Nobody should have been snapping in Zero at all. Zero is too hard to kill if you don’t kill him when you hit him. It doesn’t matter if his team only has 1 and a half meters or 5 meters…if you hit him get his cheap ass off the screen. Fuck the snap.
I’ve been experimenting with a few Zero/Phoneix teams. My favorite is Zero/Phoenix/Arthur, basically have two comeback characters. I also tried Zero/Phoenix/Sentinel to good effect. Haven’t yet tried Zero/Dante/Phoneix though. I usually save Dante for my Dante/Phoenix/Haggar team.
Also I have good reason to have Phoenix second, don’t worry.
Zero/Akuma is good and can make comebacks.
Team order in case she dies I guess? It’s kinda bad to have Haggar/XX instead of XX/Haggar

My main question is phoenix going to be as much as a problem in umvc3? if so, it doesn’t matter how good phoenix wright/strider are, your not getting around her bullshit, ever. if this is true, then my main team is zero/good assist for zero/phoenix in the next game. I couldn’t care less for phoenix, but if people forget zero only has 800k, then hell yeah, more chances for zero to live
She’ll still be good in Ultimate but she’s going to be very vulnerable to snap mix ups now. Only one action in the air means if you get your Phoenix snapped in you better block like a god or you may lose Phoenix. You’ll want to get the first hit and get the ball rolling with meter early. Make sure you mash on forward tag if you get launched so you don’t lose meter etc.
From fighting Flocker at Evo a bit and seeing how that team works a bit, I’d say your best bet is to xfactor a zero attack and kill Zero then and there. That should give him minimum meters while removing the key component of what makes that team good. Then run entry mixups on tron to go for a snap setup, if that fails just turtle till you get a hit on tron for the snap.
Also for some reason, Haggar does not work against that team at all. I made the mistake of trying to run Zero / Dante / Haggar to overpower Tron but it ended up just setting me back.
Good good shit to him though, I was really happy to see him take the tournament… I’m glad we Zero players didn’t start winning until the end of MVC3’s life… now they know what’s coming :badboy:
Oh and whoever asked, Zero / Dante / Phoenix works really well. I don’t support playing phoenix so I don’t run that team but that’s what I use when I just want to dick around with Phoenix and it works great. You control a little more space with Jam session so you can literally put a wall in front of your character that they can’t get past. Jam session is awesome for defensive play as well as mixups on entry. Even if they punish dante you just have buster to save his ass.
Zero players have already been winning locals for a while. Shit is nothing new. It’s just a major now instead of a local. If it was Felicia…then yeah it’d be some really off the wall shit. Guy has been obvious tippy top tier for a while.

I’m going to add phoenix to my zero/dante or zero/vergil team.
People in my region HATE PHOENIX (who doesn’t) so why not just have her on, so your point character gets snapped and doesn’t die.
x-factor is still broken, so…how is dark phoenix nerfed??? I guess we will just wait and see.

(yeah I don’t know how to spell his special moves, but I hope you guys get the general picture)
Look up archives of Evo top 64. He was on the stream quite a bit from what I recall. (And Season’s Beatings footage obviously).
Still, she can X-Factor in the air now, so no more chip out scenarios…
Also, my counter against mash foward tag- air throw resets. too bad its just damage and theres no other way to steal meter besides morrigan

I like his zero, very patient and blocks a lot more then other players, smart
Chip out is not being used much at high level play anymore. It’s more about forcing her to block something then teleport around or generally just force a counter hit/air throw game out of her until she gets hit. Salty balls saved her from the snaps but not anymore in a month.
Yeah people will have to come up with tricks to deal with Phoenix mashing on forward tag so we’ll see.
Still, its the fact that now its not even an option. High level players WOULD try it, too, if they had enough meter and X-Factor.
I’ve seen uncounterable TAC set ups with Zero and Hsien-Ko, maybe those could be implemented? (if they are still in the game)
So many more things are going to be an option with Phoenix’s air nerfs that I don’t really see the issue with it.
Uncounterable TAC mix ups might get patched out but if they still work then that’s something.
There was a guy at ARK IV playing Zero/Mags/Phoenix. He did decent if I recall. That is a REALLY scary team because if Phoenix dies then you still have DHC glitch with Magneto coming in.
