Whip it, whip it good - The Poison GD Thread

We should start making the names and abbreviations for all of these terms so when the game comes out thats done with.

I was thinking about pairing Poison up with Lili. Poison can back lili up for meter and lili can use that meter to deal massive damage. lili will have that 100 point healing gem so in a sense she may have near up to normal health.

CA=Cross Art
SA=Super Art
SC=Super charge
C.AS=Cross Assault
TC=Tag cancel
CR=Cross rush
DC=Dash cancel

IP gem= Immense power gem
IW gem= Iron wall gem
FT gem= Fortitude gem
DS gem= Divine speed gem
OSL gem= onslaught (Can’t use OS since that is used to option select.)
Life gem= life force gem
Pro gem= Proficiency gem
HZ gem= Harmonize gem

I think Switch Cancelling should be SC, since you’ll probably be using that one more often in combos. It’s annoying that so many of the new mechanics have the same abbreviation…

I prefer the term Tag Canceling more.

I do like that we’re talking about gem sets for Poison. Hopefully, the others will follow suit.

I think i’ll change switch cancel to tag cancel so it fits better.

I’m gonna do

FT: get hit by a five hit combo
IW: get hit by 4 normals

and a OSL: Have 4 attacks blocked or Pro: land two special moves,

come to think of it those two work out okay as well.

just so you guys know, Gems Effects only work on the character they are Equipped to, Thus if you have a Onslaught lv.2 activated, its effects wont go to your partner, only the meter you have built for them will stay and your Gem duration will still count down.

the Synergy will rely on how well your Gems “overlap” with your partners or by how “effective” they are whenever they do activate.

Personally im looking at EX gems as they kill two birds with one Gem, and alot of their effects are strong and worth the two slots. but really just goes off you playstyle.

I hope I’m not seeing things, her DP looks a lot faster. Also, the range on her punch Cross Rush is downright retarded, me likes.

Also, rook, do you know which one of her close kicks she uses as an anti-air at 1:52? Looks pretty good.

it was St.MK. its kinda like Chun Li’s, so yeah its pretty good~

yeah her SRK looks buffed…because i initially didn’t like it much because of the slow start up, you had to almost predict their jump instead of doing it on reaction. But its fasters and looks to have more frames of invulnerability from what i can see

Maybe if you used it at the edge of her whip… it maybe safe?

Edit: From that other video her new dp seems as fast as her ex.

Unsafe Rekka for a faster DP? I’ll take it. She doesn’t need a safe rekka since she has a fireball anyways.

The recovery on her DP also looks pretty good, she could block nearly instantly once she landed. At least she won’t be punished on the ground, though I can’t say the same for anti-air juggle punishes.

ALL CHARACTER from 3rd Strike have GODLIKE recovery on their DP’s. Dudley, Ibuki, Elena. Even though she is FF i still consider her a 3rd strike character

i’ll test out her rekka because since it was not too far off the tip of it. It only looked like it can be punished by a 3 frame move.

Also her dp looked like it came out in a near instant and had a near instant recovery.

@Genistar, thats for that find…i gotta update! also can you check to see if the strength of her rekka changes the distance?

@Jamp, it does seem like her DP is better, and about Anti-air Vs recovery from her DP…im unsure on how the system gauges that now but i only seen jabs or air-to-to normals put people into juggle states from move recovery. however that is something that needs alot of testing, because all DP like moves could be potentially bad to use if blocked.

@Melfomil, More or less, I’d Considered Poison a SF3 character as its her first canonical SF appearance, but people will aways consider her a FF character as its the character’s Original game.

at this point, what version of her DP is worth using or should it stay situational?

I think her rekka works just like any other. lp goes the least distance and hp goes the furthest and it the most unsafe.

As for the DP i would say medium would work best since most mid moves work best atm.

It will depend on how different her DP versions are. SSF4 Ken has one use for every single version of his DP whereas SSF4 Cammy has no reason to use anything but her HK DP.

But judging from the videos, her DPs don’t look that different from one another, so we’ll probably just get a “LK has less invincibility, HK has more and does more damage” case.

alright i’ll keep that in mind, also i want to mention she has a (close) St.HP as well…on block it pushes back~ so thats something to think about. Im unsure if its Special Cancelable but thats most likely the case.

but i think we got all her normals…finally…I just have a feeling she mite have a target combo, if not then thats ok~ but it doesn’t hurt to check the command list anyways~

@Jamp~ you wanted me to start on any projects right now? like finding good teammates for Poison(tag cancel combos ect.?) or things Gem related?(builds and strategies)

Edit: After watching the Dev play Poison on stream again, i think St.MP and Cr.MK is going to be a link, i just think he messed up the timing, it seems like it would work though.

Poison/Bob

Pn-
Can zone while Bob heals
Has a bit of meter to herself because bob can do decent damage off of meterless combos.

Bob-

Bob can also use the meter she builds to buff his reversal and add more damage.
He can reflect projectiles.
Can go through projectiles so you can mainly use poison to keep your meter up or put her as a sub for the remainder of the match.

Poison/Julia
Zone
Build meter for Julia

Jul-
Decent damage
From what i read from the Julia thread she adds so many more options to Poison’s Juggles.
Nice reversal
Can go through projectiles.

Poison/Lili
Poison won’t have much meter for herself but can help lili become a threat with damaging ex moves.
A good substitute for when lili is about to die.

Lili
Can use the ex that poison built for her to deal massive damage to her opponent.
Excellent damage
Has no problem with projectiles

Poison/Kazuya
Same as everything else.
I have to find the paper there are like 2 more i thought were good.

Yeah I can agree with those(Poison/Lili would be a personal favorite of mine…swap costume too.)

Kazuya is just raw damage so i can see that, Bob has alot of Juggle Potential with his strings and extensions of his special moves. Julia is a solid character in general, so she is another no brainier.
