The problem with arguing about this sorta shit is that it doesn’t exist in a vacuum, as gender rights are typically different per country, state and sometimes even towns. Sure, for the most part, western countries have what could be considered for all intents and purposes ‘equality’, but the same can’t be applied to everywhere else. Over here in Australia, we follow a ‘man talk, man walk’ philosophy where if the woman wants to do traditionally masculine jobs like building, cementing and other such things, then she has to do an equal amount of work both in training and in the field. That scares a lot of them off and coincidentally female tradies are something outlandish like 1/80. Is that a fault of society, men or the vocation in question? No.
I can’t make a case for myself going out and fighting for equal rights, as it isn’t prevalent enough for me to take time out of my life to bolster generally lazy or entitled people. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll let the tumblr psuedo feminists yell and yell until they run out of breath and continue on living in a society that isn’t run by a single gender. If those people wanna live in some fantasy world where it’s DA WHITE MAN telepathically preventing them from going and getting a job then that’s on them, lol. Same shit with video games, if people are honestly getting so upset by the completely optional abuse they have to deal with then they should pick a less competitive hobby or stick to single player games. That applies to women, men and any imaginary gender inbetween.

You said that a movement that has multiple schools of thought will go nowhere and accomplish nothing. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I posted a photograph of two men who were part of the same movement, but differed drastically in their schools of thought as to how to approach the problem they were addressing. Both were absolutely essential to the great strides that were made during that time period. While there is still much to be accomplished, that movement has come a long way, and–again, correct me if I’m wrong–a lot of that has to do with the fact that there is a marketplace of competing ideas, different approaches, and so on. The movement is powered by debate, rather than groupthink.
There are even more schools of thought than those represented in the photograph, but I feel it is nevertheless an effective dramatization of the fact that multiple schools of thought can not only coexist, but also be beneficial to the strength of a movement.
Now, the remarks you made were in reference to feminism, but they were not specific to feminism. Once again, correct me if I’m wrong, but you said that a movement that does not revolve around a single focused idea and one unified goal can’t accomplish anything. That statement is a matter of principle rather than of a specific case. What I posted would seem to contradict that statement of principle. The proof is in the history.
The reason people cite the Civil Rights Movement in relation to so many other movements to address discrimination and inequality, big or small, is not because they’re trying to compare the magnitude of the efforts to those of black leaders who were attempting to overcome a hundreds-of-years history of involuntary servitude and systematic oppression. It’s because, like yours, a lot of the arguments made to justify the status quo rely on the same principles that were used to justify things such as enslavement and Jim Crow laws.
And one of the tactics that people who favor the status quo are quickest to employ is to move that goalpost–to take an analogy whose intention is clear to all with a grade school level of reading comprehension and deliberately take it away from the context in which it was applied and put it in a context in which it doesn’t. This erroneously assumes that an analogy cannot be valid in any case unless it applies in all cases. This is, of course, fucking ridiculous, and the people who employ that strategy are most likely aware of that fact. But that never stops jabbering fools from using it, whether it be on the 24 hour cable news talk shows or on websites like this one. It’s a tactic that is meant to stifle the argument rather than engage it, and is employe not because it is useful, insightful, or germane, but because we exist in a culture that values winning the argument by any means necessary rather than learning something by way of the argument. I have little time for that, and nobody else should either, which is why I initially gave you the very well-deserved cold shoulder.
So, now that I’ve fleshed out the argument beyond “I’m right, you’re wrong”, what assumptions have I made that haven’t been addressed so far? By all means, let’s get started on those.

This is the problem though…this perceived misconception that somehow women are entitled and more justified to complain due to the erroneous idea of"male privilege". I would even go further in saying that it isn’t just that women are allowed to complain more then men but rather that men aren’t allowed to complain at all. Men are seen as having no real issues or problems to complain about due to the idea that all men who have ever lived or will ever live enjoy a “long-standing position of implicit privilege"that is inherent to them for simply having a Y-chromosome. Therefore whenever men do complain about issues, the typical dismissive retort is either a"what about the menz”, “male tears” or the now famous"check your privilege"…seriously just check out any feminist tumblr. Better yet, look at the reaction real life feminist groups had to the university of toronto holding a conference to discuss men’s issues…they pulled a fucking fire alarm and 1 loud mouth red head feminist was filmed cursing,yelling and singing"cry me a river"in response to 1 of the men there talking about male suicide victims. There is plenty for men to complain about beyond the "losing their power and privilege"strawman…it’s just that no one cares to hear it because that would mess with our whole"women are always helpless victims no matter what and men are always evil"cultural narrative.
Ummm…everyone who has been online for more then a day has dealt with trolling rage comments and its been a "quality"of the online world well before girl gamers like anita decided to make a profit from it. When the guys here tell girls to "suck it up"they tell them that out of experience, out of wisdom for the things they have experienced themselves. A girl who gets"kitchen"or"rape"comments is not experiencing anything differently then a guy who deals with"fag"or"death"threats (look at the salt injustice has caused online in the rage threads) so if men are able to suck it up then women can too.
In what walks of life are women not welcomed…we have millions upon millions of dollars set up via government programs that directly feed into funding the domestic,professional,academic and healthcare infrastructure of women’s lives. I can’t even cite the number of"women only"initiatives with specific aims to include and improve women’s lives in any and all things imaginable because they are literally in the dozens…by contrast I can’t recall nearly a fraction of that effort made to assist and improve men’s lives in areas in which they are unrepresented or suffer…and this is for the so called privileged group. To make things even worse the boy scouts had to recently include a female recruit while teenage boys are not even allowed to seek shelter at a woman’s shelter for abuse cause the ADULT woman there are fearful of these young boys. If anyone has a argument for “having various walks of life being closed to them” I would say with confidence it aint women.
Moreover no one is complaining that they are"trying to take away everything that’s ours"…the complaints issued against people like anita or people who think like her are they are sexist,misandric,dishonest and con artist. Gaming has been plenty inclusive to women but what gives the impression that they might not be welcomed is that gaming sites or threads like this dont bend over backwards for women and treat them like heavenly goddesses. Women as a group are used to red carpet treatment whenever they enter fields or spaces which are typically"male spaces|, but because the gaming community doesnt treat women with the reverence and respect they believe they are entitled too we are considered sexist,women hating or angry bitter man.
Its a sad commentary on society that the whole"online harassment"issue in the gaming community only suddenly became a issue the moment women started to become affected by it…even though men had been dealing with it for years well before these women took interest in games. Its kind of like how dangerous lines of work didnt start implementing more safety procedures and eliminating work hazards until more women started to enter them…says a lot about who lives we truly value as a society. Anyways this is all beside the point, the main issue is that people dont like dishonesty. I could go on more about the feminist issue but to be honest I just dont have the patience to deal with feminist apologetics the way I used to cause I know for a fact opinions never get changed. I’ll just leave things off with these 2 videos on the subject and wait till this thread eventually gets closed or falls behind to obscurity.
