I’m not saying you did, I’m just saying if I wanted, I could extend that train of thought to unlockables like that.
like… omg dude! shocker here, you mean to tell me that the corporation Capcom, is primarily interested in making money? it’s almost like that’s the ONLY feduciary (i prolly butchered this word) duty as a corporation.
no fucking shit. The person I was explaining that to didn’t understand it so I had to explain it. That’s why you read the thread instead of picking 1 post.
why? we’re already half way towards magic the gathering. jill\shuma look pretty mid tier ish. All we need now is an over powered top tier character who’s incredibly easy to play and costs money. Then we’ll officially be as bad as magic.
the hardcore crowd if they are truly hardcore would buy the dlc
again if they can afford sticks, hd monitors, internet access, stick mods, ps3/xbox, rent, bills, etc $5 should be nothing to adults playing the game
seriously dude.
Hardcore means buying any and everything and evolving with the game
Why not start somewhere? Because I frankly think you’ll do a Wile E. Coyote spitback and deathfall midway through that thought. =\
For tournament players, DLC characters would seem to be a pain in the ass. What if Shuma or Jill were S tier right now?
For casual players, DLC characters would seem to be utterly awesome.
Anybody bitching about them being on disk or not: you make me want to slam my head repeatedly on my desk. That’s a pretty arbitrary standard. People have been doing this kind of thing for at least a decade now: get over it. =\
I really think the best point that can be made here is as to what the experience would be if Shuma or Jill were god tier. I enjoy and love DLC, but … I’d rather think of them as game expansion packs (MvC3.1!) than pure character DLC. Right now they don’t change the game, but if say Cable or Iceman were DLC and broke the game with their tactics… I’d think that’d be a really strange unique scenario.
exactly. How long is going to take for that shit to happen? every time we as a community influence this crap, the exploitation is going to happen.
Since players are already paying out the ass for some trash characters, would more people pay out the ass for god tier characters?
all the tournament players would definitely need to have it to be competitive. If not to play, definitely to study. Even if we don’t play the character, we still try to discover things about their hit boxes or how good their priority is on their normals. Things you can’t really tell by watching a video.
It would be 2000 all over again
“omg ice man took no chip from my beams broken”
i commented on your post because there is nothing wrong with a company, out to make money to look at their bottom line first. if capcom goes bankrupt we wont see another game from them ever… so i don’t really hold them following their duty against them.
I think they’d be well-served to make a “Tourney Mode” select screen with “Allow DLC Characters?” option. =\
I used Iceguy because in the new world order he might be a PITA. But you could apply the logic to anybody. What would have happened if even just Captain Commando and Psylocke were DLC for MvC2?
The thing is, XBox 360 owners will NEVER have the opportunity to play Kratos at all, at least not on their consoles, which is different from DLC.
By that same logic, an AE update for SSFIV should be banned as well. Heck any update at all should be banned because people shouldn’t have to spend money. Fuck, CE, Turbo, Hyper, etc.
Tourney banned characters due to DLC discrepencies are such a huge, sad waste though. In a perfect game, you won’t have any characters who are banned, especially if said characters are cool and fun.
Needless to say, I feel sorry for MK9 players who want to use Kratos.
Let’s just face it, any new Fighting Games are pretty much screwed from the onset due to DLC. If we hate it, there’s nothing we can REALLY do about it because we’re vastly outnumbered by casuals.
The only thing we can do is what has been staring us in the face. We have to abandon any and all new games. That’s just the way it is, because DLC characters just won’t be banned.
Anything from MvC2 and before (actually, say SSF4 and before, since they just do the usual SF expansions we always get), and ignore anything else in the future. It’s the only good option we seem to have on the DLC front, and considering the future I’ve been seeing (and the fact MvC3’s netcode is absolute horse shit), the only thing stopping me from taking it is my absolute horrendous luck with connecting to anyone on GGPO.
I hate when they make important shit DLC. Keep it to cosmetics, don’t expand that shit to potentially game changing elements like characters. I see MK made DLC Fatalities, what if Capcom decides to up the ante and make DLC Hypers/Supers?
That makes no sense whatsoever. The fact that you are able to come to this conclusion is amazing.
If they had DLC X-RAY’s, which would never happen becuase that affects the game to much to be selling moves. Fatalities affect the game very little, which is why they are being sold. You literally don’t need them.
Are you serious right now?
Some people are trying REALLY hard to make something easy to agree with…seem like the wrong side.
Fatalities ARE cosmetic. How do they have any bearing on Capcom making DLC Hypers and Supers?
CAPCOM’S EVIL MONEY GRABBING WAYS KNOW NO BOUNDS!
You seem so confident they won’t do this but they are Capcom, Kings of DLC, Emperors of the Nickle and Diming! Who knows how far they are willing to push the envelope.
Yesterday it was costumes, today it’s characters, what’s next!?
…stages, mang
Then they seem more likely to do shittier DLC on their own precedent. But how exactly would DLC Fatalities give them the idea for DLC Supers/Hypers when they’re nothing alike?
DLC… win poses because that’s as close as we get to fatalities in MvC3 (in terms of usefulness).
DLC taunts, DLC pink lasers
