Arcade SF2, oddly enough I played SF2 before SF1 at the arcade, I was lucky enough to play it on both cabs IIRC (SF1 cab with standard SF layout and the one with the two big buttons LOL).
Street Smart at a 7-11 by Tully and Quimby Rd. in San Jose…then at a bowling alley by Eastridge was the first time I saw SF2 and no one could beat Bison. Then I just played SF2 at Pizza Huts, Roundtables, bowling alleys, 7-11s, etc. Should this be in the old school SF scene thread?
Niiiiice!!! Street Smart was my second fighter I ever played…I mistook it for Street Fighter 1 during my childhood because I was stupid.
First fighter? Street Fighter 2 at the yearly fair. I picked Zangief because I thought wrestlers were cool.
Street Fighter Alpha. Seen it in a local EB store and I thought about my bro playing it awhile back. Thank goodness:lovin:
Street Fighter 2 for the Arcade
short history…
Street Fighter 2 was the first fighting game I ever played. I didn’t really care about it back then though… how unappreciative of me.
Eventually I got Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters for SNES and I was hooked on the genre… I went in bought Super Street Fighter 2 a while ago and applied what I learned (move motions) to it… and I learned how to play, but I stopped after a while.
After that I kinda played fighters on and off until Marvel vs. Capcom came out… I played it religiously for like a year before I went to on/off playing… damned RPGs owned my life back then.
I just recently (as of early 2006) started getting into the competitive scene, and learned CVS2… hooray.
Now I play pretty much all fighting games like no tomorrow… heh.
Looks like SF2 took the majority of us,
Fighting Street on the Turbo Graphics 16
Street Fighter 2 CE at the New Hope Circus Circus
sf2 on the snes in 1992.
all i remember was dhalsim was a cheap mofo and me and my cousin raced to get to him first on the select screen
The classic double Dragon arcade would have to be my first. Unless you mean fighting, as in 1-on-1, then i’d have to say Street Fighter II WW.
I cannot remember EVER playing a 1-on-1 fighter until that one. I remember thinking how blanka rocked, i thought his electricity move was so damned cool back then! :lovin:
Street Fighter 1 at the movie theater arcade. It was awful but in a fun kind of way. When 2 came out I was blown away completely.
Street Fighter II: WW on Snes. Had endless fun with friends who don’t even play fighting games anymore.
Probably MK1 for the SNES, then SF2 in the arcade (which I still don’t really love)
SF2 almost “took my virginity” lol. a couple of friends at school were talking all this fancy stuff about blanka, guile, ryu, mbison (you wouldn’t believe how they pronounced those names lol) and so I said "take me there!!!"
when we get there, they obviously run inmediately to sf, but since I’ve never been in an arcade like that, I took a look at every game. by the side of 1 of the sf machines was something that blow me away right on. I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing. “a bruce lee guy? that electricity guy from big trouble in lil china? a ninja blasting ice? OMG another ninja takin’ a spear out of his hand?? omfg I gotta play this”.
so I played, kept playing for years. part 2 just got me even worse. deeper. ahh the memories!!!
I’m pretty sure you guys know what I’m talking about huh? lol
I remember the first time I saw SF II, This guy was beating everyone with Dhalsim and talking shit. All he did was hit the roundhouse button.:annoy: But when turbo came out and I was familiar with the play, I saw him again and sure enough, he was playing with Dhalsim. I beat the hell out of him with Ryu. And the sad part is that I wasn’t good at all.
:looney:
same here, i remember staying up until LAAAATE at night trying to beat m.bison, that cheating bitch
i was so tired for school the next day
Mortal Kombat… I’m sorry
Mortal Kombat I on SNES.
neo geo machine in krogers the 1st thing i played was samurai showdown or samsho2 not sure wich one it was i was like 6 didn’t know what the hell i was doing. I also liked spinmaster ,non fighting game and that same place my second was street fighter 2 road warrior i belive .same age :wgrin:
