if you aint part of the solution you are part of the problem. this thread is hilarious
Daisuke Ishiwatari just said they wanted to release blazblue for super cheap but with only four characters and you could pay for the ones you wanted to use.
How would something like that fly with this?
lol, what kind of misreading are you trying to sell?
Ok bro first you gotta stop with this i got cred shit, trust me i have the same cred as you and have been playing at that level just as long.
I just see that shit moves faster then it used to and if the game was such a download able puzzle then the same players would not be closing out every major.
Were i trying to have you told i would be attacking you and i’m not.
What i am saying is if your not pushing to top level “and there is one just look at who is winning” then why do you give a fuck?
Buy who you like and disregard the rest.

So the best part about my new job is i am doing this on the clock and no one cares.
Sorry it was Toshimichi Mori, but the article is here: Arc System Works Interview | PLAY Magazine
but he straight up says “…we had to abandon a plan to sell the game with only four characters at a relatively small price and then sell the additional characters separately.”
high five
I don’t think people should be spending money on video games if this is a lot of money in their world. priorities.
re dlc: i think i’ve said this before but i don’t like dlc, and would vastly prefer to buy hyperMvC3, for $40, on a new disc, with better balance and 10+new characters. dlc can lick my nuts.
People themselves are greedy too. It only costs 5 dollars to buy a character or $1 for a shadow mode pack, these small amounts seem huge to everyone on the internet yet these same people probably bought worthless shit that cost way more than whatever they bitch about for DLC. Judging by this, I figure almost everyone who plays video games to be dirt poor or something.
Its the internet. People will always bitch. Get used to it or do what I do, ignore them and do what you can afford or whatever.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like DLC characters at all. That post was mainly aimed at people who are saying shit like “for 60 bucks, all the DLC characters should have been included in the first place.”
I can get behind and agree with most of that. I am very unpleased with experience of the game outside of actual combat, it was an extreme let down and poorly designed - especially from a ‘speed’ point - but I’d be happy with a black and white 8-bit looking menu system that moves lightening fast…I hate sloooowww…which the mneu IMO is. The real thing that annoys me though is the lobbies, I’m not going to step into a lobby and not be able to see anything but driver licenses bump each other for what can be twenty minutes. But I’m digressing. I bought BlazBlue…collector’s edition - when it first hit stateside. And after the first week - I didn’t touch anything outside of multi-player combat. I have to be real about the cost verse product here…I’m not heart torn about what’s missing with regards o tutorials. I’ve already said my peace with games coming with two page manuals these days - and EA is about to drop the manual entirely.
shrug
All I wanna know is if 10 characters were released, at $5 a pop, a week or two before a major, which version of the the game gets played at the major? What version gets played at a major that takes place after that one?
What is the definitive decision from the community if that situation arises? That’s all that needs to be known for me, because that’s the main type of thing that affects the participants of this game’s competitive scene once they made the decision to add characters in this way.
The version with all of the characters gets played (unless some are console exclusive or problems arise). It’s not really a big deal though since…most people probably won’t even risk using them for a major with one week of practice. But the one with all the characters is usually the definitive.
how dare a company be in business to make money.
HOW DARE THEM!!!
Boycotting and not buying the dlc isnt gonna make them give it to you for free next time. its gonna make them not get the go ahead to even make the next game in the first place. I do agree its money grubbing bullshit, especially when theyre announced before the game is out, and on disc but i bought em, and i like em both alot. If i didnt, id only be cheating myself. Youll never see me buy a costume, or even that 1$ shadow pack. Ill never buy a stage or a move, but for actual characters, yeah, i guess i will.
I see a lot of people bitching about an incomplete game coming out, but honestly, get serious about it. If Capcom said " OK we will release the game right now, but it’s gonna be missing 2 characters, and shadow mode… so you can either wait a month and a half and get them with the release, or just pay for them when they are released and have the game tomorrow, what do you want ?. " A damn good majority of the community would say fuck I don’t care, gimme the game, I wanna play it, been 10 years gimme gimme !!!.
Shadow mode is a piece of shit anyway, so it wasn’t worth waiting another month for anyway, and according to Capcom, spectator mode is not coming out anyway due to online lag issues. So was the game rushed ?, I don’t think so, I believe they included everything they intended to include.
To be clear, Capcom said “If these were not DLC characters, they would not be available.” So there’s no magic “Just put them in the game!!!” answer: the funds to finish those characters are the funds you paid to buy the DLC. Them shipping on the disc or not is simply a matter of timing and convenience. =\
Funny thing is, those character are not on the Disk, so they truly are DLC.
and why are you so tied up on what the masses think?
That doesn’t necessitate charging for every little thing.
Look at MK9, which gives each character at least one alternate costume for free. Capcom charges for all of their alternate costumes.
Rushed or not, I couldn’t wait another month for them to release it, and I think Keits’ head might have exploded if they had prolonged it anymore than they did.
I don’t think it’s so much rushed as just poor/sloppy design decisions on everything that wasn’t the punching and kicking.
I don’t know, it’s kind of a wash. As far as I know MK9 only has two colors for each character, and Midway not being much brighter than Capcom with Dark Phoenix; made them look almost identical to each other (hello Sub-zero vs Sub-zero). The alternates are almost a requirement, and balance it out @ 4 different-ish colors per character in both games.
