You think Haggar is bottom 5? No way in hell.
Arthur has his flaws. But can win. He can fight back against peeps that get in far better than GR can.

Yea i’ll agree with that he can also hit really hard i was mostly just thinking in terms of bad match-ups as he has trouble against any thing in the air or anything that out prioritizes him. also i think i should be clear that theres a jump in terms of play ability between tron and Hsien-ko
What if he had sort of a Repulsor Blast shoryuken where he spins his chain in the air above him like in the start up for his flames super? It’s something he would do and he would at least have an answer for the things that trouble him most (an answer that would need to be done on prediction rather than reaction but still).
For a guy that spins chains all over the place you’d think he’d spin it backwards or around him.
Maybe he should watch Saint Seiya…
Haggar is actually one of the worst in the game (that doesn’t mean he’s terrible FYI).
But as an assist character? He’s fucking amazing.
Hsienko is an assist character yet sucks complete ass at THAT role too. THAT is why she sucks. Even in the role she was made to play she still sucks.
PW doesn’t even have a role. His role is luck.
She-Hulk.
Seriously. At least Phoenix Wright has the chance to become good. She-Hulk doesn’t even have that.
She Hulk definitely has the tools to be a decent char, but it requires very good reactions and awareness on the part of the player (see ABEGEN). I wouldn’t put her bottom 5 at all.
ABEGEN also plays Tron.
He’s basically playing the game for the sole purpose of fucking with people by playing awful characters and winning with them anyways.
It’s amazing what one property change can do for a character. Pipe used to mean big combo, now pipe is basically death on a proper Haggar team because of crouching H. AND you still have his assist.
Hsien Ko assist is invincible, regardless if your point character is hit or not. It’s not Haggar lariat, but it doesn’t cost life to use either.
She Hulk is still viable. If the player is good at predicting where you are going to be, you’re going to eat 70% and be in prime position for a reset. Nerfed, but still scary.1200 Health that you have to take out before she lands a hit and then resets you…Still a challenge.
Id actually say its the other way around now a days, Haggar is a really scary point character when hes got two good assists backing him up.
Wright is great… The problem is that Turnabout Mode takes way too much effort and there are many ways to get past his barrier when he gathers evidence, especially if your opponent is a teleporter.
Hsien-Ko is good, like every character if you know how to use them, but she’s just really slow. I mean, I think her fastest mobile movement is her airwalk, which is pretty sad. Add to that that she’s better as an assist (especially on super armor) than an actual fighter. Despite that though, I do have issues fighting against Hsien-Ko. She’s just really odd for me to deal with, and this is coming from someone who uses Spider-Man!
Just stay on top of her. She has no way to deal with pressure other than pushblock.
True, but her super armor and pendulum swing can be problematic to deal with… Heck that swing is a problem even without armor.
This is just dumb, seriously.
Why would you give Ghost Rider something against teleporters? He can zone against rushdown characters pretty well, the point of teleports is to beat keep-away because you are allowed to get there without dealing with plenty of shit in the screen. Get over it, this is something that every zoner has to deal with.
Ghost Rider zones pretty well and people isn’t giving him credit for it, I have a friend that plays Ghost Rider / Hulk (anti-air assist) / Shuma (Mystic Ray) and he has won several locals. He is playing Ghost Rider the way it’s meant to be played, covering his weak spots, filling the screen with shit, spamming like a champ, converting every hit into major damage, beating advancing guard and super armor.
And to be honest, Ghost Rider can deal against teleporters, he just needs to be patient** (as any zoner fighting teleports should be)**, jumping H and standing S come to mind, but it seems that it’s so hard that people can’t figure it out. Theory fighting hurts characters like GR and Haggar, however in real games, those characters are fucking deadly.
I wouldnt say hsien ko is the worse well maybe she is but mainly the reason most hsien ko players win is because most people dont know how to fight her
Any video of him? I’ve been thinking about making a pure keep away team to play because Tron is depressing me when the mood suits me. Any time I am forced to play a SF game I play Dhalsim so if Ghost Rider isn’t as bad as I think I’d love to see it.
Lol theory. Theory Haggar never gets in. Real Haggar gets in and TODs.
Slow normals still presents an issue for GR for teleporters. But give him an inch and he’ll be a real asshole with Doom missiles or any other lockdown to control the pace where I think he shines.
I see nothing wrong with giving him more tools. Mahvel supposed to be broken. Let’s break him and everyone else
Fast normals don’t change a thing against teleporters, if someone teleports behind while you’re spamming, it doesn’t matter how fast your normals are, you will get hit because you are unsafe in the middle of an attack. If you are fighting against rushdown, spamming is ok but if you are fighting against a teleporter the worst thing to do is start playing keep away against him. You need to learn the matchup against every teleporter and play it smart.
Use flame pillar and assists against teleporters, putting stuff in front will force them to teleport behind you and you should be ready for that, characters like Vergil can be punished with GR’s command grab hyper.
Marvel is meant to be awesome, not broken, there’s a reason for every balance patch.
Ghost Rider counters rushdown, teleporting against him isn’t that easy, he can mess up your starting frames and punish you for that, he beats super armor. Giving him more tools would be nice, but he doesn’t need them and he isn’t bad at all. Remember that Ghost Rider is a point character, you always have to deal against him with assist backup.
Teleports aren’t the problem, counter specials are… characters like Amaterasu and Taskmaster are the true challenge for Ghost Rider.
Ah… I agree and disagree with you.
I agree with you fully on Ammy and Tasky being problems for GR (look at my team, Tasky does all the work for me vs GR). I’m always fishing for jH counters.
But I respectfully disagree on your opinion of Marvel. I feel Marvel 3 is all about Overwhelming and oppressing your opponent while not letting them do what they want. BUT, it’s still early in the game’s life. Maybe we will see the game turn out quite balanced (I’d prefer it. This game makes me salty) I’d still prefer weaker characters get buffed as opposed to heavy top tier nerfing (kill the complete bs of course)
Mind you I do not think he’s terrible. I did defend the character earlier in this thread as while he does have flaws I feel that it’s impossible to consider him among the worst when he is a hard counter to some characters.
HOLY SHIT! Somebody else who has tasted Rider x Shuma shenanigans?
I must say, shuma ray is one of the prime assists for Ghost Rider, no doubt. It’s effective against teleporters bevause the tp’er shows up between rider and shuma and gets blown up by the assist; it’s really good for Rider’s hit confirm because of how it floats, and it’s great at negating the Op’s assists, either by hitting them, or actually wiping the screen clean (hidden siles, gone)
Bonuspokus, you got videos of this guy using that double? I’d like to show it to a friend of mine.
