Who in the US is best at each game

uhh, im mvc1, the tiers went something like this

eddie lee,
myself,
josh wigfall

the order went something like this, i was the only person to beat eddie lee in major tourneys, (WITH THE ONLY OTHER PERSON TO EVER BEAT HIM BEING RICH FUCKING CARNAGE, lol but overall, we both agreed that me vs him was 6-4, could go either way, but he always had the slight edge since gwm duos fuck red venom hard even with the infinite in play (especially if im on 2p side, because he will pop out of infinite before I can kill him due to glitch, and that means I eat a duo/chipdamage). Josh Wigfall handled everyone in USA, except he couldnt beat Eddie due to the fact that he was a striderine player, and GWM teams -> Striderine. vs me, he went 5-5 dead even, I could never say I was better than him or that he was better than me.

The only nagging thing that we:ll never know about is us never being able to play Erik Perez, granted, I only saw him play once back during the last big MVC1 invitational tourney at B5, but he didnt look anything out of the ordinary compared to top mvc1 players, well never know though, too bad. And Eddie could not enter the B5 mvc1 invitational due to him showing up late, but he told me to take that shit for him, haha.

In short, yeah, Eddie is the best at that game.

btw, these topics are kinda dumb because peoples feelings will be butthurt due to their egos, everyone has one even if they dont admit it.

ps, if you werent around back in the day to SEE THESE TOURNEYS or PLAY THESE PLAYERS for yourself firsthand, then its kinda hard for your opinion to be valid since its mostly just hearsay. I have a opinion on the other games since I was around for a lot of the games listed but these topics are kinda silly imo, but i can talk about one of the games I know best at least

But the “whoever” that’s smoking dust is Ruu and Mint… I mean I’m sure they are like on crack when they play but… uh… it’s our word vs. theirs. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yet I don’t care…They can say whatever they want.Cue’s Track record speaks for itself(1st or close to 1st in nearly every slash tournament so far).Seriously, thats the problem with American gamers now…too much Fellatio on Japanese cocks.

Pretty much. I mean Zidane1337 didn’t even win singles at Evo East OR Finals, despite there being no Japanese in either event. He’s definitely proven himself to be good… but best in the US?
Of course everybody is going to think their hometown favorite (or whoever the Japanese say) is the best in the US or whatever, but face it- each region in the US plays other regions how often again?

Mad respect to people who place consistently and all, but seriously, the limited exposure we have to each other makes it pretty hard to say there’s one consistent BEST GG player in the US. There’s plenty of people who could be said to be the #1 player but face it, those people have all lost to plenty of other people come tournament time as well. Your region’s top player may be hot stuff but they’ve all gotten peaced out plenty of times too, so whatever.

If GG had a bigger following and if each region got to play other regions more often, then maybe we’d have something substantial to go by. Seeing who is winning/placing in more tournaments than other people when your region holds more tournaments than every other region combined hardly strikes me as an objective way of approaching this.
I mean Austin doesn’t even HAVE Slash tournaments, period, and other than Evo and Texas stuff, where has Austin even gone this year? (and we don’t even show up to a lot of Texas tournies either) Yet fubar and poon take 3rd and 2nd in Evo singles, so obviously they’re not bottom feeders or anything- yet “tournament performance” wise they haven’t been placing high in a billion tournaments.

this thread is weird but i’ll try throwing in my two cents about notable players who’ve earned my respect in the scene

CVS2 - i still think Buktooth and Kim Hahn are scary
DOA4 - Master and Tom Brady dominate, fuck Jinmaster
GG Slash - Marneto and G.Blood are prolly the best I’ve seen, but I haven’t seen much US GG
HnK - G.Blood’s Raoh is disturbing
KOF XI / NGBC - Answer / Clayton…for now ( come to NEC fools )
MvC2 - Justin / Sanford / Duc versus the world
UMK3 - Shock, ded, Selpex and NinjaGrinder all day
Naruto GNT 4 - Florida evidently has the best scene, you’d have to check Willvolution for the best player though
Rumblefish 2 - i dunno, who beasts at CF?
SC - prolly Dan The Nightmare, but SC3 sucks
Smash - Isai and Ken are legends but let’s not forget ChuDat and PC Chris - ridiculously good
SFA3 - obviously Valle, remember Daigo switched to V-Ryu? he’s why…i’m also surprised nobody mentioned Wes Truelson
3s - Pyrolee and Valle scare me…i like watching Arlieth too
ST - muthafuckin JUMPSUIT JESSE
EX2+ - Burningfist ( fools don’t know about D.Dark…yet )
T5 DR - Crow
TMNT TF - Zar
VF - Ryan Hart I guess doesnt really count, he’s UK

