Alright, according to some research, I’ve heard that Dune ranked Bata #15 based on statistics and tournament wins on a professional level. According to the info provided to me, Dune is a professional tournament holder and does the placements through actual numbers, data and fact. If all of the information is true, that means that
A) Dune is a qualified Authority. The information he gives are based on actual fact and data, not opinion.
B) Dune officially ranked Bata number 15 in 2002. Therefore, Bata was ranked on a professional level by Dune.
C) Bata is ranked number 15 in KOF2002, in Japan.
Therefore, he is one of the best and I feel deceived now. Emil, you said he WASN’T one of the best and is only good at KOF98. Personally, I feel like being ranked top 20 is pretty high considering that there are many folks in Japan that apparently play KOF. According to what’s been said, they were playing on an ASIAN Cabinet. If that’s the case, how would Bata been handicapped? If anything, the Mexicans should have been the ones handicapped more than anyone, yet they performed VERY well and continued to use combos, pressures, and just attacks very consistently. This is very important news, because how would it be that Bata failed to win on an Asian cart so intensely, but the Mexicans DIDN’T? The Mexicans normally use the MEXICAN Cabinets. It wasn’t a Japanese cart, but the sticks are very similar in that aspect of BEING Japanese like!
Lecter, the tournament holder of Juarez, Warzone CAN confirm this. If this is true, then Bata has no real excuse whatsoever, especially if the Mexicans are at a BIGGER handicap and can STILL perform very well while beating Bata on a cabinet. According to the information provided, there are no sticky buttons, no crapped up sticks, and I’m not sure WHY they’d provide such a cart at a tournament where the buttons would stick. So it seems to me that Bata lost fair and square.

Also, if some player wasn’t in (I think for example, KA2 was not at SBO last year), that could be for many reasons. Maybe he didn’t qualify. Maybe he had to be somewhere (just like Ino couldn’t make it to be on Kuroda’s team last year).
Also, there are newer players rising to the occasion while older veterans stop playing. It happens…the competition at SBO is always extremely high, the highest of any other fighting game tournament.

Clark ended his jump really close to the ground before landing, with jCD. This will actually put the opponent in a guard stance in which they are protected from being grabbed. I guess you can call this a mechanic if you like.

When sides switch, one frame grabs if done immediately upon recovering from switching sides (like a jump or a roll) whill whiff, regardless of whether the opponent is in some guarding stance or not. This is an obvious glitch.

Shonen, Satoshi, Miyako, LimeKey, Eki-Chan, N-O!, Woshige, Tsubu, Ogawa examples of these players do not show up at SBO as often anymore. But hey? What do I know. No, what I told you went way over your head. It’s not really just jump CDs but any jump attack. Doing it, whether it connects or whiffs, puts the opponent into a blocking stance which will prevent throws from working. If the jump attack is done early in the jump, then throw upon landing can connect, but they will not connect if the jump attack was done as late as Clark’s was.
I don’t know what the second half of your comment refers to. When you land from a jump that switches sides, perform a one frame grab as a reversal from that landing, will whiff.
