Does CV charge a one time fee, or do you have to pay monthly?
its alot of work, the makers chop up hours upon hours of a teams footage and put alot of hard work and creativity into it, but then again that why they get paid to do it. if you do a proffesional job ppl will pay profession prices. the system works csflicks has been up for about 5 years now…

But in all seriousness, just as I dont just pay a flat fee for servers and then just have them “forever”, I can’t do that with the site. I used to just have it pay $5/whatever you wanted to donate per month to get the PLUS membership however a few members wanted me to make extended plans so they could just pay $14 for 3 months or something and not have to keep paying each month.
But I’m glad for every hater, there are 10 or more supporters that appreciate what I as well as the staff are doing.
I’m going to be looking into expanding the diversity of games offered on the site. Expect more SNK games, more Guilty Gear combo videos, and tekken combo/match videos sometime in the near future :karate:
I’d like to stress that CV isn’t a small site it once was when it started out. It’s actually gotten quite HUGE with over 30,000 members. Thousands of people visit the site daily and not just to look at the pictures on the main page. Tons of downloading is always going on. Bandwidth on CV is insane - especially since reopening the site. It’s used up ten terabytes so far this month. That’s 10,000 gigs worth of videos that have been downloaded. :wow: Pretty insane. :wow:
And right now 99% of the site is open to the public so I don’t know why anyone would have any complains about getting anything now.
The only stuff that’s currently available for donators are HQ releases. Basically if a video is 250 MB+ it’s in there for those that REALLY do want that extra step in quality. Jchensor’s 1.5 gig ode to the 2 hit combo is also in there now but I wouldn’t even imagine hosting a 1.5 gb file for the public at this point hah. I’m working on adding some more perks for PLUS members such as anime, because they deserve it for their support. But really, you need to thank them too for helping keep the site alive - they are helping to pay for your free downloading. 
I know free stuff is always cool. I can guarantee that the new stuff will ALWAYS be available for the public because that’s just too bogus to have to charge to get access to new content. If you read the news on CV a while ago when I reopened the site to all, I was just doing it as a temporary thing and now I’m reluctant to close it back down. But depending on my financial situation/ the amount of support CV receives for a month this could chnage 
For those that can’t pay to download hundreds of gigs from the archives, I’d like to stress that CV is not the only place to get media, there’s always GFB hub or #gamecombos, and you can always try your luck joining #combovideos on efnet and asking an op for a video.
But perhaps the reason why people are complaining is because they’ve been with the site since it was small and probably don’t realize it’s growth (or are spoiled). I doubt anyone is complaining about Gamespot’s paid membership package called Gamespot complete or whatever it’s called.
Again thanks to those that support the site as well as appreciate all the hard work that goes into it.

Since 99% of CV content is accessable by regular members(people who dont donate) than dont bitch about us charging $5.00, thats just sad.

I don’t think it’s wrong to pay for the vids, personally. Bandwidth isn’t cheap; if the vid isn’t worth the money to you, don’t pay it but don’t complain about not getting to see it, either.
However, to play devil’s advocate, what if someone submits a vid with the intent of free distribution, like someone submitting an FAQ to shudder GameFAQs? If CV snaps it up, do they have the right to host it in their pay section? If GameFAQs started charging to see FAQs, are the people submitting said FAQs entitled to a cut?
It doesn’t happen like that. BlazeD talks to the people he gets his vids from. They know what is put up for PLUS Members and what not. So the video makers have a say in the begining.
gamefaqs does make money off of the faqs, not like millions, but i believe there was an article about the guy who created it starting it out small (which i remember actually) then leaving his job and such. But at the same time he does provide a service, and the fact that FAQs are a million times smaller than videos, and that a ton more people go there, he can prolly just do it with ads/sponsors instead of charging.
well since you dont read to well there … the vids ARE FREE … you PAY for the BANDWIDTH … on the side note of cheese ya they give away cheese cause they can afford to cause they make a profit … or the company that makes the cheese is doing a promo and gives it to the company to give out …

But ComboVideos.com isn’t charging you for videos. You don’t have to buy a download, you’re just donating for bandwidth and getting a few extras if you do.
Like what was previously said, most of the videos are availible to all members, its just that some videos are limited relases due to size. I would donate but i’m unemployed and have no plastic currency, so I lose out in all areas. Its till appreciated what the site does though.
