WHATAMIFIGHTINGFOOOOOOOOO!: the MvC3 Zero Thread

EternalFlocker #59 on xbox live leaderboards that is probably him… i was bored so i searched top players on leaderboards.

Guys I need to catch-up a bit, have some questions real quick:

  • Is Dante getting a health nerf?
  • Can Dante combo of an air grab with Zero’s Ryuenjin?
  • From the new characters, best partner is most probably Strange?

Strange, maybe Vergil for possible combo possibilities and safe/useful DHCs.

Iron Fist and Nova may have decent DHCs but I can’t seem them being Dante like partners with Zero. I can’t see any of the new cast being Dantes for Zero, and likely Dante will remain his best partner.

-Don’t think so
-Only at certain heights/positions/with air X-Factor.
-Probably Strange with Bolts of Balthakk. Vergil with Running Slash might work well too (could be unsafe on block.)

Thanks guys like always. Toast, you know Shippuga assist allows for combos from air grab in the corner. I don’t know if I should change Ryuenjin from it even do I find Ryuenjin way more useful for mixups and more. I still think there’s a way to combo with it, I’ll see what I kind find.

Bolts of Balthakk is the double beams right? That seems very very useful, but can it surpass Doom? Really don’t think so seeing how Doom is going to be so good. Really looks like Dante and Doom will still be the best partners IMO of the vanilla cast. We’ll see how the rest turn out to be.

I like Hawkeye’s vertical shot assist working well for Zero.

AFAIK Dante has the same health.

Bolts are really high and can be ducked under easily unfortunately. The Eye may be a better assist honestly.

Bolts of Ballsack also have VERY long startup time. More often than not Strange was getting hit out of it fairly easily. I reckon Hawkeyes arrows will work well with Zero. I’m also still waiting to see Frank and Raccoon.

Okay lemme talk about this.

Kef, uppercut assist won’t work for the air throw combo. Shippuga is the assist made for generic dante combo extentions. Hadangeki gives him a projectile (which I am now using, btw.) And uppercut gives Dante a specialized combo and a dead angle. Pick one.

I think Bolt’s can surpass Doom’s easy. Doctor Strange himself can surpass him. And Dante and Zero are the best partners in FoTW >:||||

Maverick. Bolts may hit high, but that’s almost the point. It will still hit anyone trying to do an attack, and if they’re ducking that means they’re not attacking. Because they shoot higher, bolts will blow up any character that spends time at normal jump height (like I dunno, EVERY RUSHDOWN CHARACTER) Eye assist will almost only be good for combos since it can not be bounced forward. It will likely complete the Steb combo, possibly even an extended version, but we’ll see.

Zero, Bolts have no more startup than any other beam assist. In fact, it’s probably faster because the beam is full screen instantly. It’s not ‘very’ long at all. Strange will only get hit if you call him too close, which goes for just about any projectile assist.

Don’t worry, I’ll figure something out with Strange/Zero. There’s something there I know. It’s just that I think there’s going to be more with Strange/Dante. And I really think Strange needs an assist like Arthur.

You’re just gonna have a trust me.

Good points. I’ll also being working with Dr. Strange and Zero. Hopefully we’ll achieve something great with them. I was unaware that Eye behaved differently. I thought it’d be a cool lockdown if it moved. Bolt will be my assist unless Eye has some unforeseen uses/properties.

Oh btw. I don’t post in the Zero threads too often! Nice to meet all you guys, I’ve lurked around before and read a lot of you guys stuff. Good shit. I play Zero at a pretty good level. My combo-enders aren’t too crisp but my neutral game and BnB seem to be pretty up to standards.

If you can play Lambda you got neutral game.

Haha. I probably suck so hard with her now but she definitely was an asset to my tool-set.

flocker gameplay, why would anyone snap in zero, rofl. I know for a fact, nobody likes xfactore level three zero.

Flocker didn’t do anything impressive, just recieve two happy birthdays, but still, yay zero, I like his play against combofirnd much more

Flocker’s strength was his patience and ability to access risk I think. That dude NEVER took any risks and always made the right decision. Gameplay wise he didn’t do anything too impressive, just jump back and call Tron, buster if they try to get through, and occasionally press some buttons into assist > command dash cross up, but anyone could do that. I really think it’s his defense and willingness to never ever ever ever take any risks that got him the win. I was watching his matches and there were so many parts where I would have wanted to press buttons, but he was content to just block or stay at neutral. I really respect that.

Bolts of Ballsack I heard were not duckable for the second laser. First one will whiff on crouches though. I’d expect all of his assists to be good. Eye looks slow but provides a lot of block stun, tracking orbs provides universal usefulness, and bolts will help manage assists and getting in from full screen. I’d say the orbs/disks whatever they are will probably be the most useful.

Also DHC from Rekkoha to READ A BOOK will be pretty nice, looks like those two will be interchangeable.

Nova looks pretty good… what were his assists? Aegis, Hidden Missile, and the OTG punch?

If I played strange I’d use him second and do SOugenmou > Book for full screen punish at some point, then run teleport mixups with double hadangeki. Seems like it could be good.

Also what are Vergil’s assists?

You can be safe and never press buttons when you have Phoenix in the back waiting to go wild.

Vergil has his Beserker Slash-esque move, Judgement Cut, and some upper cut.

Rog is incredible at this game but chokes SO hard consistently :frowning:

None of those sound particularly good lol. Judgement cut is probably like Dark Hole I imagine?

I could only assume. Vergil isn’t going to be a great partner for Zero IMO. He’ll just be incredibly solid due to safe DHCs, maybe some blockstring and chip potential, and maybe some basic combo/reset potential post-Rekkoha like Dante. I just doubt he’ll be able to do a lot.

PR Rog is too reckless. It’s just that often his recklessness will win him a match, but it’s not worth betting on.

And by reckless I mean wasting X-Factor.
