Fucked around with MK Vs. DC earlier, I always liked the MK designs and UMK3 is godly badass, but yeah Boon is a terrible person and the series was run into the grave. I doubt WB will really revive it, just release a half-assed new one and continue the slow trend.

Repped, but I will say while Ed has made terrible choices in the developement of the franchise from a quality standpoint, he is a very nice guy and is a very good business man, so there wasnt any need for that comment.

With that said, he does need to go back to MK roots. period.

I used to play MK2 on my older brother’s SNES, and I had plenty of fun pulling off fatalities, although there was no real competition, just me and my brothers playing. Never played any other MK though.

MKs system always seemed so stiff and jagged. The combos look dumb 99% of the time and the whole sillyness the game has going on (along with the gore) was the only appealing part for me.

I’d compare it to Melee or Brawl, tons of fun in the right doses but definitely not my choice for a competitive fighting game.

I suck personally but my boy Dubson (some of u may know him from the MK boards) is raw as hell in that game.

I guess it’s because of the unique move lists on top of the constant threat of the universal normal attacks?which require more than the pressing of a single button (direction + button).

In the Capcom fighters, each character does have unique attacks, but they’re all single button attacks, and their special moves are in many ways very similar to the other characters moves?I’m talking about the half/full fireball motions, dragon punch motions, charge moves, etc.? followed by any of the punch/kick buttons. All of this is ideal for button mashers.

I still can’t see how this makes MK’s system more complex than SF. They both have normals and specials, except MK’s normals are shared between all the characters. How is that more complex, again? And the last part – HUH?

In MK, each character does have the same high/low punch/kick attacks, and they also have the same sweep (<+LK) and roundhouse (<+HK), etc… but most have a completely unique move list to memorize, and you can’t use either punch or either kick like the Capcom special moves (only HP or LP or HK or LK will work).

Except that in SF, the punch/kick button that you use determines the move’s speed, power, range, and recovery properties – at least, for the vast majority of specials. To state that you can just use any punch or kick and get the exact same result is inaccurate.

The projectiles are less of a factor because you can fire a projectile of your own or block or duck under them or jump over them and “retaliate” (another perk of the MK series).

Okay, by now I am certain that this whole thing is one big troll post.

That said, I do have fond memories of UMK3 on the SNES but I have never considered it worth pursuing competitively.

Indeed, that guy YDK… BUT he has a point: MK is NOT for button mashers. You simply CANNOT mash in MK and do stuff. Try it and see how all you will get is are Hp and unintenional blocks or sweeps… Ocasionally one or 2 random specials but thats it. No free combos from mashing.

I haven’t really really played MK like that since II. and even then i think it was only because I was a child and I thought it was cool to play such a bloody game. I haven’t really played the series much afterwards. I played Deception for a little while and it was pretty cool , but it didn’t get me hooked like Tekken 5 or SFIV.

I think midway said there were done with the series after armageddon, but vs DC cameout after that. I’m not sure if they’re playing to make anymore of those. I don’t think they should unless they can get it to compete with the big dogs again.

of course its on 360! ha ha. i was shocked myself while just randomly touring through. shit, im shocked hyper fighting is online, and its not the talked about all day. considering that og’s consider that the best sf to date.
