What was your first fighting game and where?

My first fighting game ever was Street Fighter 2. Back when i was living in California, when i was 3 or so, my parents parked me in front of a SF2 cabinet at a pizza place, didn’t put any money in and let me think i was playing… :looney:

mines was streetfighter 2 and i was with my uncle

SF2:HF on SNES. I remember being scared to play the computer so I would always go to 2P mode and leave the second controller untouched. I had Hadoukens down but couldn’t figure out charge moves for the life of me. (still can’t :wgrin: )

MKI on SNES at a friend’s house.

SC2 on an xbox. Talk about newb. Haha. I went back and found the love that was SF2 though. It’s now my best game.

Yie Ar Kung Fu on NES when I was around 3 years old. I don’t think I ever “beat” the game, if that’s even possible since the stages seem to just keep going. Too bad it was single-player only, or this game would’ve been a real pioneer.

MKII and SSF2. I got both of the games on SNES for making good grades.

No idea. I’ve been beating people up 1 on 1 since making stick figure comic battles. I’m talking single digits and I’m 23.

semi-ditto!! that game or a boxing game in an ATARI, also has a vs mode!! black vs white boxer!!..=)

SF2 at Chuck ‘e’ Cheese’s. I picked Guile and my friend picked Sim, and I did a lot of j. shorts. This was because I had the GamePro guide with the pictures of all the characters’ normals, and I though his j. short looked really cool.

karate champ at some arcade

well from what i can remember that three player kung fu game on atari so i was like 4 or 5 maybe

street fighter 2 came out in arcades when i was 8 so i was pretty familiar with fighting games before sf2

SF1 with the big rubber buttons. I was really young at the time so my friend would get up on the machine and drop his knee on the buttons to get HP and HKs out as I worked the controller.

We also used to play Karate Champ a lot at the same arcade and I used to have every combination of joystick commands down.

Didn’t start playing seriously until SF2 WW. A lot of hours spent getting QCF and DPs down. My first pick was Blanka though and I whored out standing and jumping HK in my attempts to win.

Wow this thread makes me feel old.

Mine’s was Street Fighter. It was back in 1987 I was ten and that was the first fighting game I ever played. It was at this arcade called Outer Limits that was in Marlow Heights, Maryland. But the arcade closed down back in 2001 and was a hotbed for comp, especially in SNK games.

karate champ at the local bowling alley when i was 6 when the game came out in 84 i believe

It was either Yie Ar Kung Fu or Karate Champ, both on arcade. That was mad long ago but I think Yie Ar Kung Fu came out first.

I used to play SFIIT on the SNES but I was only young, it all started with Street Fighter Alpha 2, in my bed room, with a lump of dope and a lot of spare time on my hands. Plus A2 on the Saturn was the only game I had, got me well adicted.

SFIIturbo for SNES. always picked Sim cuz of yoga noogies. I was also scared to fight people like Balrog(boxer) and Vega(claw). Balrog sucked cuz he’d do his charge move twice in a row on me and I was like WTF THATS IMPOSSIBLE. Vega sucked cuz he’d do that scary ass climb all the way up the fence thing. Plus his face if you beat him looked freaky as hell.

Taito Wrestling 1986 in a local Arcade that opened up within walking distance from my house (now is a martial arts center). I remember watching my sister’s friend do a motion command where the wrestler ran to the ropes, dived over them and onto the floor on top of the opponent. Ever since then I have been addicted to any motion command games. Street Fighter 2 though was the first game I could not live w/o as a kid. But that’s another story.

karate champ came out in 84 yie ar kung fu came out in 85
