Whip it, whip it good - The Poison GD Thread

I learned something from watching another poison player. I saw someone do a combo, and then launch poison in. Then they did her light punch, let both hits come out and then do her M “love me tender”. it will catch them in the air and you can get the throw off it. I use this when I wanna have the opponent infront of me from a hit and I have no meter for an EX move. Can lead to nice wake up punishes.

It’s close :mp: and you can get alot more damage if you do close :hp: Aeolus Dash cancel into close :lp: link into close :mp: and then into :lk: or :mk: LMT so ya…i thought it was common knowledge. you can just go straight into it from close :mp: as well…its easier. but there are more damaging options if your willing to give up the wake up option. bare in mind you could do this from most tag cancel situations…if your using Lili there are tons of set ups for damaging combos from her end…Jamp would surely know about that.

How u do the aeolus dash cancel?

Basically, you do the input for Aeolus Edge, but hold the button and double tap forward/backward to dash in that direction.

omg just by fucking around…i found something with that…

close :hp: (CADC), close :lp: , crouching :lp: , crouching :mk: , WoL x3 omg its soooo hard to do…cuz i suck…but omg its so cool looking.

Edit: and i found a short cut, if it isnt known already or common knowledge yet, you can buffer the dash while you input the Aeolus edge…meaning you dont need to hold down the button you just so this…

close :hp:, :qcf: + :p: + :f: :f: then boom you got a dash cancel instantly and you can link after too that so SICK

ok so its a 1 frame link if you do the CADC into the close :lp: then a 2 fame link into the crouching :mk: damn…its kinda hard for me but OMG Im kinda hyped right now.

i will post this in the synergy thread when i get time but if you plan to use Hugo and go all official team like~ bnb cr. :lp: x2 in cr. :mk: to :hk: KBG and Tag Cancel to Hugo’s Shootdown backbreaker does like 350 damage for 1 stock so its something to consider, works anywhere on the screen so ya…

Edit: also a heads up for anyone who doesn’t know…if your going to use far :mp: as a anti-air…always buffer :mk: LMT because on counter hit it will always connect it seems…will test with entire cast later to confirm this.

This also works if you use Cr. :hp: as well, if it isnt a counter hit its still ok because your +3 on block, you got nothing to lose if you AA and buffer :mk: LMT afterwards…super good. Note…Yoshimitsu’s Jump :hp: is too good…normal AA don’t really work…KBG is the only reliable thing you can do that move…

I actually need to retrain myself to keep away, because once I get the first knock down, it’s like blood in the water to me. I just have to go in.

ahh, well only thing i can say to that is, GET IN DA LAB…i’m kidding…if you play with your friend frequently then its all good right? you guys can help level each other up~

What’s the best jump-in attack for Poison? i was trying HP but misses a lot if my opponent is on air too…

For cross ups, LK. For far air to airs, MP. For close air to airs, HK. HP is good too, but I use it mostly at corners.

I hope so man. I love her design and movelist, but I’m struggling to win. It’s nice to see a high-level player dedicated to her - love the videos. Having Hugo to actually do the damage doesn’t hurt either! =)

backthrow -> jump HP/HK
throw -> LP aeolus -> jump HP/HK

are both 4F safe jump

if you dash after the backthrow you can get crossup :lk: too or do :mp: Aeolus edge to :mk: LMT to keep up the pressure/frame trap…as the fireball will keep them in a tight blockstun if you time it right.

Is your success with j. HP as an air to air good? I’ve found myself sub-consciously abandoning it for j. HK, which seems to have a much more consistent hitbox.

I avoid j,HP as an air to air because her whip gets a hurtbox. air MP is just the safest.

Oh, I see. I knew j. MP had a use, looked too good to be useless.

Something else I forgot to mention, I played a few exhibition matches with a friend that frequents the official team of Poison x Hugo. After getting in the lab with this duo, he’s stealing me from Asuka. The frame trapping on his clap is simply ridiculous in the corner.
