WHATAMIFIGHTINGFOOOOOOOOO!: the MvC3 Zero Thread

I consider blowing X-Factor so early choking lol. I actually think he’d be better at this game if it didn’t have X-Factor

zero would be better with no x-factor

The game would be better with no x-factor YO UUUUUH

Hey random shit I found, dunno if this is known, prolly is, but Zero has a fuzzy guard setup.

air dash j.C land j.B j.236B sets up for fuzzy guard pretty well. j.S is the easier one to do it off of since it provides longer block stun, but with less of an unbeatable hitbox. Pretty much the sentinel instant overhead, just on pretty much everyone.

(for those of you that don’t know fuzzy gaurd, it’s putting them in a standing guard animation, then using an instant jumping attack to “instant overhead” their taller hitbox, even though they’re considered crouching)

Happy hard-to-blockables!

This works very well with Sentinel assist keeping them pinned for the fuzzy guard.

Sometimes for jump ins I like j.M. The reach on that move is long, like longer than Haggar’s lariet long. I wonder if you can j.M land j.M .

You can see Zero do a dive buster launch combo in the beginning of this, solo. fucking HYPE

How do people do combos while holding down a button for the buster? Makes the way i hold my controller awkward and cant finish up my combos when I try…

Change your control scheme to include the trigger and bumper buttons (you should preferably have an extra L button. The remaining button is up to you).

yo question for zero mains.

could flocker or any zero/tron team chip out a incoming dark player with 3 bars of meter

zero’s rekkouha, level 1 x factor, rekkouha. then tron’s super (the king servebot one)? It works with zero sentinel, but I’m not exactly sure if other teams can do this

In the interest of having the UMvC3 character threads be as awesome as possible, I am posting here to offer up my current Ultimate Dormammu Thread as a base skeleton to anyone who intends to manage a character thread, or something similar, in Ultimate. It is currently stripped of information, and will remain so until about a week before release. I am not attempting to toot my own horn, but rather offer to others what took me quite a bit of work to do, so that those who would rather not spend the time on such things do not have to.

I have received a lot of compliments to-date about the structure, and a few people have requested permission to use its structure for UMvC3, so I thought I would go around and make the offer to others who might not be aware that someone out there has already done the grunt work for them (haha). Because I am posting this in all the character forums, and this is time consuming on its own, I have not taken the time to check for how developed the thread I am posting on current is. Thus, I ask that no one be offended at my suggestion if your character forum is well constituted already - I mean no intrusion upon your methodologies!

Here is a link to the thread blueprint:

You can get an example of what it looks like when filled out here:

You are of course entirely welcome to change whatever you like if you want to incorporate this structure into your own thread. I have all of my posts saved as Word documents on my computer. If you would like these documents instead of having to copy/paste from the main threads, please feel free to PM me your email address, along with the character thread they will be used for, and I will gladly send them.

Highest Regards to All,
Karst

I would love to write this thread

I’m getting the UMvC3 strategy guide on the 9th, I’ll be able to write all the important stuff like frame data down.

that won’t work. I know because I tried this strat with every character in the game after seeing how dominant Phoenix was at Revelations. For level 1 xfactor, the supers that would work with that strategy off the top of my head

Fatal Claw
Inferno
Ice Storm
Plasma Storm
Shinku Hadoken
Upwards Arrow Legion

Inferno and Plasma storm are guaranteed. Ice Storm, Fatal Claw, and Shinku Hadoken kill her most of the time. Ice Storm and Fatal Claw are also heavily dependent on timing of when you DHC, but for the most part will get you most of her life. Arrow Legion will usually leave her with a pixel or so but you also end up at +frames to do something else after before she touches the ground. Dormamu’s Chaotic Flame works on occasion but not nearly consistently enough for me to use it over these other options.

I know for a fact zero and sentinel have worked before in the lab, online (lol), and most important, tournament. It does well over 400k like around 440k, with block on, and advancing guard.

I have been trying with tron for a hour, and it might be just me, but I can’t get that stupid lego to hit phoenix as much as I want to, it doesn’t seem to work sadly.

zero and dorm are pretty successful though. I’m going to test other characters for zero that seem to work best with chipping phoenix like doom or other great assists for him

I’m going to make a thread for anti phoenix strats after the snap. such as mixups, and going for chip for mvc3, so when umvc3 comes out. we will be prepare.

I also think it’s EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to note that phoenix will only have 350k in the next game. However, zero may not as much as a boost for level one x-factor so we will just have to wait to see what can kill phoenix, :(. I’m not sure about you guys, but x-factor has only been decreased 15% for phoenix from her level three. Dark Phoenix will still be a threat, meaning players can still have death mixup’s for incoming characters. I bet you guys knew this but dark phoenix without x-factor is still freaking scary.

Phoenix will also have air x-factor in the next game, and while forcing her to turn on X-factor early might be a good idea, it’s not going to be the guaranteed kill that you’d get from a chip setup now.

Not to mention that xfactor seems to last differently for charecters, if you look on maxamillions videos he shows a vid of Doom and akuma’s xfactors.

I will gladly trade my x-factor/3three bars of meter against a phoenix team with no x-factor any day of the week.

I don’t think you can x-factor zero’s super either, even on the ground without getting hit…hmmm. TO THE LAB

I messed around with this strategy earlier on in MvC3 when ToD started becoming the norm - actually was toying around with the same team (Zero/Tron/Phoenix), but I didn’t like Tron at all and Akuma’s health was too much of a liability so I dropped it. Glad somebody was able to make it work.

looking at ultimate, I’m hoping zero can established at least a 600-700k bread and butter, even with the new hit stun system they have.

on the brightside though, will zero be able to survive combos??? ehh, just cab’t wait for ultimate

Zero is dumb and gay
