lmao i love how she has her hands in her jean pocket all slut-like. very into it…
Barbie would get her gamer girl asshole played with alright.
The distinction is absolutely meaningless unless you’re a geek who gets mad when you feel that your nonexistent ownership of whatever it is you’re being a geek about is being encroached upon.
I’m not really surprised that the issue has arisen; much more so with the fact that people can get away with writing full articles deconstructing gender roles in gaming. That’s kind of like writing an essay response to a multiple choice question.
THOSE women just wanna put their vagina’s in everything male orientated.
it’s sort of like that annoying friend who doesn’t know what they are talking about ,but is constantly trying to get everyone to hear and agree with their opinion.
You say this like this is something new. Most of these “feminists” who bitch about video games anyway are stupid like that one person claiming LEGOs are sexist [seriously?]
I don’t mean to come off as a dick about it, but these threads pop up in here every once in a while like a list thread.
Indeed, feminists are also dropping a repugnant fecal brick on the secular community at present.
Feminism is finally getting its day in the sun. Most people were seemingly unaware of its actual philosophy and dogma. Feminism is shit; post modernism is nearly shit.
We all love to be on the side of the victim.

do not support plz!
Ignoring the merit of the argument itself, I have to wonder what this is supposed to accomplish. Simply pointing out the problem (with, for all I know, a respectable body of evidence to back it up) isn’t going to budge the game companies, who are under the impression that they’re only looking out for the bottom line.*
And while there is an argument to be made for raising consciousness about the issue, it can’t be done in a way that shames gamers, whether on purpose or inadvertently. People generally don’t respond well to the feeling of being criticized, and that extends to criticism of the things they like to do. Those people will just dig in and become more entrenched in their views. Gamers, many of whom very likely had a hard time relating to women in the first place, aren’t going to react well if they’re told that something they enjoy is sexist, misogynist, or whatever.
*They are looking out for the bottom line–pretty much. They’re held back by the fact that these enormous corporatized organizations take forever to adjust to new ways of doing things, which means that their ideas of what consumers will respond to are somewhat ossified.
Gotta admit, it’s becoming more and more difficult to ignore the temptation to use kickstarter to fund my evil feminist agenda.
Using evil, feminist, and agenda is incredibly redundant.
hmmm, joined srk just a year ago hah…
you got some credentials in fgc.
you here just for the ride hah.
lmao then fgc will support u,
in that GTFO vid,
as if they used xbl messages to portray sexism to females.
people call me dumb shit all the time on xbl. i don’t give a shit and get my feelings hurt.
i actually love it. why don’t we just not talk anymore on the internet…
being called a slut or fat or ugly on the internet is the least of our worries… real talk.

sagat ftw… but my feelins are hurt,…
Hack sites like Kotaku and other shit publications do themselves no favors by waving the big, red flag of modern feminism. Acting like a progressive, well intending person is all well and good until you realize that the entirety of the argument boils down to ‘feminists’ (not to be confused with women’s right activists) bitching that game developers aren’t assuming that women are strictly interested in Barbie Race and Ride or Peggle. Let’s be perfectly honest here, how often do you see games that have a legitimate basis for being objectification? Duke Nukem could sorta be considered it, but it’s lighthearted and is an obvious parody of the mindset. Not to mention DNF was hot booty butter anyway.
As for gamer girls (once again not to be confused with females that play games), who honestly gives a fuck about them? Yelling I AM A GURL DAT PLAYS GAMES DON’T HIT ON ME BOIS is like me going out in public with a big flag hanging out my ass that says ‘SOMETIMES I FUCK DUDES BUT DON’T YOU DARE CALL ME GAY OR REFERENCE THE THING THAT I POINTED OUT FOR YOU’ and then sobbing profusely when the big, bad white man dares to point it out. I’ve got plenty of female friends (including my sister) that play videogames and make absolutely no allusion to it and the only time they get harassed is when they’re playing a game with a shit community like Call of Duty. Hell, when playing DoTA2, they’ll constantly talk on mic and I can count the number of times guys have gone ''h-… heh… a-… g-g-g-girl playing videogames? w-… wow, so cool" or made ANY reference to their sex on one fucking hand.
tl;dr: Don’t make a big fucking deal out of the correlation between your cunt and hobby and it won’t cause a big deal. If the horrible patriarchal hate train flies towards you, get off the fucking tracks, mute them or find a better community that is more suited to your needs.
Gotta love kickstarter. Ask for money and people just give it to you.
Seems the latest game to get their attention is Dragon’s Crown. Hilariously, over-exaggerated art style, namely the Sorceress and Amazon leaving them extra sandy.(Thanks Kotaku for ruffling feathers…)
Following the tumblr tag of the game…its now flooded with full novel sized posts about feminist upset about the portrayal of women in media…using the 2 characters above as an example. And then you have full sized novel posts people trying to defend it but to wasted time due to thick headedness…2 posts earlier in the thread…I feel sums up this subject:
and
dead or alive beach volleyball. had to do it
Objectification only exists when the women do not like the men hitting on or lusting after them.
As someone who has been on SRK for a good while now I have to say that the community could do a little better job. I’m not saying you guys are horrible, but I do think that the boys club attitude of ‘suck it up or gtfo’ is a little narrow minded and immature.
Unfortunately, I think alot of people don’t know the difference between criticism and being insulted. A insult is just a noise that someone who hates you makes. Essentially a dog barking. Criticism is someone trying to be helpful and pointing out something about yourself that you may have been comfortable not knowing. People need to know the difference
