I know people of all ethnicities who like the madea movies…personally i dont like the movies i actually preferred the plays where there was more freedom on set. And to give the man some respect he does employ many black actors and actresses whether thats a good thing or bad it’s something ya know… And of course it’s not gonna be funny to everyone most of the jokes come from a cultural aspect… Personally I didn’t find soul plane, the hangover, and the office funny but that’s because I dont care for ridiculous black stereotypes, i dont drink, and super awkwardness still feels super awkward after for me…but i can see why people could enjoy it

My girl and her mom go see every one of them. They never invite me though. She knows I dislike the movies, and also knows I’m good for bitching the whole time when dragged somewhere that I don’t want to be. She’s usually quick to tell me how bad some of them are though. I think she watches them mostly to hang with her mom. Kind of like how she got hooked on One Piece so we’d have something to watch together. Plus, you know, One Piece is actually good.
I sit through her 50 different reality shows though, so I’m taking a pass on Tyler Perry.

Inside Man cost 45 million to make; features a predominantly WHITE cast and subject material. it made 184 million worldwide. Spike Lee still has to fight tooth and nail to get funding every time he wants to make a movie, and usually has to go through independent channels. Tyler Perry wants to make a movie about a black guy that dresses up like a fat black woman that eats chicken and grape drank with a ridiculous, quasi-religious plot and studios can’t give him the money fast enough. Spike Lee’s vocal calling out of Hollywood’s bullshit is met with everybody calling him angry and conspiratorial. dude has a right to be angry. how many competent black directors are there in the Hollywood machine? 5? why is Tyler Perry getting all the money?
