What would you like to see changed in UMvC3?

Bizarre. I don’t remember who it was that said it, but they sounded very affected by this ‘nerf’, such that they said Ammy Cold Star assist no longer fit his team and he’d be getting a new character. Interesting in any case. Thank you for the info!

Marlinpie said that he’s dropping Ammy because his combos no longer work with Ammy… not a surprise considering how assists now are affected by hit stun deterioration and something like Ammy’s cold star that hits so many times is going to be affected badly by that.

Cold star is extremely reluctant to uncombo as-is, though. I was rather extensive in testing to make sure I could still do my own cold star stuff, and yeah it seems like it’d work, unless they also nerfed cold star’s base hitstun.

No matter what it’ll be hard to separate me from my precious wolf.

MarlinPie can do what he wants. If he’s convinced his combos will fail and he’s tested it himself, so be it. It’ll definitely be interesting to see him play a new character(s) instead of watching him run Ammy head on into Sentinel and Haggar.

A shame. Well, our sun goddess has lost a devotee but gained a new one who is not afraid of how Capcom has changed her. The loss of air dash blocking may sting, but the glaive and whip are a bit better for fighting at those ranges than one might initially believe. I am looking forward to finally getting good with Ammy in UMvC3!

Rosary is nice for very particular situations and any character that can’t do anything to get in. For instance if your opponent pushblocks a glaive :h:(any, but preferably st. since it will push you away a bit just in case they don’t pushblock) you can follow-up with a stance change to rosary and do cr.H and it will lock them down and they can’t jump away or they’ll get hit.

With hulk and sentinel gettting 3 hits super armor it’s going to be more important in those matchups than ever.

Stance changing into/out of rosary j.:h: will be fun as well.

That’s an action you can take but it’s not a meaningful one. I don’t really know how you can say it will lock them down since… They can just pushblock the cr.H and it’s not like you can cancel that to cold star or anything to randomly chip away at them since you can’t cancel rosary :h:s to anything.

Which is also why you can’t stance change out of rosary j.:h:.

You can special cancel the rosary j.h can’t you? I was refering to ultimate if you didn’t catch that.

As for the pushblock setup. Opponent exibiting predictable behavior of pushblocking and jumping back? Tahhh dahhhh. Meaning. So they can’t actually pushblock the cr.H because they’re going to try to jump. Tag assists onto the setup to get damage out of it. I use weasel shot right before the stance change for my timing. Sure it’s not the most amazing mix-up in the world. Because that’s not what it’s supposed to be. It’s a punish.

Well, shows what I know~ I have been in rosary perhaps 1 of the past thousand games I’ve played.

The only way I know is because I saw someone do it on some stream…or a combo vid…or something.

I don’t go in much when i’m in rosary unless it’s to get on the other side or air lame anyway.

The relevant character:

Amaterasu

  • Decreased hit stun time on all normal attacks (L,M,H).
  • Decreased hit box size of M, cr.M.
  • Increased active frames of cr.M.
  • Stance change is possible in mid-air.
  • Increased active frames of charged Thunder Edge.
  • Sword portion of Glaive Chop causes knockdown.
  • Decreased untechable time of Assist β (Cold Star).
  • Additional hits can be added to Divine Instruments through rapid button presses.

Take it how you will. I see a bunch of nerfs but nothing that kills her game. I also see MarlinPie’s problem in full effect. There does seem to be some fun stuff to play with. I dunno about you but I’m ready to play this game.

to be honest, most of her nerfs don’t really mess up anything. She’ll still be a reset queen and her combos are still there now with air wep change.

This is coming from someone who has only recently started to learn Amaterasu… I’m slightly annoyed but not scared off. I really didn’t see much about her that needed to be nerfed to begin with, aside from perhaps Disc-form H attacks being kind of braindead against typical players. I would have seen that made a little less stupid, made glaive and beads/whip form a little better, and called it a day.

Oh well. What they’ve outlined here does seem as you say; should still be playable and I plan to stick with her for now.

I wish it was more specific as to what kinda knock down Glaive Chop creates. Is it a hard or soft knockdown. Big difference.

The only change that got me upset at first was the decreased Hitstun on H since it made weapon switching mid combo on the ground possible. But you can just do it in the air now so no biggy.

SO they decreased the hitbox of M but increased the active frames. Does this mean it stays out for a longer period of time ??

Also no Mashing of Okami Shuffle O__o ?? REALLY?

I just want to know if j.:l: to :df:+:h: in glaive still works for instant overhead combo.

they said it doesn’t work anymore. But instant j.L>J.H should still work in reflector.

Is reflector == rosary/beads? I forget. I guess I have to start using bead stance now to get that insta overhead setup.

Reflector is the Solar Flare/disc stance. Also the stance Ammy starts the match in. So-named because her projectile reflecting move is in this stance.
