Oh, sure, they’re definitely not what you’d expect from a weapon normal - like having no hurtboxes and such - but I wouldn’t call them bad by any means.
Close LP is 3f startup, far is 6, crouching is 4.
Picking up the game tomorrow, hopefully. Like many, I’m really interested in trying out Poison, just because she’s like the newest toy in the toybox.
Anyways, I’m wondering what the day one thoughts are on her? Stuff like her footsies game, zoning options, comboability. And how’s her damage output? I’m not a high-execution player, so if I’d use her, I’d probably team her with someone like Zangief, Hugo, or maybe Ryu, but how is her execution level?
X_X im so sorry guys, i’d had played it since i picked up the game at gamestop, i went to sleep around noon today and didn’t wake up until a few minutes ago, there is alot of things i want to discuss with people like execution tips on links and timing on certain moves also i ran into some snags in trial mode(i can’t consistently do links for some odd reason) so im only 85% done with those. other then that i’m hyped as hell, the game is fun. the most fun i had playing a fighting game since the release of KOFXIII(im actually having more fun).
Jamp, you were right on alot of key notes, she is self efficient, and does solid damage…among other things. so alot of the team synergy thing has been rather tricky to solve however King and Marduuke work just fine with her, im also feeling the main man as my main right now, yeah Kazuya has some pretty sick combos with homegirl~ also those far stand :hp: into launcher buffers are godlike~ i think its the most effective way to switch out other then Switch Canceling.
another tidbit i wanted to see if this is true, Pandora still gives a Power Boost, was in the lab with it(funny enough its the only way to do true 1 on 1 in training mode) but its like a 13%-15% damage boost still, so its something, but the Pandora Gems are good stuff if your messing around.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I’ll post it anyway. Here’s some corner frame trap technology into big damage.
LK Love Me Tender is +2 on block. You can frame trap that into cr.HP. I’m not sure of the startup on cr.HP, but it should be enough to decently frame trap.
In the corner, you can do this.
LK Love Me Tender, cr.HP xx HP Aeolus Edge
This will either counter hit into a combo or be a safe blockstring to set up another frame trap. If cr.HP connects, you can:
cr.HP xx HP Aeolus Edge, cr.LP, cr.MK xx Whip of Love x3 for 307 damage (Meterless)
cr.HP xx HP Aeolus Edge, cr.LP, cr.MK xx EX Aeolus Edge, cr.MK xx Whip of Love x3 for 363 damage (1 meter)
cr.HP xx HP Aeolus Edge, cr.LP, cr.MK xx Super for 439 damage (2 meters)
If it doesn’t hit, you can contine on with your pressure as you’d like. LMT is SUCH a good frame trap tool and combos off of hit. Use it a lot!
EDIT: cr.HP has 9 startup and cl.HP has 6. You can switch cr.HP for cl.HP for a tighter frame trap!
Does she have anything else that’s + on block?
It is true, that her damage is low. Also I hate this thread title.
Don’t call my girl a Dude.
What I know of so far I love me tender light
And the first hit of whip of love.
I pair her with hugo because I love the intro and she actually supports him not the other way around and his damage tagged on is no joke. I’ll go all power or all defence for the great wall of hugo while I let poison heal up as she waits for her comeback tour.
When I don’t feel like hugos non grappler grappler style I mix it up with vega or juri as her partner, very rarely zangief, he’s simple and solid as fuck he only lacks the great attacks hugo and juri have after a tag.
Used Poison A Lot Tonight along with zangief…gotta say surprised i used her so much and when i did use her i usually played the patient zoning/poking game waiting for the right moment to strike but if poison was taking a beating I’d tag in zangief and bring on the pain!
First hit of WoL is -3 on block
I’m finding her Rekka’s slightly annoying to perform. I’ve never played a Rekka character before and it really seems like you have to do the next one in the series before the first one even hits.
I’m having the same problem. Anyone have any insight? I’m guessing it’s something fairly simple.
Right now the only way I get it to come out 100% is to mash qcb+p like mad.
EX version of jaguar kick hits overhead, anyone tried comboing off it?
I’m able to do the next one in the series as the previous one is hitting. You gotta be on point with that timing, though.
