fun fact: I’m blind in one eye and though most people I meet in real life never find out, occasionally it comes up and people ask me silly or dumb questions about it. somehow I manage to make it through the conversation without having an emotional episode because someone asked about my “disability.”
if someone asks “do you still have a dick” or “what’s the world look like when you only have one good eye” and you get offended that’s your problem not theirs. they just have no experience/knowledge of your situation and want to know more. treat it as an opportunity to teach them something or you can make fun of them or whatever is your bag. imagine if instead of stewing on it and then writing a blog post, they had instead replied “I dunno man, wanna check for yourself?”
basically don’t be the person who everyone has to watch themselves around. “can’t speak my mind, might offend him/her.” we all know people like that whether they’re from the religious right or the crazy fringe left. either way they’re not fun to be around.

I think some people here are taking this way too far.
I don’t agree with Ian’s decision to post the twitlonger on SRK’s front page but let’s keep our heads cool and look at the situation in a fair manner:
- This is not clickbait for profit. It’s more likely that he did it because he thought it was the right thing to do. From what I do know of him, he does not like being a part of this internet drama, especially not a target for slander. Suggesting that he’ll put himself through this unpleasant situation just to get clicks is simply not true.
- SRK has a lot of politics in the upper echelons. The editor’s opinion is not the end all be all of what goes on the first page, and I’m saying this as someone who was negatively affected by this in the past. Don’t always try to find an easy target to blame for shit you don’t like.
- You don’t even know who Ian is since you never bother to visit the front page, and then you criticize him over a single decision you don’t agree with? If you have not been following the front page for a long time how can you judge his performance? Have you tried to compare his work to the years when every fart Maximilian let loose became a front page story? Have you tried to compare his work to Eventhubs?
When the front page was full of Max I was right there in the comments complaining. But when things started to improve I stopped complaining. (Not to mention that I started making the vids I wanted to see myself.)
You can’t send negative feedback 100% of the time, unless you enjoy being a bitter asshole. When you see something positive you also need to reward that with positive feedback, or else your opinion won’t matter and you won’t be able to affect changes.
It’s really easy to go on a mindless mob crusade and let emotion replace critical thinking, but it won’t achieve your goals. Keep it cool and act smart.
