Why do people still insist on another HD game?

Although I personally find HDR to be visually terrible, I think the sprites are just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I think the ones that are complaing are ST fanboys that done like change. Very sad.

Not a lot actually. SFII Chun Li is something like 10% shorter than the Alpha, 3rd Strike, and CvS2 versions. SFIII also has the old half-SD resolution, which isn’t the case for MvC2 and CvS2 that run SD native.

I think a HD Darkstalkers with extra expressive frames will make the game very very approachable, but the nature of the game needs a team mode that allows you to switch after a round.

I think darkstalkers alone without extra modes like these wouldnt pull in new players for long :shake:

I think the people clamoring for Darkstalkers HD need to realize that if Capcom struggled with SF2 and it’s rather small sprite sets per character, they’re going to play hell with 1000+ sprites per character.

As far as SF2HD, I still hate what they did to Balrog’s stage. Seriously Udon keep that stuff in your comics.

The problem with SF2HD is that they hired a comic book company to do the art. I can just imagine them saying, ‘No problem! We’ll just draw real art over the sprites! We don’t need to know anything about animation!’ If they hired an animation company to do the animation, it would be fine. I can’t imagine the Udon thing could happen twice.

Wrong! It could have looked great if they did it right. It would have taken about 10 times as long to do and would have cost a lot of money, so you can guess where I’m going with this. Coming up with a project like this is nice, but you gotta commit to it if you want it to turn out good.

when people are saying the animations looked wack where you playing on a hdtv? and i think one dude said the o.g animation looked like crap on his hdtv in why the animations sucked. hdr is beautiful game imo

how does playing this game on a HD tv “improve” the animation? that makes zero sense.

I agree with you 100% Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm game is just further proof that sprites effects can recreated and improved in 3d, and its less time consuming.

HDR’s sprites are awful but, guys, the OGs were pretty bad too. As much as I love ST, the original sprites were terribly drawn, with tons of anatomy problems and animation fuckups. The problem is that UDON just traced over them without fixing their errors, with a worse style and less colours. And the higher resolution made the original’s problems even worse.

What Cronopio said. Has anyone actually taken the time to observe how ugly ST’s '91 sprites where. Ryu and Ken’s retreat animations are awkward and retarded looking, Chun-Li is a transexual, Blanka’s portrait is melting, apparantly and Sagat is simply awful looking. SFII is full of bad art. Alpha significantly improved not only in terms of visuals, by art direction in general.

Yea I thought HDR looked MUCH better…I wish MvC2 was HDR…so ugly

3D models matching 2D animation frames has to honestly be the most stupid fuck thing I’ve ever read. You can make limited animation work on sprites through technique. A 3D model doing a 3 frame animation will look like complete fucking crap.

To make it look even remotely decent you’d have to completely re-animate the game from the ground up as if you were making SFIV.

Bison and Balrog’s SFII sprites really are disgusting.

I think its the losers who want remakes of the old games didn’t buy enough of the old games. They probably only had about 5 of each copy and they want to buy more. There were only about 20 or so remakes, much less than any other game if you understand. But no fear, instead of making 1 great solid game, we get MANY new ones to come… good times, good times. Anyhow, anyone else going to boycott further capcom games until they put effort into making 1 at a time or they somehow like how this is going? Its still 2D and if being able to counter is just too mind blowing, they removed parry which was too difficult and unnecessary while now making trash that can’t counter jack.

I think there’s a lot of miscommunication going on. Most of the people I know that want a “HDR” version, don’t exactly want that. I want the HD treatment, but in the vein of MvC2 with filters and such, not a complete overhaul. Just give it the MvC2 filters and call it a day. Don’t think anyone complained about them. It’s safe, and I don’t think people would be pissed if they went that direction.

this thread is based on a negative opinion on 1 single fighting video game that doesn’t even look that bad (not the greatest, but far from being crap)? wow okay, try looking around and you’ll find numerous video games that have successful graphical upgrades. hell the final fantasy series alone has at least 3 or 4 of em. theres no reason it couldn’t be successful in fighting games if done properly. if you can make a good hd game based on previous material (kof12) or one that is completely new (blazblue), you can do an hd remix with equally good graphics.
