Street Fighter 2 CE on SNES.
Absolute first was IK+ on Atari (I was like 6 yrs old I think)
First modern fighter was obviously WW in arcade, 3kms from home (I think I lost years of the so-very-little money I had in that single machine…)
And if we’re talking beyond 1on1, there might have been something before IK+ for me but I can’t say for sure, it’s way too far in the past for my brains to remember
Same for me. I loved Double Dragon back in the day. Golden Axe too!
Karate Champ for commador 64 and Fighting Masters on genesis. My first real fighting game was SF2 WW.
SF2WW
Beat’em up’s count as fighting games?
Some version of Darkstalkers I believe (had Felicia in it) at some Carls Jr. here in town. Played 2 rounds, and then it was time to go.
World heros at a liquer store near me when I was a kid.
bout what? 8 years old?
Then they got a sf2 machine and nobody wanted to play that game anymore ahahah.
ST. My dad used to play at home.
SF2:WW when I was about 4 or 5, something like that.
Can’t remember the arcade because we only went there once. All I know is it was somewhere in FL, prolly in the miami area.
As a side note, I’ve always distinguished one genre from the other with the terms, “fighting” and the admittedly silly, “beat-em-up.” Well, not always. I used to make it a point to call 1-on-1 tournament fighting games. Ah, kids.
Unofficially, I guess I would have to say 2-player mode in Karate Kid. I used to pick “the other guy” because he could run a lap in the stage, while Danielle was subject to the barriers on either side of the screen. My dad used to complain about my crouching kicks, saying they were cheap.
Officially, I think I played SF2 for the first time in Toys R Us. I chose Honda, accidentlaly, I think. I housed until I got up to either Vega or Balrog, then I lost. I remember seeing SF2 in the arcade a while before that. I was looking for X-Men, but I remember thinking the game had impressive graphics, but probably held little interest for me otherwise.
I think the first fighting game I ever played in the arcades was Fatal Fury. I’m happy to report that, as I’m a bigger SNK fan.
SF2 at a comicshop… I remember getting rolled by Sagat…
Then when my dad won at a Casino… he bought me SF2 for SNES and my sister a bike
sf2 for snes
Original Street Fighter at the local 7/11… ah the good old days.
Actually , My first couple had to be… Street Fighter 2 and Killer Instinct. Man did I love those games.
sf2ww in vegas when i was 7 i believe but there was an mk machince next to it. it was at the primadonna on the border of cali and nevada. They use to have two big as hell machines on the arcade floor with big ass screens too. i still remember hear the elephant sounds down the hall to our room. Can anyone tell me if these machines are still there, not the sf2 or mk machines but the big cabinets. would love to know.
Street Fighter 2 in the arcade a little mainly on SNES though, then probably MK. I was in sixth grade probably like 11 or 12.
AOF when I was about 5 and at my grandma’s.
