For the love of god, can you just accept that we’ve all pretty much told you the opposite of what you believe and told you that at the end of the day, if your execution is fine, you will have no problems with the izuna vortex.
To be honest, it sounds like you’re just making excuses for Sagat or making excuses because you can’t deal with him.
Before you say, I’m aware I am sounding like a complete tool on this, but I’m pretty sick of seeing excuse after excuse on this topic.
I have no answer to Rush Down Rogs, Turtle Chuns, and any damn Blanka. Honda and Rufus also give me trouble, but I feel a lil more confident in those matchups.
For the love of god you guys are making his izuna loop sound like a divine weapon bestowed upon Claw by God Himself. Anyway, our source of quarrell is the fact that we face diffefrent opponents. What works for you guys seriously doesn’t work for me.
For one, I never am able to hit a EX FBA outside of a combo or cross-up because they are too smart to rush in brainlessly. That and they just arn’t intimidated by it. They throw random stuff out and poof, my impressive lunge goes kaput.
And this is where you could actually benefit from practice. If you can’t land EX FBA easily then you need practice. It is one of claws brilliant moves and it can be a pain in the ass to deal with. It is combo-able and yes, you will actually be surprised by the amount of people who WILL run into it. Hell you can even bait them into doing something by doing a feint then throwing it at them.
The common denominator in this subject of it “not working” is you. Meaning, it does work, you just need to practice, like the rest of us here have.
I can land izunas. I know the positions. What I was saying is the EX FBA lunge at the opponent doesn’t work well for me because they know its not half as scarey as it looks. The instant the Sagat blocks my EX FBA he can jump and give me a nice fierce punch before I spring away from the wall. I’m not refering to the sweep or the Izuna drop, I"m refering to Claw kneeing his opponent. The most success I have with it when using it alone is when I am just outside of their reach. And its a gamble.
It’s fairly easy to punish people on bait with it. I’ve done it countless times on jump-ins.
I’m perfectly aware that you mean the knee since that kinda is the idea behind EX FBA is the hit that slams them into the air.
Lately I’ve noticed that it catches a lot of players off guard if I start off the round with it, doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it has done a lot for me. It’s unsafe but it’s amusing when they fall for it. Because let’s face it. It does happen, even to the most competent of players.
I’ve had no luck with that whatsoever. People are too smart or informed to fall for such a elementry gimick.
keep in mind i’m stictly talking about the Sagat matchup right now. And I notice alot of people that like to dask back do eat my EX FBA plain. But still…quite rare.
Not as much as looking at the High Tier forums cry about the nerfs they are getting in SSFIV. o_0
The Sagat thread if I may point out is very entertaining.
*snatches popcorn from EmblemLord and tells him to pass the salt
Oh, I ain’t crying. Just astonished at how Capcom proves yet again they don’t know anything about their own games. And I’m personally just musing over who imma main in Super.
FBA are usually good against sagat players when they’re knocked down to the ground. There, claw can be tricky in their FBA. It can either turn into a deadly weapon for Claw or it can either be a death-to-the-corner for them. If ur successful in grabbing Sagat with Izuna drops (and I said drops with an s) you can add EX fba into the mix. Usually that comes in handy when sagat players try to dash backwards right when they get up from their previous izuna drops. Look at the links I gave u. Here another one:

Those 3 vids aren’t the only time when a good (and I say good, not incredible) sagat players get caught up into the Claw’s FBA game. I doubt Mago or ojisanboy (actually I think I’ve seen Ojisanboy get spanked with FBA by a claw player but don’t know who. And ojisanboy, in my opinion, is the best Sagat player, ever, period. Even though he’s ranked 2nd underneath mago in japan.) can easily get out of it.
Not sure if u guys seen this but here’s good match against Makoto vs Ojisanboy: (Sound cuts off. Though Makoto, who is no.1 as vega player in japan, doesn’t FBA against Ojisanboy. Prolly b/c he knows he cant get him, he’s too good but watch the epic match.)

and this epic matches from Ojisanboy (to see what I’m talking about) in the 17vs17 team tourney (might want to watch it from beginning, its spoiler for this tourney) <------- No vega sorry =( Just showing more of Ojisanboy’s awesome Sagat.
I think the point was that screeching in top tier forums is pretty much superior entertainment. Low tier players just enjoy (arguably) a different play experience.
If you’re still on about Sagat at this point there is seriously nothing else I can add here other than the Izuna Vortex eats his ass if you can do it and if they know how to get around it, take it slowly, they generally use the same strings and you will find an opening, even when cornered. And the only way to do it. Is with practice.
None of us here got to the skill level we are by bitching that we can’t do something all day on a forum. We got out there and practiced what tips we got from other people.
The old proverb of “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” applies to Vega greatly.
Also, Berserk: I think Mago would easily get caught in it. Tiger shots are easy to FBA over you know XD
I personally have the most trouble fighting Ryu, Ken and Blanka. Blanka is a bitch because he can literally just hold down-back and counter almost everything Vega does. Ryu is a more difficult matchup then Sagat for me. In fact he tends to just feel like a faster Sagat that is less easy to land izuna drop on due to his hitbox. Whenever I get knocked down by a Ryu it just feels like constant 50/50’s being thrown at me, and if I guess wrong I eat an Ultra. Ken is more or less the same but with a kara throw. It sucks.
you are absolutely positively wrong.makoto did not izuna ojisan boy because at that point of time because the concept of doing the loop 1 frame before or after was NOT established.and when a sagat is caught in the loop,no matter who is in control he has a couple of options to get out of it.they are:
1.a late tu(which can be countered by an early izuna)
2.an early tu anticipating an early izuna(which is inturn countered by a late behind the head izuna)
3.when the screen stretches completely so that vega just whiffs the dive.
4.when the screen stretches a bit, although vega does his dive, its advised to drop the loop because the timing is completely safe.
5.walldiving from the opposite wall which becomes a whole new mind game by itself.
so no matter how good you are as a sagat player, the loop is far to cheap to be outweighed by that particular player’s skills.
also please note:its not an fba game, its a izuna drop game on sagat’s knockdown
