I’m a complete rookie at 3D fighters. I like VF4 better than Tekken because it just feels more complete to me. I tried Tekken 4 and couldn’t really grasp anything remotely complex. It just doesn’t feel right to me. VF4, on the other hand, made a lot more sense to me. Even the stuff I can’t do from lack of practice makes sense to me. Everything feels more natural. When I played Tekken, it was like my brain was trying to shut itself down and get really simple, but with VF4 I feel like I have to think much faster at all times. I happen to like that rush.
Granted, I haven’t really played enough of either of them to give an in-depth analysis of either game, but with Tekken I feel absolutely no need to play it more. VF4 is one of those games I want to get my friends into so I actually have a reason to learn it.
i hate it when people say that vf4 characters have more moves than tekken characters.ill solve this problem quick.what made more money tekken doa or vf4.king in tekken has about 147 moves.vf4 characters dont even have 60.doa and vf4 is a button mashers game.have u seen the tournaments.the people jab all day where as tekken tournaments seem to be much more indepth.i hate vf4 because the character movements are so stiff.and i hate the fact that most of the comboes in both doa and vf4 are dun like this.p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,k,or p,p,p,p,p,p,k,p,k,kforward,k thats just anoying.name a single combo in tekken that conists of so much of the same buttons.
I think it’s the Virtua Fighter players who start threads like these. They are so bored of playing VF that they got nothing better to do with their time than to start a bitch session with the Tekken players. So they ask, “which do you like better” to lure them in and then once they’re in they all rally together and start whining. The thing is, some “high tier” at evo said Virtua Fighter was better. So like a good little drone you went out and bought it. Only it sucked, but you didn’t have the balls to dare speak out against the evo community so you kept playing it even though you hate it. You thought you’d see strategy and reversals and counters but you found out it’s just another jabbing mashfest only you have to time your mashing in this game. To vent your frustrations you all make “VF vs. Tekken” threads. So if you like VF better then play it. Stop harassing Tekken players. We shall await the next action packed segment in the Mishima saga while you unlock the panda hat.
I have become a fan of Aoi though because she’s cute and she looks so awesome with the red kabuki wig.
Uuhhh…I’m sure VF made more money but are we talking about here (states) or there (japan). Here in the states Tekken is more popular but in Japan VF is hell alot more popular but whatever. Dude you are scrub, if you want to prove it that DOA is button masher pick up DOAU and play me online then we’ll see. I would say the same thing about VF but that’s no online.
Watch out, Psych majors! This guy’s gonna be the Freud of fighting games! His totally objective obvservation skills are going to ROCK YOUR FACE! You all had better back up and quit pointing out flaws in his preferred game, or he’ll just keep on totally insulting your taste in largely underappreciated video games, and there’s nothing you bitches can do about it! I mean, he went out and BOUGHT the game a whole four days ago with the apparent sole intent of finding whatever flaws he could to call his preferred game the better one. This man is obviously qualified to tell you all that you suck for liking such a clearly inferior game.
YOUR MASHER IS GOD AWFUL COMPARED TO HIS WORK OF ART AND SKILL.
I like how he doesn’t even want to have that challenge he so boldly called me out for. Bitch.
People have been saying VF was better for a while(years). Japan has always preferred VF over Tekken, shit, niggas are picking up the VF2 remake for PS2 in droves over here. VF’s ONLY drawback is that it’s not superficially fun, and it’s hardly advertised(GO SEGA!). But that’s okay.
And I’ll take the chance of saying that T5 isn’t going to hurt VF4:FT’s popularity, since a lot of players(like me) PLAY BOTH GAMES. I’m saddened to see how many people just can’t say they enjoy both games.
I’ll humor you. I am a fan of both series. I have yet to play Tekken 5 or Final Tuned. I hope to play some T5 tomorrow. I loved Tekken 3. I still love TTT. I despise Tekken 4, but I appriciate it because had T4 not sucked so bad I would have never discovered VF4. Now, thanks to Tekken 4’s failures, I have become a fan of VF4 as well.
I didn’t want to speak in this topic because some of the people like Andore are the equivalent of arguing with a brick wall, except only half as smart.
I can honestly say that had T4 not disappointed me so much, I would not have rediscovered VF4. I had both VF4 and Evo, but they’d always be secondary to beating the few bums that live in my barracks in Tekken. It’s mostly the lack of T4 comp (they get fucked up then run to Jin), as well as the overabundance of VF players out here. It’s pretty good even by Okinawan standards. We got some real beasts down here that probably don’t make it up to the nationals because we’re a 2-3 hour plane ride away from Tokyo. =/
WTF was wrong with SEGA. I guess they were only shipping VF3 out in those big projector screen cabinets, which were expensive as fuck- and thus expensive to play, to make up for the cost. I heard a lot of people really dug VF3 (mostly in japan, as is always the case), but Jesus Christ that was a bad decision. VF2 was actually a popular game- it was hurt by the fact that the home version was Saturn-only, and PSX was the more popular console. VF3 could have actually been popular, though it couldn’t have had a home port because the Dreamcast wasn’t released for like a year and a half afterwards, but the ball was dropped.
Big problem also was that it suffered from VF Syndrome- that is, people think it’s a buton-mashing game and assume Tekken or random other game is more complicated. That still happens, actually, as evidenced by this thread.