and special shouts to MRWHITEFOLKS for inventing half the shit people do

For some reason Choi never gets the respect I think he deserves in CVS2. I’ve never seen him lose to anyone outside of a console tournament and I LIVE in Norcal.

Ricky just travels more so I think he gets more publicity.

you know hes right… :lovin:

if you think hes wrong come to my tournie and beat me :arazz:

naw but for real come its gonna be fun, lots of guilty gear, and if you dont like guilty gear…smell my kaka finger!

based on?

This thread is delicious madness since it’s about figuring out the one singular best player at each game.

Of course Valle is beast at 3s. Of course Choi eats fools in Alpha 2. But this is about the one best cream-of-the-crop player.

And, like Sabin mentioned, there are egos. But Watson always said you need egos to keep SF heated.

I agree with you Arturo. I mean, yeah, who am I to do this thread? But it’s hella interesting, and in the end, just creates more exciting hype for SF. This thread has been viewed over 1500 times.

Erik Perez was that much of a MvC1 beast? Guy is a Family Fun regular these days, and he was at the XSF cabinet quite a bit at EVO. I swear, I will bring a MvC1 board so all you old school cats can get it settled. But please dust off Mr. Eddie Lee and you and Henry Cen bring him back.

I know he’s the best overall, but is Justin Wong the master of each character in Marvel? Some players I know are better than him at playing as certain teams/characters. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Based on the fact that he has won all his XI tournies in the States…He is who I believe to be the best in Garou as well…

In KOF at EVO he ranks as the higathest American…ontop of the list…Only people th

Lol sure

You did read the EVO results and past tournament results for every DOA4 tournament right?

I would say something, but the man himself posted. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sure 4 years ago. I would say best in the US is a tossup between Shou (lives in Japan now), Maddy, Adam Yuki, Cappo (technically not from the US, dunno if he’s still playing or where he is), Kazu (from Japan, lives in the US), and IMF (if I put Cappo on the list I might as well put him, it’s been about equal time since I’ve seen either play).

this list is fucked up except marvel and 3s.

If that’s the case then Projekt84 is the one to be considered tops as he’s won practically every Naruto GNT 4 Tournament in Florida.

At Willvo '06 (which is supposedly the Naruto players Evo) he lost to HeartNana who hails from Illinois. So I don’t know what that does in terms of who gets placed where.

KOF XI: Arcade Infinity original FOB’s > The Answer and the rest of us!!!

You’ll be surprise how freaking good these guys are, but they don’t post in SRK or join tourneys!!!

Its mostly an underground thing going on at AI when KOF first comes out!

And when I see the other players there that want to prove how good they are, they don’t face the original KOF FOB’s there, just some random guys!!

So if a new KOF comes out, you have to be at AI as much as you can to catch these KOF FOB’s doing crazy shit and combos that don’t get post or noticed 5 months after the game is released, after that they dissapear for some reason:wow:

Hold up I believe AlexGs track record is pretty damn impressive aswell

That’s strictly combo wise and you might as well throw DreemerNJ (GOsBroDansFan on here) in there as well. The topic is for US, I am the only person in the above list from the US. US best active-semiretired UMK3 players:

Let’s stir up some classic UMK3 drama because it’s been a while since there’s been any!

Moe
Lex
Shock
Thrower
Everyone else
Tom Brady

Props2U!!! Isai in SSB64 is probably the best example of being the best in a fighting game BAR NONE!!! He is lightyears ahead of even his closest competitors, even moreso than Wong in Marvel.
