Who Plays KOF The Best?

Yeah, this Korean dude is freaking amazing…

Also, I’ve played Emil on 2DF quite a long time ago, I lost my matches though. He’s quite good.

What was your name on there? Do you still play?

I don’t play on 2DF anymore. Since the rankings been gone, I’ve switched to GGPO.

I don’t want to reveal myself. :nono:

Yeah, those rankings really matter don’t they.

ggpo has rankings?!

Speaking of good KOF players deadman was whopping some dude yesterday somethin’ nasty …

Whoever eats the most KFC.

Oh lordie… That gave me a chuckle. Who knew the Colonel could destroy you in a blind fury and serve you fried chicken?

Okay on a serious note, it may not make much sense now…

But I need you all to do the following:

Rank the top 10 players IN THE WORLD from 1-10 (1 being the best, 10 being the 10th best lol) In your honest opinion in the following games:

KOF 2002 OG:
KOF 98 OG:
KOF 2002 UM:
KOF 98UM:
KOFXI:
KOFXII:

I’m serious and yes this includes you Emil…the better you do this the better “the end result” will be.

-DG

I’ll come with a list no problem, just gotta remember some of the names though lol.

This is too hard…those guys all beat each other and it’s hard to tell who is really better at the level they are in, but I will try (not that many of the players will be so close in skill that you can consider most of them to be ties).

1 Oogosho
2. Hammer
3. 777
4. M’
5. Deshio
5. Chen Suiyang(TW)
6. KKAMSANG(KOR)
7. fan197
8. RF
9. Muneji
10. Really hard to pick here…

KOF 98 OG:

  1. Dakou(CHN)
  2. Xiaohai(CHN)
  3. 777
  4. Cheng Lung(CHN)
  5. Oogosho
  6. Raian
  7. Heipi(CHN)
  8. Kyokugen doa
  9. Kyabetsu
  10. Kikko?(too hard to choose)

Most of the players above are ties. Also some players from korea like Siro, need to be in here butit’s really hard to put them in order. Also I haven’t seen anything of Shoki outside of SBO but his gameplay at SBO was very solid.

KOF 2002 UM:
don’t know enough of the player base yet to judge

KOF 98UM:
don’t know that much about the player base so I’ll just list players I think are crazy good in no particular order:
Dakou
Xiaohai,
777
Oogosho
Bun
RF
Kyappu
Chawan
Makkii

KOFXI:
KOFXII:
No idea, but for kofxi, Mago and Poongko(KOR) should be there.

Evo, if you have trouble remembering names, it is questionable if you have had much exposure to the scenes of these games…it should be very easy to remember who you think is best, but either way I don’t think you’ve explored much of the scene.

And yes, I’m well aware of Peru, Brazil and Mexico’s best but I don’t think they belong here, except possibly Kbechinha from Brazil, but if he does get in to top 10, it would be a tie with some players.

Anyone else wanna add? Because these are the players I will be contacting in regards to international tournaments…

for 98UM: (i can’t really put them in order because its way too hard so i’ll just my top 10 players)

  1. makki or maaki (SBO champ for 98UM)
  2. bun or baozi from TW
  3. ET from TW (player who beat bun in a TW tournament
     )
  4. kyappu
  5. 777
  6. xiaohai
  7. chawan
  8. Kyokugen doa
  9. Shoki
  10. I want to say Oogosho (but then sometimes i think his choice of characters makes him struggle fighting against opponents using top tier characters…)
jojo is a good 98UM player too, i also hvn’t see much of dakou playing 98UM so i hv no idea

Got anymore matches of ET? That match was extremely sloppy, I’d say about 80% of the combos (including basic Rugal ones) were dropped.

I am a bit stuck on 02 UM as well…does anyone play it lol. Although I am pretty sure 777 is is above sho in 02.

For KOF 2002 UM, I’d say wait and see for a while.
The Arcadia Cup is coming up in December, after all.

how dakou is better than xiaohai if match vids tell something different otherwise

Oh I know, I been checking Dune’s Blog.

i have to agree w/ you there. also what about tiger. he was on TW team for 98um vs japan but im not sure how well he did. he has always been around and is a strong player but idk how he stacks up to other ppl he plays against these days

He has a bigger mastery of the entire game than Xiaohai. What matches are you talking about anyway? That tourney where Xiaohai beat Dakou 3-2? Very decisive…

They are pretty much equal when it comes to using their best teams, but Dakou has mastered all of kof98 a bit better than Xiaohai has.

As for oogosho, even though his team is relatively low on the tierlist, he does very well against his opponents. I don’t see why he shouldn’t be on the list, guy is a monster.

Tiger…I have matches of him playing way back in 2003, didn’t know he stillplayed.
