Whining about Fei Long and Fei Long Players thread with some Hawk mixed in

I have no clue. They’re the only two which can always block it standing for some reason, and there’s nothing random about it.

It would help if it can at least hit Balrog. :arazz:

I should point out that even though Fei’s ability to build meter is not as good as before, he can still build meter pretty damn quick with his special moves. You should be able to use at least 2 Super meters per round if you keep that in the back of your head.

Number of Executions to get a Super Meter.

Flame Kicks (Any Version) - 8

Rekkas (Any Version) - 12

Chicken Wings (Any Version) - 8

If you have opponents turtling against you, build your meter! Also develop some block strings as well. When you throw someone, use rekkas immediately to close the distance instead of just walking over to them.

You want to build meter any chance you get, and Fei is among the best to do so.

Idk about other chars, but shoto dps take 6 for meter. Fei can’t waste time if a shoto builds meter behind his hado.

No doubt.

With Fei’s style, you should be in his face if he tried to pull a stunt like that since he’s giving you an opening. Nevertheless, you can still build meter quick with Rekka, CW, and block string pressure.

Yeah definitely, but i tend to always give fei a hado to deal with. I haven’t met a fei yet that scared me with CW though.

Im bored.

meaty s.fp, walk forward s.fp xx rekkas

c.fp, c.fp usually dizzies

c.lk, s.fp xx rekka

meaty c.mk, s.fp xx rekka

c.lk, c.lp xx super

s.lp, s.lp, c.lp xx super

s.mp, c.lp xx super on fatties

s.mk, s.fp xx rekkas

f+rh, link any normal that reaches (sweep would be best)

s.lp, s.lp, c.lp xx rekkas

air-to-air CW, juggle with another chicken wing if 1-hit, hk flame kick (sometimes after a one hit you have to rh flame kick cause they are too low)

air-to-air CW, super

That’s a list on important links etc to know if there isn’t one somewhere buried in all these pages. Also, c.lk links are so much easier when meaty.

Good shit thanks dude.

I think we should talk more about the Matchup of Fei vs Dhalsim.

Me, and Ramza were playing a ton of matches against a Sim player in this one room. We played this guy for about 70+ matches.

I never realized how much the nerfs to Fei really fucks him against Sim. Rekkas aren’t a viable option (They still work of course) because Sim’s normals will stop you cold.

CW is easily punishable with Sim’s slide thanks to the nerfs. CW whiffs enough as it is against him.

Flame Kick which I think was the most brutal nerf of all, is very risky against him. You can’t hit Sim’s slide AT ALL. On top of it he can punish you everytime. Jumpsuit recalls being able to punish slide with flame kick in ST (Can it be confirmed?). I don’t think Sirlin messed with the hitboxes, so I don’t know why it’s not hitting him.

The only thing you can do with flame kick is psychic flame kick his limbs. It’s also possible to stuff most of his normals with s.HP and c.HP but that will only get you so far.

I think the changes to Fei did not improve this matchup, but made it worse. What can Fei do in this matchup now? How are you managing to deal with Sim now?

you can use mk/hk flame kick against slides.

I fought agaisnt fatboy’s sim for around 10 matches and while he did win the majority it was fairly competitive. HP is a good tool to stuff him out, I won a lot of rounds but simply anticipating his slide and stuffing them with a well timed c.HP. Rekka’s are okay to narrow the distance but u really need to catch him off guard, in other words ur offense needs to be very unpredicatable to break though a good sim’s defense. Playing defensive with conventional offense will get u killed especially if Sim get’s u at mid/full screen.

f u get Sim cornered then the fight does heavily favor u, I managed to lock fatboy pretty good with simple LK CW tricks and the occasional tick throw setup for a couple rounds. Never flame kick however, it is completly punishable and virtually useless outside of hitting sim’s limbs. The same goes with CW’s, sim can slide under them and get a free throw on u…only CW’s during lockdowns but even then be very cautious. Flame kicks and CW are highly situational, my advice is to be as unpredicatable with there use…it’s the only way u will catch a good sim’s defense.

In sumation, the match is very bad agaisnt Fei but if ur crazy enough with ur offense and willing to take risk defensivly then u might be able to score a win here or there. Rekka’s are still usable and Fei’s pokes do help him out…it’s winnable but just don’t expect it that much lol.

Boy do I really feel bad for you Fei playerrs. Ive been playing him all night in classic ST with some people and man does he just feel right with his old chicken wing. His new CW feels so useless and like it doesnt fit Feis playstyle.

Don’t remind us.

I still win matches I guess, I just get my ass handed to me everytime I fight a good player who uses a counter-character…which in fei’s case is a lot lol.

It’s unreal how much st.LK rapes Cammy!

I never used it against her untill I saw James Chen spamming it against Syxx.

It beats Cannon Drill, Hooligan Throw, and in most cases Cannon Spike when they’re trying to get in.

I’m not even sure she has an answer to it!

Just be careful to not be in range of her cr.MK

From the perspective of a honda player, might give some insight on how to fight this match better http://forums.sirlin.net/showthread.php?p=49260#post49260

Any advice for a Fei struggling against Boxer? Baiting headbutts ain’t enough to do the job so far.

The first thing to do is get the health lead. Once you do, you can either hang back and spam the shit out of cr.MP and cr.HP which stuffs Rog rushes cleanly or use rekkas as they stuff his rushes as well. Rekkas are probably your best bet because you can use them to bait for Headbutts.

A blocked headbutt can be punished by canceling cr.LP into x3 rekkas. That’s big damage so never let blocked or whiffed headbutts go unpunished.

You must have you reversals down to deal with his headbutt loops.

Fei’s s.FP/c.MP/c,FP are generally his best poking tools to beat rog cleany…however do not become predictable with this. Never jump in on him or ever attempt a cross-up either, this also goes for meaties. U have to maintan the distance and battle him from ur furthest poke, AA every jump-in and punish all his hedbutts. Use LK CW to chip away at him when close enough as it comes out quick and will usually catch rog off guard. The trick is to bait the rog player into expecting this thus forcing a headbutt which u will block then punish.

If rog has u cornered and locked into a guard string I recommend not trying to reverse or counter-poke. At this distance he simply has to many fast and devasting options to pummel u effortlessly which is why it is best to wait till the onslaught is over. Chip damage is better then being caught by a combo, and through ur patience u will force the rog player to become reckless.Do not use flame kick unless it is a AA as it’s bad recovery on block will give rog a free hit or super.

If rog is playing defensive and is crouching u can obviously tell he has a charge going, never jump in while he crouched as a headbutt is always in the works. 1 good gimmick is to walk forward then crouch as it will trick the player into thinking u went for a CW thus bating them into a headbutt. U should try throwing rekka’s whenever he is playing defensive as well since they usually release faster then more rog players can react to. This goes agaisnt most characters generally, if there are long stretches of time when the opponent is just crouching or moving back then that is usually a good oppurtunity to get in some free chip damage with the rekka’s. It is still a diffuclt match that fei will lose more often then not…but at least we can make it competitive lol.

Hey what’s a good triple rekka string? I can’t get jab rekka x3 to work since the last hit simply won’t hit. fierce rekka x3 is nice but horribly unsafe on block. I need one that is generally safe and will allow me to get the knockdown with the third hit. If the third rekka is never safe that’s ok too. Since I know I can always to a jab rekka for the second one and stop there fairly safe.

:hp::mp::lp: or :hp::mp::mp: depending on distance.

Might be a better option but that has worked for me in my very short time playing Fei.
