Sure, but only the braindead get caught in those combos. There isnt anything you that happens without a reason, so if you got caught in such a combo, you deserved it.
High Level UMK3 is ALOT better than you think.
I love the pallette swap ninjas. I dont know why, but it was simple, and it worked.
Unless u play mk at a high level it’s hard to judge it as a high level game and i don’t know why many people even bother. People still wanna play it (meaning UMK3 of course) after it being out almost 15 years.
 I don’t hate the MK series but the 2-d ones to me are waaaay better then the 3-d ones. ever since it went 3-d it really turned me off to the series. Although I will say MK vs DC is the best mortal kombat game to come out in quite some time. Way better then any of the other 3-d ones to me although that’s not saying much. Although it is a teen game the gameplay to me is way better and most of the game play for the other 3-d ones really suck to me.
It is the best fighting series made in American :wgrin:
Alright since you seem to be a mortal kombat junkie ill give your idea of seeing some professional level play a try… but first where would I find this is it on youtube. Pretty awesome that you brought an umk3 arcade cabinet to SB4, I dont think it would deserve to be a main event, but I wouldnt mind the scene for this one to come back though. Bet people were hooked on it betting a little money here and there though.
Is UMK3 on the 360 considered a good port? I’ve thought about getting it but I remember hearing that you can’t customize the controls, which is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of in a fighting game.
Well I’m able to play it on my SE but yeah that is a stupid thing… aside from that It’s dang near perfect. I like the MK series because it’s one of those easy to learn, and insane when you get everything down. I agree the 2d ones were better, I really want to see that style of gameplay come back.
MK has brilliant and iconic character designs but it is a poor representation of a fighting game. It should follow SF4’s example, go back to basics. Beautifully realistic character models, 2D gameplay and a solid fighting engine. The gore gimmicks are completely over… MkvsDC is an insult (with a really good single player campaign).
The only reason I would ever be interested in an MK game today is because I love the characters and the story is quite intricate for a fighting game and is continuously developing.
Agreed, but on another note. I think deadly alliance was a way better game then MK vs DC. I liked the diffrent fighting styles you could link together for a fancy combo, and the story was awsome. I also liked deception for the gamecube.
UMK3 is still the best in the series if not MK2.
MK was a very good game when it first came out, I remember the first time I hear the music and seen Goro’s pic in the intro, incredibly dark and intriguing concept and presentation, but gameplay was bleh.
I just got MK2 for the PS3 for shits and giggles and man, the difference between 2 and 3 is huge. 2 is still fun but 3 is hands down it. It was so weird to play. But I’ll look into it more.
Yeah its great, just wire a custom stick with the default UMK button setup and you are set. Its so good we are even using it as a tourney game this end of the year event from MKK.
We are holding it on 360 cause of portability man, we cannot carry the arcade from place to place heheheh
Also we want to split up the video signal and capture it with a DVD recorder for the event day and have cristal clear graphs for the DVD of it! (ups I spliled too much) Direct feed + crowd noise for all games (umk3, mkt n64, tmnt tf, mario kart 64, st, 3s, sf4, t5 dr & t6 br). Otherwise we cannot do that with the UMK3 board directly. Damn Midway and they weird Y axis split video. I havent found YET a decent jamma RGB converter for it… =(
