It’s a tie, because Vitual Fighter 4 is nothing without Akira and Tekken is nothing without Paul.
A-FUCKING-GREED
You are a moron....... if you think that vf would be nothing without Akira. i have already played T5, and the popularity will depend on wheather people can do stuff in the game 2 seperaate it from T4, but right now it looks like the same old bull shit with a new coat of paint....
I think this thread needs to die
VF 4 Fans are just going to continue to say VF is better.
T4 Fans are going to continue to say T4 is better.
This thread is going nowhere but scrub city and needs to go away for awhile.
Too bad I’ve never heard of a scrub VF player :). I know during EVO last year that people loathed the fact that they had to watch the T4 finals before CVS2 and MVC2 went on. Heard that comparatively, the VF4 finals got some applause
That’s because the Shun guy started playing for the crowd, rather than playing to win. That and niggas started "ooo…"ing after win quotes since, unlike Tekken, some of them talk some real (G-rated)shit after a win. Everything before Shun was rather vanilla, actually. There were some neat tricks that flew over the heads of everyone else there, but the real highlight was Shun doing all the great drunken style shit that makes the other player look bad. =p
That’s wrong, because Akira, while being the poster boy for the game, is NOT the most popular character.
Akira is the most popular.
no he is not.
I havent checked the VF.Net reports in quite sometime but months ago there were more registered Jacky and Kage players than Akira.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jacky and Kage were popular than Akira, because there both are much easlier characters to play with. Akira requires a more technical playable stradegy. It’s all about timing with Akira.
Now THAT’S deep
Make up your fucking mind. Either Akira is, or he isn’t. Which the correct answer is no, he isn’t. I honestly wonder where you get your consistantly wrong info from, as well as your blind conviction that you are so unwaveringly correct.
Umm… EVERYONE in VF can use that tactic, you know. Hell, Jeffry is harder to use than Akira.
I’m going to say a few more things on this thread.
-Whoever wasn’t at Evo shouldn’t be talking about what happened at Evo. There were large amounts of cheering for Tekken 4 during the finals.
-It’s been pretty much accepted that the ability to beat Jin is the difference between novices and decent players in t4. T4 players admit that Jin may be cheap, but like anyone else, he is beatable. Only 3 Jin players in the finals at Evo this year, one of which got peaced out in his first match. Had all the US, Korea, and Japan showed, there would have been even less Jins. Get over the JFLS, and move on. Please.
-It’s way too early to tell how good t5 is yet. I don’t think anyone posting before 11/22 has even played the game, so you shouldn’t even be making comments. T5 is a very different game from t4 (yes, I’ve played it). This thread is comparing VF4 and t4 anyway, so such discussions are moot.
-Anyone who says VF4 or t4 is for mashers/scrubs IS a scrub. Period.
-Although I already respected VF4 players because I used to play VF2 heavily, I now understand a lot of the things that it has over tekken. I might give vf.com a look as well. Thanks guys.
Later.
Who is?
Kage?
lolololololololamillion~#~~~]]'s
Anyway; yeah, VF without Akira pretty much is like Tekken w/o Paul.
Popularity doesn’t even count here; it’s the fact that both of these characters bring something to their respective series that can’t be replaced by another character who uses the same moves, or something similar.
Paul Phoenix - I salute you!

Too bad the first thing even top players said about T5 Jin was “at least he doesn’t have JFLS”. Even without JFLS, he still has 2,1 and the hellsweep, which I never found to be that good at a intermediate level, but apparently is pretty good at higher levels. I disagree about less Jins were there more people showing up…
2,1 isn’t +1 on block anymore…
Well I was referring to T4 jin’s other weapons. I heard T5’s 2,1 still gives advantage, but the pushback on block makes it useless
I was stating the fact that Jacky and Kage are easier characters than Akira. I guess taking the easy way out would make any character popular besides Akira.
Akira is the most popular. He’s always in the front of the cover and is influenced by most of the fans and especially the company. The fact reminds that Virtua Fighter 4 is naked without the primary source which is known as Akira and that goes with Paul on Tekken 4+. I experimented with both Akira and Jeffery. Akira still reminds the deeper character. It’s easy for me to play with a wrestler like Jeffery. Tekken 5, Paul is just plain top tier against anyone.
I don’t know what game you’re playing, but right now, Julia is considered top in T5 by the Japanese and Koreans, along with Kazuya and some others. The Korean tiers list thus far was posted over at Tekken Zaibatsu if you’d like to see it.
Right now Paul is low tier.
EDIT: Here’s the current tier ranking from Korea.
Rank A
Asuka, King, Hwoarang, Law, Julia, Bryan, Kazuya
Rank B
Feng, Steve, Nina, Marduk, Raven, Xiaoyu, Jin, Christie, Lei
Rank C
Jack-5, Lee, Yoshimitsu, Paul
