Hey everyone, I heard you like Poison. I do too, but I also like safe pressure.

Here’s the YouTube description:

Inputs and Explanation

Spoiler

Poison’s Inputs:

  • cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.MK xx Whip of Love x 3

  • Forward Dash

  • LK Love Me Tender (same side)

  • cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.MK xx LP Aeolus Edge

  • cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.MK xx Whip of Love x 3

  • Forward Dash

  • MK Love Me Tender (crosses up)

  • cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.MK xx LP Aeolus Edge

I’m going to assume that Shoryukens (Dragon Punches) are the fastest, non-grab special moves in the game because I’ve been playing the Street Fighter IV games for the last few years. If this assumption turns out to be true, Poison gets safe pressure after her Whip of Love series. Despite being put in an untechable knockdown state by the third Whip of Love attack, the opponent can still roll forward, but Poison will be safe from any attacks.

Also, it appears that Capcom has taken out auto-correcting in this game. Or, at the very least, shortened the reversal window.

really only combos from well spaced aeolus edges.
M. Aeolus works best because the speed is reverse order of rose fire ball speed as I’m sure you all know.

If I’m wrong someone correct me id love to use it other times

Anyone clear Trial 20 yet? Seems like a tricky timing.

Edit: Got it. There’s a -very- small window where you can pick him off the ground with your lk after the 3rd rekka (Don’t do the 4th, its a trap) And you have to delay the super after the mk.

i heard love me tender was actually advantage on block, not just safe
you know, actually good for pressure, not just a little chip and bam your pressure is over

Id be more willing to get through all of them if they were difficult but useful combos (something like sf4 vipers) these just feel like link mania. Ill get once out of the 200 tries the ill never realy get the timing and learn something more damaging.

Ah that sucks, guess it’l be mostly comboing into launcher for me.

you need to get dem poison Titles.

Idk if this has been posted yet but in any situation that you can aa into fireball I recommend doing aa into love me tender grab. It lets you get a bit more damage than you would get by just chucking a fireball and it scores a kd…
What are you guys doing for frametraps. seeing how this is day -3 a lot of people that are online are retarded with their buttons even the “good” ones. I mean my ryu does a pretty good job at shutting down buttons but I need to be able to do that with poison.
and how about block strings? Ive been doing jab jab jab st strong st fierce (not chaining) and that pushes you soo far away but im sure thats not the best thing i can be doing.

Fixed.

So a juggle into LMT follow up still works? That’s nice to hear.

As for frame traps -this is just theory fighter based on all the info we had so far of course, you should test them beforehand - try doing c.:lp: into cl.:mk:. LMT has adv on block and when Ricky was playing I say a lot of trades and counter hits - on Poison’s favor - whenever he tried to press buttons after a blocked WoL, so that could work too.

For blockstrings you can just end the string into Aeolus Edge or the first hit of WoL, since these are safe and will get you extra meter and some chip. You could also try using LMT in case they like pressing buttons to bait some crouching normals.

derp, Poison feels weird, only got like 2 matches with her, will spend more time on her tomorrow though =D
Love me Tender is amazing btw, love that move to bits.

anyways, if you guys have anything you want me to try out or test lmk and I’ll do my best ^^ seems there’s also a few dudes doing that but thought I’ll offer doing it anyway =P

We can do the corner combo without meter using the heavy Aeolus. j.:hp:, c.:hp: xx :hp: Aeolus, c.:lp:, c.:mk: xx WoL. Does pretty good damage.

You won’t get to use that combo ever though with no stuns and easy get out of the corner free options available for everyone

yay, i wake up and i see some good tech~ What Vesper did in the last trial looked so retarded…EX Wol cutting short like that, but the fact that Close St. :lk: looked like it OTG is pretty cool…it almost makes me wonder if there are more moves like that or if the normal version of her WoL could do that. But that Meterless Combo you put up Jamp trail what 18? It does ALOT of damage for a no meter. uhhg…it looks like my Poison gameplan is overlapping with my SSFIV Cody one…meaning getting dat ass in the corner and putting in work. Normal WoL is just like :mk: Ruffin Kick…so much push back, so getting into the corner shouldn’t be too hard.

Jamp if you could can you list the number of frame traps we know of currently and ones to be tested?

Let`s see…

  • LMT on block should be a free frame trap since we should be in advantage. Confirmed, somewhat?
  • Blocked :hp: Aeolus Edge. Also somewhat confirmed, I guess.
  • A blocked first hit of WoL might work. Needs testing though.
  • c.:lp: into cl.:mk: might work too. Ditto.
  • Testing cl.:mp: or :mk: into c.:mp: or :mk: is also a good idea, I think.

I don’t know about that…as Jamp would say…The possibilities are endless? to get them into the corner. Tech rolls can be read, Poison’s back throw is good to throw them back into the corner , WoL and KbG can force Quick Rise instead of tech roll, and you got other potential options…plus you can’t mash on tag… to tag out either so if the pressure is tight enough then they have resort in burning the meter for a Crossover Counter or other character specific options to get out of that situation…

Edit: @ Jamp, isn’t Cr. :hk: Canceled into Aeolus Edge Dash Canceled a frame trap too?

No idea. That’ll depend on how much frame advantage we’ll get from a cancelled blocked sweep.

Also about that combo, sure, a corner jump-in combo should probably not work, but that won’t stop us from hitting it with frame traps and corner pressure, will it?

Besides, it might be even easier to hit it off a frame trap since we won’t be getting the extra pushback from the jumping attack. Gotta test it, though.

Right~ i’m just going off on a limb from what Seth K. said on stream, but thats to be tested.

But that combo seems very practical, even if its a corner only combo because of the :hp: Aeolus Edge, however without adding it, wouldn’t that combo be one of her strongest wiff punishers?, like neutral jump set ups? or should we just use :hp: standing or Crouching instead of Cr. :lp: to Cr. :mk: link?

i’m retarded and can’t figure out trial #19
halp.
i can do everything but link cancel cr. forward into whips.
wtf…

what version should i be using?? if i use fierce it seems to hit once and then launches?! argh frustrated

I just beat her trials today lol, and they are easy at first, but her last couple ones are ridiculous (it took me forever to get Trial 20, if that isn’t a 1 frame link to get the :lk: to basically OTG, IDK what is…)

As for her Trial 19, this is what you have to remember since it is key, if you chain a L–>M or a L–>H or a M–>H, the game automatically thinks you are doing to do a launcher combo. In order to avoid this, after the first normal, you have to a take a pause (extremely short, I would guess a couple frames) and then do the next normal. If you do it that way, the second normal should be able cancel in to the special move, in this case whip of love. I did light whip of love only because when it comes to specials, unless it states otherwise, I always think that light comes out the fastest so I do that in case I pause even the slightest by mistake.

So in Trial 19 you would do:

  • Jump :hp:
  • Cr.:hp:xx Heavy Aeolus Edge
  • Cr. :lp:
  • pause (practice just the cr.lp to the cr.mk xx whip of love for a while until you get it down, it really helped me for this trial)
  • Cr. :mk: xx Light Whip of Love x3

so that rekka into dash into lmt is not the best thing to do. While it does stop you from getting dped on someones wake up it leaves you fully open to throws and I was thrown a lot today after that setup so i say we should just look for safe jumps that actually hit the person so we get pressure w/o the risk of getting thrown. I will go to the lab and post what I find tomorrow
