who’s hella sexy, kicks ass and doesn’t take any crap from anyone. A trans woman myself (with scarily similar height, birthday, and else to her), this was just “right I have to get this game and play it right now”

Helps that she’s also really fun to play and pretty smooth to pick up as a relative beginner.

Have you heard of Ricky Ortiz? She’s also a trans player who tried to main as Poison.

However, Ricky has recently dropped Poison because she said that the character has too many problems and is now using Rufus/Rolento. :frowning:

I’m surprised and saddened so many players are dropping Poison.

They just can’t handle the sexiness.

I’m new to the scene and haven’t watched much e-sports in general, I keep meaning to catch up on Dota 2 and USF4.
That’s a shame though D: One of my driving forces to get me practising a lot more is that I thought it’d be really cool to be #1 at Poison, making a trans player the best at a trans char.

I don’t plan on dropping her anytime soon anyways, she’s really fun to play and one of those characters that suits me both in play-style and general Style. Hell, I’m planning on cosplaying her this year, can’t drop her now. But I will note I very rarely come across other Poison players. As @Neclord said, guess they can’t handle the sexiness >:3

so i can give other players the dong

I’m still pretty new to the scene as well. Started playing online with Super Street Fighter 4, but took long breaks between the updates. Most of the time I am watching streams instead of playing the game.
And when I play a game, I usually main female characters, so I started with Chun a bit and then switched to Juri after a year or so.

But now with Ultra I started to use Poison a bit and I’m in love with this character as well. She is the first trans woman character I use in a game (well, there aren’t many of them anyway, sadly). I like esthetic characters and in my opinion, she has the best looking female body and face in the game. Even hotter than my main :3.

If I see a trans woman like that in real life, I would ask her for a date for sure! Even though I’m 100% straight, I don’t care lol.

What just bugs me are people talking about this character and sometimes it goes like this:

Guy A: Damn, Poison is hot!
Guy B: Dude, she has a dick!

And I’m like: Would something extra down there (even if we don’t know 100% if she has it or not) make her look ugly all of the sudden? I don’t understand, I guess it’s just trolling. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, my current goal is now to get good with Juri and with Poison.
Somehow, I have the highest win rate with Poison out of all my 4 characters I use (rose and chun are my secondaries).

Guess it’s because she is easier to learn and her fireballs are annoying for a lot of beginners in this game. =)

It’s just kids all awkward about their sexuality and thinking that any presence of D makes them gay. It’s not like there aren’t a million regular female characters in gaming. And yeah, there aren’t many trans-female characters, I think off the top of my head I can only think of Bridget (Guilty Gear I think??) and Erica (Catherine).
I don’t count Birdo. F*** Birdo.

Unfortunately, Bridget considers himself a boy, so he’s not transsexual (he only wears the female outfit because his village forces him to).

it is also a pity that this game was censored in the west. that scene is hilarious
there is a similar scene with horny dobermans, not included here

Poison should have been in that game too. Censorship delayed her popularity…

That proves Poison was transgender from the beginning.

I only put him in because I’ve only vaguely heard and needed an extra example, because I’m kinda biased towards being obsessed with Poison and Erica since I found them. Hence why I’m also quite pushy towards myself to including a ton of trans chars in games I’m designing during my university course.

I must say it’s reassuring to see how cool people are with Poison’s gender on this site. Looking her up before led me to so much vitriol I had to install a comment blocker to stop myself getting baited into fights

Sadly, there is still a lot of hatred out there for Poison. I get hate mail all the time for using her, and several members here have been harassed for playing as her. :frowning:

I’ve become blunt to it because I’ve experienced worse in real life. Whiny kids on the internet pale to that

The FGC is good for the fact that it rarely gives a fuck about anyones personal life past what they see initially. Take Ricky Ortiz, one of the greatest FG players in history changes genders and nobody really cares, it’s business as usual and that’s how it goes.

You’re judged based on your performance in the games you like, that’s all people care about and I like it that way.

Personally, I just genuinely don’t care. Be whatever and do whatever you want, I don’t care in the slightest, Poisons gender didn’t even come into it in retrospect.

Not a fan of her gameplay-wise…but good enough to

Juri’s a Bi.

Does Vivian from Paper Mario count? In Japanese she was a transsexual who was rejected by her villainous sisters for wanting to fit in with them. Though in America that was rewritten to her sisters not liking her because she’s ugly (wtf?). Probably falls under the same category as Birdo for you though since Vivian was a distinctly non-human creature. There’s also Dark Sun Gwendolyn in Dark Souls, which is kinda an edge-case like Bridget, but considering he spends all his time using magic to disguise himself as his sister of his own volition, probably actually had a female gender identity, hard to say though, I don’t think there was much clearly indicated one way or another.

That’s the only other two I can think of. Poison’s still the best though cause she’s a badass.

Pink hair, great fireballs, and alt 3.
