You absolutely can.

There is some character specificity to it yes. However if the regular straight is getting donked, I have yet to see a neutral jump in move reliably beat ex straight.

Tap is absolutely the better move, it just depends on whether or not you have it available is all. Most of the time you will have back charge, most of the time you won’t have tap.

Does anyone have anything good for what to do against Zangief? I just end up spamming standing HP and pray that I’m fighting moron. It is definitely better to knock him down with combo enders than leave standing but thats all I got.

I think he means during landing recovery or when the jumping attack no longer has active frames/during recovery.
LP/MP Dash Straight are pretty strong moves in this game actually, just make sure they’re perfectly spaced.

I have not had much experience in the match so far but the biggest thing I can think of is, eat shit. Learn to love eating shit.

But yeah stay at the range of st.hp and just make sure you anti air jumps. I don’t have much particular insight into the match right now but its gonna be a rough one.

Is there any other weird moves like Necalli’s stomp that count as projectiles?

I thought alex’s chop did but nope.

Bison’s Pyscho Inferno and Psycho Blast moves count as projectiles too. These are all of the purple blasts that comes from his hand (not just the actual fireball one) and the one he pulls up from the ground.

crMK is an okay button. It kind of works. But it’s not a great button. Know what I’m saying mang? crMK for Ken or Karin is 7 or 8 frames too. And I know Goddess Mika’s tMK is 8 frames but I can’t tell you how many times it lost to a sweep by Reeyou.

I agree dat Tyson is mid tier. He doesn’t feel terrible. But against top tier with dey gdlk pokes, mang… It’s rough for Tyson to get in on doods like that.

All I’d like is either HP to have faster startup or HK to have a slightly bigger hitbox. Either of those buffs would be fair and he could actually play footsies with top tier.

I’m thinking that maybe his ex armored move or super gets buffed a little if he jumps over them. That lack of crossup in a game like this really hurts him but if he had some sort of option to shut that shiz down then that might help him. If he jumps over you without meter/super he’s free. If he does have meter/super you have to respect Mike.

It sounds to me like you are being frame trapped. Stop letting this happen or it doesn’t really matter what character you are playing. Shotos should probably be Balrog’s best match-up. Kens cr mk is -4 and Ryu’s sweep is like -14 I think. Wait until after these to counter attack , don’t try to beat them. You will just have to practice the matches to learn to block the traps. Try counter poking with his faster crouching jabs instead.

Generally try to avoid footsies as much as possible with Balrog, he just doesn’t really have the buttons for footsie battles. He is more defend and punish.

NAH SON! I’m talking the instant I press button, WHACKED, HK, Sweep, any CC normal just stuffs his shiz. Shit’s gay.

In a Footsie-heavy game, where it’s definitely not a good idea to jump in, it’s really good that Tyson can’t really play footsies.

I don’t know why doods are content with his Rush Punches having ass priority. His gameplay style is RUSHING DOWN, not keepaway, not being defensive, not being tricky. He gameplay should be based on brute force. That’s why he modeled after Tyson, Tyson’s strategy was punching as hard as he fooking can, that’s Tyson.

That’s all. Better priority for his pokes like HP or better range on HK. Or better priority for Rush Punches. One or the other. At least give him Dicktator-levels of priority with his charge moves because how often have you seen anyone hit Dicktator out of his Scissor Kicks?

I never said keep away. I said learn to block and stop biting on frame traps. If you are getting hit with a sweep the second you attack you are being trapped, mashing buttons, or you are blind. You can be in their face and still block. Turn around punch is -1 on block so get in with that and then block your opponents counter attacks until they leave themselves open and punish for huge damage. Enough with the Tyson BS practice your fundamentals and learn to play the damn game. His best normals are his jabs standing MK and standing Hk they all leave you advantage even on block. Look at his frame data, learn your block strings, his frame traps, and how to defend. Exactly the same stuff you should be doing as any other character. It’s really not that complicated.

It’s really not a footsie heavy game, no matter what they tell you. Its a pressure and momentum heavy game and Balrog has the best momentum shifter in the game with his V Trigger. Condition yourself to block after his negative attacks and keep the pressure up after his positive attacks. I really don’t know what else to tell besides play a different character. Try Alex if you want more range and some tricks but the same bully mentality and almost as high damage. He is seriously underrated.

And I’m saying that whenever I press a button, NOT GETTING FRAME TRAPPED THE DOOD IS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BLOCKSTRING YOU DUMB MOMO, it loses to better pokes such as with top tier characters. This isn’t difficult to understand mang. Because right now it sounds like you’ve never fought a decent Chun or Karin or Nash.

Tyson’s crMK kind of works but it’s still not an amazing button. A decent button. But not an amazing one.

Don’t get in poke wars with characters that have better pokes. I mean seriously what the hell do you expect to happen? Chun and Nash have some of the best pokes in the game. Of course they are going to out poke you. Stop playing into their hands. Stop hitting buttons and wait for your opening. There is tons of useful information in this and the tech threads. If you are too dense to understand or unwilling to put time in training mode that is your own fault. For the last time, if you are constantly getting hit by attacks that are slower attacks then what you are putting out you are being frame trapped or your timing is really bad. It doesn’t have to be a block string to be a trap. Traps can be setup from pokes too. Get close use your positive buttons and wait for them to do something unsafe and punish. Quit whining and start practicing.

What if, just what if, they never do something unsafe because lets face it, some of the safe stuff in this game is pretty crazy.

If he can’t find an opening for a 3 frame jab maybe, just maybe, he should play a different game or go into training mode and learn where his openings are.
