"whats a kick" - barlog thread

Two questions -

  1. Can he be throw out of his ex rush punch like in SF4? I’m assuming yes. Probably will be a little harder in this game because of the throw ranges.
  2. Can he be crush countered during rush punches?

We can only assume so. The rush punches don’t seem to have any form of invincibility at all. A badly spaced rush punch should be SPD-able by longer range grabs like Zangiefs light SPD. Likewise a badly spaced and timed rush punch can probably be counter hit. That’s always been the case in SF4 though, so nothing new really.

Damn torpedo punch is D/U now, that gonna take a little getting used to.

is it just me or do confirms into super do as much damage as raw super? the scaling looks fucking awful.

He can be cc’ed out of rush punch. During the pro talk session combo started sweeping Miek during his pressure.

I was trying every chance I got and I couldn’t throw it, it’s much easier just to hit him out of it.

And yes, you can crush counter him while he’s doing a dash punch if you stick out a normal at the right rime (like Alex’s elbow).

Thats the case for most supers in the game actually. If it gets you the kill, or you can confirm into it early in the round, by all means go for it. The meter builds up pretty quickly and you can easily have it again by the end of the round.

Of course if you want to hold on to it to force the enemy to respect it or get a raw punish, thats also a good pressure tool to have available. But having a full bar of super held on for too long is more ex meter buildup wasted. Its a very situational decision. Overall im very happy with his CA. Possibly one of the best in the game.

It seems to have terrible scaling like Alex’s super.

Mean while Karin is killing mother fuckers left and right because her super seems immune to scaling.

It’s not the super being scaled it’s the V-trigger dash punches adding almost nothing to the damage pool, due to their gross amount of scaling it essentially evens out raw super and V-trigger into super damage. It seems a bit stupid to scale him so hard but his damage would be fucking nuts otherwise.

Okay, I’m actually interested in this character. Didn’t think that would happen.

Karin’s super is actually completely average, she just has a really, really easy time comboing into it.

Speaking of Karin, I cannot understand why she does so much damage. It makes no sense for her archetype. Easily one of my least favorite characters.

What buffs come with the EX versions of the dash punches? Also I don’t like that he does less damage than Ryu and Necalli, but I guess I’m nitpicking.

He has armor after the first few frames with ex dash punch

From what I gathered, he only has armor on the ex dash upper (d, u+k). The ex dash punch only comes out faster and has 2 hits if I’m not mistaken…

I’ve heard it has no armour from WSO and that it does have armour from Combofiend, no clue what to believe.

Dash upper has 2nd frame armour so that’s the “take the turn back” move anyway

st.hp looked neutral or at least safe on block from one game between Mike and Floe

Everyone scales literally the same, don’t know what the complaint is. At least sf5 has minimum 50% scaling so supers are always relevant unlike sf4.
