Average Akiras have a higher chance of winning than expert Jeffrys. I’ve been to Tokyo, and the few VF hubs we have here in Oki, and have played and witnessed a LOT of matches. Even shitty Akiras have more tools to work with than Jeffry. It’s not merely the ease of use, because if that were true, Lei Fei would be the toppest of the top.

Umm… NO. Just because a character is the poster boy does NOT equal popularity. Were that the case, then EVERY in game intro would be based on him, as well as being the prominent figure in all the art on every example I just gave. Hell, in the Evo version intros ALONE, he didn’t show a single one of his new moves, just did a short kata. VF4 is naked when it loses its individual components of its engine, not when a character disappears.
Its easy to PLAY as Jeffry, now try seriously winning with him. It’s harder than it looks.

And yes, Kage is popular than Akira. In terms of character and someone’s preference in using someone as strong as Akira.
