Whip it, whip it good - The Poison GD Thread

idk if writing the sagat v rose match up for sfiv helps but if you want to see how i wrote it, i can get the link for you.

sure, that’ll help.

I was thinking about writing up the damage values for poison in this game and for other characters.

yeah, i was thinking about doing the same as the game gets released so i know exact figures. so far i just have estimates but i know overall damage in this game is pretty high in general. but for her special moves its weird.

Aeolus Edge does the same as ryus normal fireball, but it hits 3 times but has the same fireball durability. EX hits twice and its odd because in wins and loses against different projectiles in different builds…so i think thats something they are messing around with as in the gamescon build it would eat both of Ibuki’s EX kunai’s but in later builds it just trades or loses.

Kissed by a Goddess actually does terrible damage…only the EX one does decent damage but it far off from EX shoryuken, or Tiger Uppercut. this move only seems good when EX’ed right now…

Whip of Love is good though, it vary from build to build but the last one, it does as much as fei’s rekkas. i have no clue on the values of the EX one as its never completed in any videos i seen recently.

Love me Tender didn’t do much in old builds…it was kinda pointless then but in recent builds, it does a decent amount(roughly the same as King’s giant swing if completed). the initial hit generates enough hit stun to combo from it…but the move isnt safe, if you think of it like Juri’s dive kick…then yea. Its only safe from maximum distance but even then…some characters mite be able to punish it.

the Super still does 40% only on clean hit…if its used out of a CrossRush…it scales really hard and its pointless. so the only time you should ever see this special is either punishing a raw tag or anti air(only point blank range), or part of a CrossArt.

Her DP looked a lot faster on the Gem Stream.

With the power up gem her normal dp should do some decent damage. I’m really starting to like these gems.

I feel the same. Disregarding the DLC bullshit, Sped-up Poison looked sexy as fuck.

i agree Jamp, I agree~ although im kinda mad that I was wrong about comboing into Pandora…but i guess it has a used now. but Gems dont do shit for damage…you seen what a 40% did to ryu’s fireball?..uhhg.

I still don’t know what this new feature is…

Her fireballs don’t seem to hit 3 times anymore, at least going from what I saw in the stream.

It was a troll on Ono’s part.

yeah i noticed that too, well updated my memo…

also the gem selection seems fast so, i can say “almost” for sure gems are tournament legal…

Assuming they weren’t using preset gems in the character selection screen, it seems really fast and easy.

at event scrubs, i updated the thread i made there…things like pratical combos and the addition her having a close St. HK…among the system notes we all know now.

More like mistranslation

I’ll be taking this discussion over to this thread. So anyways, after seeing Sped-Up Poison, I’m thinking of going with 3 different types of gems: A Cross Gauge acquisiton gem, a Speed Boost gem and maybe a Vitality or Cross Gauge usage gem, all of them activating with connected special moves.

Sounds really solid~ I was thinking about either running a gem set that activated via partners launcher, or the 40% damage and 5% speed boost from landing 10 normals(requires one DLC gem). Im starting to lean over more to defensive gems too…the EX Ironwall(10% healing) lv.2 combined with Onslaught lv.2 both with the block 10 attacks requirement seems pretty solid because i want Poison to live long enough to do what shes gotta do.

Edit: i just found look at a 45% speed boost build when you connect 4 special moves.
-EX Divine speed lv.2(30% for 30 seconds)
-Divine speed lv.2(15%, -8% defense for 20 seconds)

Dat speed…

Here are some gem sets i thought of for poison. I named them so i can remember them

Assist set
Onslaught gem lv1 (Land a reversal) 20%
Iron wall gem lv1 (Block 5 normals) 20%
Immense power gem lv1 (Block 5 Normals) 10% [I might replace this one with another Onslaught Gem so she can add more meter for the point character.]
(I believe this will allow her to build meter for her partner very quickly and the other two gems will make the opponent think twice before attacking her if they are activated first.)

Substitute point set
Immense power gem lv 2 (Connect with a launcher)
Divine speed gem lv 1 (Connect with Launcher)
Iron wall lv1 (Cross assault.)
(I think this will keep her stabilized while her partner is healing.)

Battery set
Immense power lv2 (Launcher)
Damage reduction lv1 (Cross cancel)
Onslaught gem lv 2 (Connect with a launcher.)
(This should provide some solid back up to her partner.)

Thinking about gems sets is pretty fun. We should think of a bunch for poison and for release day we should test them out along with combos we think of for her.

the only thing I would be wary about is the fact that the gems with the launcher as a activation condition means you have to tag cancel back to Poison for it to be useful as she would just activate her gems and be tagged out right after(losing time on the gems) so it should be noted that you should at least have 1 stock before trying to activate those gems in those gemsets. other then that, pretty solid~ i like the first one, and the battery one~ though my battery set would be.

EX Onslaught lv.2 20% meter acquisition (10% healing or 10% attack)
Onslaught lv.2 20% meter acquisition, 15 seconds.
Activation Condition: connect with 4 special moves.

I don’t know all the different gems off the top of my head, but this one in particular intrigues me. I’ve thought since the beginning that Poison would be terrifying loaded up with Speed and Power gems, but the substitute idea seems interesting. What if, instead of putting Poison on point, we put someone else with longer reach there instead with this gem loadout? Let’s say Hugo, perhaps. We might get something like this:

Step 1) Hugo takes some damage. He connects with a launcher, activating the first two gems.
Step 2) Poison comes in armed with the gem benefits.
Step 3) Painful mixups. Painful mixups everywhere.
Step 4) Time passes. Hugo is rested, and gets tagged back in.
Step 5) Eins. Zwei. Drei.
Step 6) Win.

If the effect really does carry over to the partner character, this opens up quite a few new possibilities for team synergy. Now I’m curious to see where this could go…

We really need to come up with some names for the similar gems.

Anyways, instead of using the Onslaught (Connect with 3 Special Moves) gem I think I’m going with the Onslaught (Have your attack blocked 4 times) gem, since this will likely sync pretty well with Poison’s zoning and will complement her ability as a battery really well.
