If SFxTK is your first Capcom fighter then it would be best to try in learn characters with more basic fundamentals, like Ryu and Kazuya for this games base structure, there isn’t anything wrong with the characters you play now but…how can i put this…your trying to learn to ride a motorcycle before riding a bike. I say this because unlike SFIV where that game had alot less for you to worry about, this game not only have a crap ton of sub-systems but is also alot of old school BS that will frustrate because you never experienced it before(Rolento’s mix ups in general).
also as a word of friendly advice, don’t over use charge cancels as a bluff…it can ultimately ruin its effectiveness in a battle, you should just be using it cancel your recovery frames atm.
I have play capcom fighting games. for years. So I can do all basic stuff. I just never got deep into these fighting games. I just push buttons and played casual.
oh ok, well there is no real need to go to the noobie thread then o_O just grind it out in training and go online. Trials is a good starting point, then go into training mode and do several scenarios with different characters and what helped me get used to this game was playing the CPU on hard to see what they do in terms of how they handle the character im trying to learn, you’ll put up stuff faster that way, the scenarios are for match specific stuff like learning how to deal with Vega and Rolentos Pokes as they are notorious for having god like pokes… Chun li also~
like its been said in other threads use your characters strengths and don’t try fighting fire with fire especial if your character isn’t suited for it, so for example…Poison should not try to press a button if Rolento is doing stand jabs, it wont end well. same with Vega, if hes spacing you out, you have to respect his claw. I say this because know what tools your character has is only half the battle, the other half is know what your opponent can do and his/her tendencies are.
Yea. I read up on her frame data and I know what moves are save and not safe in general. So I been keeping that in mind. I got use to doing her “Kiss by a goddess” medium When I block at attack for a reversal on reaction. But I also know not to get too greedy with it, cause if the opponent knows I am getting too happy with it, he will just wait for it, and I am left open.
Im Know trying to figure out how to handle other characters As of now, My biggiest Pain is the kazama brothers. Kazuya is my worst then then.
And I creates a method to practice hit confirm. I Use lili and set the cpu to random block and have min in a corner. I do LIli’s Peacock Jive but I do not let the third kick come out unless I hit with the first 2 attacks. If the CPU blocks, I go for a s.LP, s.LP,s.MP, s.HP. If He blocks that, I go back to the peacock jive again. if not, I connet with a launcher. I bring back Lili and repeat. I go for 5 in a row at the start. If I hit 5, I then go for 10 in a row. If I mess up I start back from 5. And I go until I can hit 50.
Thanks for the videos Wolfkrone, I’m learning a lot from these, I’ve been mostly playing Poison as keepaway I had little idea how to get in, but these videos help a lot.
Right now the best I can do is zone out people with poison, but if they catch up to me, I immediately bring Hugo in for the match win.
i feel im able to use Poison’s overhead alittle more because people dont know how to punish it atm, so im going to abuse it for a while, then when it starts getting beat, i’ll chill out on using it~
its bad but its still a mid hitting attack and im not burning 1 stock for a move that can be jabbed out of on reaction so…i’ll take my chances with the overhead ya know. i gotten a few wins with it so im like…its not too bad…not like SCV vanilla Ivy -_-’ but with dat patch im going back to play SCV alittle when it happens, but back on topic, i’ve actually been using Cross Arts alot more o_O so finding reliable combos that go into it is actually pretty fun and makes using Poison less of a one trick pony~
that and i’ve been abusing that godlike backdash too(its no Kazuya backdash with no airborne frames) but its still awesome. That and i think i got to the point where i can on reaction use :hk: LMT as a fireball punish against most projectiles, i don’t let people get away with mid screen fireballs for free anymore so thats something. I think i should note that previous post somewhere. also i gave up on charge dash cancel combos…their damage isn’t worth the execution imo…i drop them like trial 20 and the damage is only 20-30 points more then doing close :mp: to Cr. :hp: in KGB or super~ or even CrossArt if you like…so ya.
