Oh. Well, I have Tekken 6 out of respect, but I don’t really like it. VF I also respect…I just don’t have it and I’m not a fan. All-Stars I’m considering just because I’m a part of the Wre…I mean Entertainment thread, which reminds me I fixed your post, but idrk yet. It doesn’t help a majority of the Entertainment thread only have PS3’s…
I’m pretty sure people find things to bitch about in MK9 too once its out
No Iron Sheik in All-stars. WTF THQ.
And to stay on topic:
What Pherai said is spot on… and I think even if you are going to get mad about the DLC thing, whether or not it’s on the disc isn’t important either. I mean really ask yourself, would it be any better in your mind if it wasn’t on the disc, but still just as close to being finished before launch and released on the same day? I mean, I can understand intellectually if you feel Capcom is withholding content from you to make an extra buck, but where they hide it seems like the least important part of that argument.
Well duh. We bitch about everything.
Can’t wait till they release a character for 6 dollars and hear everyone rabble rabble rabble all over again…
I’d pay an enormous sum for the likes of guile ken and cammy… but please capcom, give me them for free!
So now Capcom knows the secret to success…become so sucky that no matter what they do, they won’t be as rioted against.
I always see the, “we as a community shouldn’t put up with this so Capcom will stop” argument but what percentage does the SRK/Tournament playing community account for in games sold? I may be way off but I don’t think it’s a high number, DLC content is for the casual fan boy and Capcom will keep appealing to them.
Join us at sony. Wee all stars is unPolished awesome. Dude we will give all stars a scene, everybody is talking about it. Also the hulkster needs to squash more jabrons, this is where the power lies.
Hell the dlc for wwe as should follow the mold as in svr pay $9.99 for that fan axxess and all dlc is available. (besides bret)
that dlc model to me is way more appealing and i hope nrs and capcom include shops within the game
i will lol if the scene for wweas grows big enough to be at evo next year lol.
Come on dude imagine having sgt slaughter calling us video game playing pukes who should stand at attention and shine his boots. And that’s an order maggot!
Dude, I’m not getting a PS3 JUST to play WEE All-Stars with you guys.
If you get a PS3 you’d also have AH3 on PSN to look forward to…
All-stars demo was pretty fucking awesome though. Still not sure Ima buy with no Sheik, but w/e.
True, but a hyper vocal minority is a lot more powerful than you think it is.
I’ve tried so hard to like this game over the past few weeks but it’s still disappointing everytime I boot it up. I really don’t know if it’s the control scheme or the damage output, but every match is just so predictable till the very last seconds it seems.
I do find the game to be much more fun watching than actually playing…and I think that’s the biggest issue for me.
It’s not an awful game, but it definitely isn’t the sequel I hoped it would be. Glad others enjoy it though.
I’m not buying a PS3 unless I move out…I kind of don’t have any room in here for another console.
Man, you are SO naive. Why do you think Valve released a bunch of free content, out of the goodness of their heart??
It’s one thing to think DLC characters aren’t good value, that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to that. To act like Capcom are forcefully pulling your pants down and exploiting you against your will is ridiculous.
You keep saying this should be free and that should be free, based on what, because you want it to be so?? MvC3 without DLC costs what it costs, if you want it, you buy it, if you don’t, you don’t. It really is that simple.
It all boils down to people expecting others to work for free. If your boss said he wanted you to work an extra 10hrs this week and those extra hours should be free, you’d tell him to f*ck off right?
LOL!!!
based on what? this shit USED to be free. Look @ all the old fighters, did they charge you 5$ extra for guile on alpha 3 on the psx version? did capcom charge people for the extra characters on vampire savior ps2 port? did capcom charge you for 2 games on the ps2 version of SF AE? what about the extra characters in a3 upper, did those cost extra? simple answer is no. They tried almost anything and everything to get people to buy their game so they loaded the game was as much content as possible.
Now that capcom has realized that you fucking idiots actually buy DLC, they now withhold content after making the game to release as DLC a few weeks later.
Its the industry’s direction. That people can make more money by providing pieces of the cake rather than selling the whole thing. Just look at any stupid game endorsed heavily by Gamestop and theres always going to be DLC. Its all for the dollars.
With context with a fighter, if some silly costume will make people keep playing the game, you might as well sell it to them.
People act as if its evil for a company to make money. Its just business as usual.
if you’re a brand new player, I can understand that concept but I’m not. When capcom was much smaller during the 90’s, they banked on street fighter a lot to make money. Where games like megaman were a 1 time buy, players had to pay for every game of street fighter and up to about 98-99 , everyone played in the arcade. SF was huge for capcom, it allowed them to be a household name so they could eventually branch out.
when they wanted my business, they basically begged for it. They did everything in their power to make you play their games like loading the content up, extra characters and modes. All the bells and whistles were included for free in order to seem more appeasing to the average buyers.
Now, they are willing to dick the people that helped them get there by nickel and diming them. While it may be business, its not very good for public relations and public relations is a HUGE part of business.
sigh
I understand people’s frustration, but its really just like gas and other consumables. Supply and demand make-up the price of something. So long as the DLC option for characters is viable for Capcom financially, they can and wil ldo it. If you don’t agree with it, don’t buy the DLC. Eventually Capcom will get he message. But right now…enough people have dropped ten bux for two new characters that Capcom wil lcontinue to do it.

Just going to play Devil’s advocate for a minute…
There is a reason Capcom put extra characters on disc…it was the selling tactic. Why should I pay 50 bux to be able to play this game by myself at my house, with depending on game/system subpar graphics/changes - when I can go to the arcade and play against people, for less? It was an incentive to et people to purchase the console games. MvC3 was straight to console and thus didn’t NEED ‘incentive’.
CounterStrike is also a completly different beast, when you consider that with the high level of bootlegging prevelent at the time - free content was the way to go to lure in new customers. Ultimatly thats what the free stuff was about - luring in new customers who were on the fence. With a game like MvC3 - few people are ‘on the fence’…if they want extra money its going to be form the existing player base.

I like a lot of the business lectures in this thread like people don’t understand it. It is simple… Capcom likes money. We will never not buy a new character no matter how much most people will bitch and complain about DLC. Sure maybe one guy will boycott but Capcom isn’t going to give a fuck about Hector in Delaware and continue to follow this DLC model.
Even if you don’t plan on using the character you still buy it just to have him/her. There will never be even remotely enough boycotters to stop Capcom and other companies from doing this. So buckle up and enjoy the ride.
was that pun intended man?
But yeah, I’d pay anything to get rid of those corner gaps on the character select screen, even though I don’t want it to cost a foot long at subway. I just hope the Jill sandwich is worth it.
This is an easy one,MK has never been taken seriously before.
I hope that will change but facts do not lie.
