just read through the whole thread today, thanks though.
Magneto is my meter builder. He can build a bar of meter easily while doing great damage.

The original point of this thread was to find suitable batteries for a Phoenix team.
In my opinion, for a Phoenix team, not only your 2 characters have to get well together (assist wise each other), and be able to dish reasonable damage without hyper combos (unless you could kill an important character)…
…but also they might need to be rushdown oriented, because you usually don’t want the clock to run out, and if you play keepaway battery you might end with only phoenix and your opponent running from you with more life, without killing her.
To be a good battery for a Phoenix team, i think you only need a couple of characters that can fight well together and be able to rushdown, both of them.
Amy and Doom were a good choice in the last streams, both can rushdown or keepaway, and both assists helps each other, but with a little time, people will find other combinations.
best battery in the game is imho Mags. starting to hate that character.
when i say best battery im not talking about best meter builder… im talking about best meter builder that can destroy teams easier than other meter builders.

Maggie is sick at everything in this game, that is all.
I dont think this game follows the past examples of battery/user/anchor. Personally how I describe team order is point/utility/anchor, this is more self explanatory and better describes how teams operate. No one really gains meter for your next character to use (ok phx) you just get meter and use it when you can. Your utility character is usually second for a reason, because they have some utility that is beneficial to not being on point, wesker being a prime example (low assist + glitch). Of course your anchor is either your strongest comeback character or one you choose to put last to protect, while your other two characters can use it.
this is how i think of it as well. i just think that everyone here including myself has just been derping it up with “battery” as the common jargon.
point/utility/anchor is a much better descriptor for the average team layout.
it works for my current team which is wolvie/ironman/akuma
ironman is utility simply because he doesnt fit in the first slot well since wolvie is a much better and more obvious choice. he also doesnt fit in the anchor role as well as akuma since akuma has easy VERY fast ways of 100% damage… either character isnt the best anchor out there and they both do better with assists, but akuma has more neutral game than ironman does.
spot on observation.

haggar/sentinel
What i do is use a character if some decent normals and the meter building morrigan assist. Just keep the opponent busy with your normals and call the morrigan assist. It also helps to be good in morrigan, since people can just do a snapback if your not carefull.
I have to say task is probably the best simply cuz he builds a lot of meter and hits hard…maybe harder then wesker or tron im not sure so dont quote me.
Chris has this combo that gives you 2.5 bars
Magneto (Can essentially build 3 meters by himself in 1 combo)
Chris (2.5 Meters in a Combo)
Chun-Li (2 Meters in a Combo with the ability to aerial exchange at the end for an additional 3rd. Bonus: If you don’t aerial exchange or come in from the correct position, it will leave them in the corner)
I think those are the 3 best batteries. Very easy to get to level 5 with no assists needed.
Magneto, but there is a difference.
For a Phoenix team, I would never use Magneto at all, nor would I use Haggar or Zero. Low health characters don’t make good compliments to the lowest health characters, especially in a phoenix team, where it is almost always a battle of attrition. I know Clockwork can rock Ammy and Doom, but Doom has good health and builds meter on his chip.
Personally, I feel like Spencer or another really versatile character gets the job done on a Phoenix team. Because he can zip line himself away from pressure and spam Morrigan’s assist, and he can do decent BnB damage off of simple combos, and spam Morrigan assist as well. I feel a battery assist is good for Phoenix too, cause you never want to have Phoenix last, you want her at least second so you can XFC and build meter with that assist in DP mode.
But to find a good character who doesn’t utilize meter? Good luck. Taskmaster is a good decision, but his normals are too slow, he’ll die. Haggar gets zoned for free, I’d say Thor, but he requires too much meter, and low health characters get bodied too easily to compliment an all phoenix team.
Still, you want a really good meter builder that’s versatile enough? Go with Spidey. Because to do his most unsafe shit is a super combo, and with Web ball for zoning and web zip for rushing in, you can make use of his many hit combos and resets to build your way to 5.
I agree with you on Spider-Man. He will usually generate 2 or 3 bars for every 1 he needs to spend. He doesn’t build it quickly (the 3 I mentioned above meter better and faster) but he is very low on meter usage and can pretty much fly solo if you need him (He can rush down, zone, and run away better than most of the cast. He’s a jack of all trades kind of character).
Blanka. Dude just generates electricity by mashing buttons. Best battery there is.
i hope you joking cuz blanka not in the game
Taskmaster does have slow normals but his standing normals have range and his m standing hits twice so ppl unfamiliar with him may drop guards early. Taskmaster to me is just a great battery simply because IMO battery’s should do to things BUILD METER and do HIGH DAMAGE with out meter which task can do effectively. Task is so much better when he can actually use that meter which is why a LOT of ppl may use him second instead of on point.
Chun-li Spam legs = gain currency

But I’d have to add another vote for Magneto (if you plan on actually using the meter)
