Just the other day, my male friend was talking (on Facebook) about how he thought Elisabeth from Bioshock Infinite was a really weak character and compared her to some female related tropes. He also tagged his girlfriend in the post. Checked his wall from a few days earlier and there was another pro-feminism talk related to gaming. He was never like this until recently. I think he’s being brainwashed by his girlfriend (who is only 20, so the new gamer-that-is-also-a-girl thing kind of applies here). Halp.

Edit: I am also sure I have been called NIGGER just on xbox live more times than Matriarch has ever even been disrespected in her entire life. Not counting of course her obvious daddy poked me in the pooper issues.

They’ve been dating for a while now haha. I don’t hang out with him too much but he doesn’t bring up feminist stuff when we do. Seems to be a recent thing he’s been bringing up though.
Word, also the reason why I as a blaxican can take this abuse is because I actually enjoy the game to the point that I won’t let outside influences ruin MY experience. Now the game sucking ass( LOOKING AT YOU COD) that is another story. Also why I don’t rage over campers or spammers in SF4 or whatever. These women can’t understand that because they DON’T share that same level of passion otherwise this shit would be a non issue.

Funny thing about business (I’ve learned this from working with BrokenTier for an extended period), is that even though people tend to say “I WANT THIS. PLEASE MAKE THIS!” and the demand seems popular, the product will not sell once it’s made. In other word, all these seemingly numerous feminists that want a strong, lead female character that isn’t objectified in a game, but should a game be made… they won’t be there to buy it. Guarenteed. And then the males that don’t want to play as a female lead character (which is weird, if you ask me, since I don’t think that can detract from a game experience at all) won’t buy the game either, causing it to fail extremely hard. 
I can’t help but agree, the white knighting here at times is at the WE network level.
Feminists make SF4’s option selects look tame, they’ll always have a reason to bitch and showcase how a female character is bad. Is she tough? Just a guy with a vagina. Is she weak? WOW WOMEN CAN’T BE STRONG HUH? Is she meek and shy about sexuality? WOW, EVEN GAME CHARACTERS CAN’T BE OPEN SEXUALLY. Is she promiscuous? TYPICAL MALE SEX FANTASY, NO DEPTH, BOYS CLUB MENTALITY! Is she flat chested? TOM BOY TROPE, WOMEN CAN’T BE TOUGH WITH A CURVY FIGURE? Does she have big boobs? SEXIST OBJECTIFICATION, DEMEANING OUR RIGHTS AS WOMEN, UNREALISTIC/WRONG BODY TYPE. It’s why the Tropes vs Women movement is so ludicrous, because they’re essentially covering every possible character choice with broad, supposedly negative blankets and then crying that more women don’t get representation.

No matter who wins, we all lose because discussions like this will be apparently be too taboo and banned because it turns into a shitstorm everytime this topic is brought up. What other topics can’t we discuss. Obviously not religion and politics.
Basically everybody here is screwed. Especially the people who believe themselves to be in opposition to feminism* and at least attempt to bring an intelligent argument to bear, because that argument will be instantly undermined by some loudmouth with obvious issues against women. To quote Daniel Dennett, “There’s nothing I like less than a bad argument for a view I hold dear.” That’s the boat that a lot of people here are in.

Certain feminists seem to attack the wrong things, and things that really won’t make a positive difference to them. So…let’s stop objectifying women in porn. What would that do?
- Men who are in unhappy relationships/marriages would be more likely to cheat since they can’t get off to porn anymore.
- There would actually be more women entering pornography.
What should be attacked is why women enter the porn industry in the first place. The vast majority were sexually abused as children/young teens, so there should be focus on shutting that down.
I also think women should focus on the most important issues first. Protest female circumcision (btw male circumcision is also horrible IMO), female slavery, females not having freedom of speech or having to be completely covered up all the time, women being persecuted for coming forward about being raped/attempted rape, domestic violence, equivalent female products (such as deodorant, shaving gel, etc.) being much more expensive, lower wages for doing the same work, etc. etc. Seriously…objectification of women/big boobs/fan service in video games? A waste of time.

And let’s not forget that there is nothing wrong with pornography, per se. There is a difference between women being repressed and exploited in the porn industry and pornography full stop. Like other branches of the entertainment industry, there are elements within porn that treat its participants as second-class citizens. That can be addressed without indiscriminately bashing the entirety of porn with the same truncheon. It is, after all, one of our longest-standing mediums of entertainment.

Since games got really popular in the last 20 years, there are some people who wants to get notice.
To be honest, I think it’s the views and how much they get for complaining about the games (not all). Some of them remove most of the comments and rating system on YouTube. They just care for the views and they get paid (not all) or I might be wrong.