Usually, rekka characters have a leeway to confirm the hit and keep the combo going. Hers seems a bit tighter, but it’s still there I think. You just need to get used to it.
You can combo off all versions of LMT. Just use light attacks.
It’s just a Aerosmith / gender controversy joke. I’m not calling her anything
I. . . am having a hard time zoning anything in this game. I trade heaps with whip normals, and i still haven’t found a goto antiair, but i suppose that’s because the nature of anti airs are nerfed in general.Tech rolls don’t help either.
Her fireball isn’t that great for zoning imo, has bad recovery time and has to be used at 3/4 screen which is just asking for a jump in.
Frame +/- (on block):
Love Me Tender:
L: +2
M: +3
H: +3
Ex:+3
Whip of Love:
1h: -3
2h: -7
3h: -11
Ex1h:-3
2h: -13
3h: -26
4h:-6
Aeolus Edge:
L: -7
M: -3
H: 0
Ex: +1
Her jabs are the only advantage normal on block (+3). The book also points out to NEVER use her elbow drop (overhead move). It’s actually -6 on hit, meaning you can be punished even after a successful hit.
Anyways, I’ve gotten a little mileage with the LMT mix up game. It’s pretty crappy demanding a meter for an overhead, but they all leave you at advantage and combo friendly. Honestly, I get the majority of my damage through zoning. Her MK srk has 9 frames of strike invul while the HK version has none. If they’re jumping in, this will work as a reliable AA, don’t use the HK one. If you’re anticipating a jump, her neutral j.MP swats nicely. The book claims it to be some godly Air vs. Air normal, but I’m positive I’m around 0 for 10 on air exchanges with it unless I anticipated with the nj.
Other stuff I’ve been using:
-Poke with cr.MK while buffering the srk. It’s just like Sakura’s. If that mk connects, they’re eating the whole HK srk, 10 for 10.
-Poison is a charge dash cancel character. You can use this to “FADC” her sweep and exchange combos to make them safe/give more damage. Start practicing it. Down the road, it’s going to be necessary.
-Her Cross Rush chain ALWAYS connects. Poking with s.MP while buffering the cross rush chain is a free launch for a combo heavy partner.
-Fireballs aren’t as good as SF, so you gotta be annoying. I’m talking scrub Guile annoying. Mix speeds, jump away, dash, jump back HP, just get the fuck out. It’s not fun, but Poison dies when she’s rushed down.
-Use the charge to mixup up timing. Throw a fireball, charge one and dash out, charge cancel, throw, charge cancel, let a charged EX rip, etc. If you stand there chucking LP plasma, you’re dead.
-In a pinch, ex srk has 22 invul frames and hits both sides (negating a crossup), you can always mash it out if all else fails.
I like Poison, as a character, but unless you keep somebody out, you’re screwed (as of Day1). Her ability to open somebody up at close range just isn’t there. I’ll keep messing with her though = )
While some of you might be having problems with zoning, I’m having a hard time applying pressure with LMT. Maybe I’m just not used to the clunky SF4 engine but I just get DP’d out of every LMT attempt.
Aoi84 just curious who else are you using with Poison?
So I’ve been using Cammy/Poison for the past 4 days and I’m okay with how this team feels. Poison builds up all the meter I need to keep Cammy in a good situation. (I feel uncomfortable with Cammy and no meter) my day two I found out raw super with Poison is the WORST Idea you could think of trying to break the habit of it, a good way for me to do that is remembering that it’s 1 armor projectile. shotos can hadouken it, Abel can armor through it.
LMT is cool but, I rarely see an opportunity to use it, sometimes I use it to apply pressure to a person trying to block HP, but I probably shouldn’t be doing that now either. does LMT (EX) have Projectile inv? I saw one of my fellow Poison’s travel through a Ryu Fireball, and connect the follow up move.
-6 on hit? Why does that move even exist o_O And yes, EX LMT is fully invincible to projectiles.
Good stuff. Though I’m still convinced that she can open up someone due to charge cancelling. Blocked sweep, dash out of it, grab, LMT, use normals, etc.
Her j.:mp: probably works better if you jump back, since it seems to have a nice horizontal range.
