What would you like to see changed in UMvC3?

So named because in Okami, the three classes of weapons are called reflector, glaive, and rosary. If we wanted to be clear, we could refer to them as Divine Retribution, Tsumugari, and Devout Beads, but when using certain moves they transform into Solar Flare, Thunder Edge, and Tundra Beads, so using the basic classes seems apt.

Or that works too, sure. But I’ve seen lots of people who have never played Okami call Amaterasu’s default/starting weapon in MvC3 “Reflector.” So it’s intuitive even outside of having played the game.

Considering that “sword” and “beads” or “whip” have stuck to Glaive and Rosary because people call it as they see it, I’m suprised that Reflector prevailed over “disc”.

Doesn’t mean anything at this point, but I’d have liked if you could link Cold Star special from Rosary’s “H-cr.H” if anything. Or her Heavy ground Rosary moves in general.

I would like to see something new with the whip has well. In the whip stance, I think most people would agree that her strongest asset is cold star. Application of the whip is difficult, and jumping H in whip seems actually worse than jumping H in glaive, except that you can’t cancel jumping H in glaive.

Air stance changes will make it easier to get a normal damage output from whip at least.

I actually didn’t think about that but you’re right. At the very least any little mounted offense can at least be converted to more damage. I’ll look into it more come release.

Yeah I was thinking (rosary) cr.h+weasel shot>dash M, S, j.M xx qcf H, (glaive) charge H, qcf charge L. Maybe something more fancy down the line?

That actually works. I think there will be better options though. I’m working on it lol.

So, what’s the deal with the “new” cold star assist? what’s the difference with the regular vanilla one?

I read somewhere that marlin pie said it doesn’t work anymore. Is it because of the assist change or the hitstun deterioration issue?

Hitstun deterioration. To use cold star in combos it has to be reasonably early in said combo now, instead of just getting free stuff with it whenever… And it’ll tend to reduce whatever was done after it to minimum damage in a hurry. It’s not useless but it’s definitely not as good. Still, I think it works for my Spencer just fine.
