I main Noel and in other games at least secondary Sakura, Yuri Sakazaki, Ibuki, King, and used to play Xianghua and Kula so I don’t really think that applies. Hell, even in TTT2 I use Jaycee and sometimes will play Miharu and Leo.
huh? valk’s regen is better now and he stays in wolf mode longer. that meter SHOULD be draining faster or regen’ a lot slower. look at hazama, his drive has practically zero weaknesses. he can fake a drive attack and retrack it for zero cost. when he does use one fully the regen timer is so fast he might as well not have a meter. being able to fight up close AND from far away with almost the same threat level is dumb. he’s an all-around character.
I don’t understand why Hazama even HAS a drive meter. It never seems to matter. No one EVER says “Oh, he’s out of chains, so he can’t do…<something>”. Frankly, I think it’s stupid.
And Valk’s wolf meter depletes a LOT faster now, and I don’t think it regens any faster.
I imagine so he can’t hit you once and then keep chaining at the top of the screen.
That must be it, because it sure doesn’t stop him from doing much of anything else.
Bang can hold his own against Jin and such. By no means is he the weakest. Remember, He fought Hazama and not only managed to escape, but to rescue Carl and Tao at the same time. Even Hazama was impressed.
Hm, the couple of times I remember Bang vs Jin, it always ended up with severe injuries on the part of the former, and “Pff, whatever, go away.” on the part of the latter.
No, that’s just plain wrong. His wolf regen actually got nerfed and you’ll see a lot of tournament Valky players losing wolf meter completely, struggling to maintain it, and going for a lot more command grabs (since a successful one regenerate’s his wolf meter completely).
And no, his meter should not be draining faster or regenerating slower. Especially considering all the other nerfs he got.
In Extend Valky had way more things going for him. He had godlike damage, he had godlike mix-up, and he had godlike meter build.
In CP, they completely nerfed his damage, nerfed his mix-up (by making his w.5A not hit low and nerfing his wolf regen), they nerfed his meter build (which consequently nerfed his defense since all his defensive options came at the cost of meter, those being his reversal super which they nerfed the damage of and his counter assault), etc.
Valky certainly did NOT deserve a wolf meter nerf. I don’t even know how he’s comparable to Hazama since he cannot zone with his drive, Valky’s gimmick is oppressive rushdown; that is it.
I will say that his w.5C/w.JC are looking like solid starters though.
I think Arc Sys has a quota where they have to overnerf one character per game. Either that or they have one guy on staff who instead of picking a few nerfs off the list, just goes “Oh screw it, put them all in.”
CP isn’t out on consoles, enough said.
The worst part is, Arcsys had to add insult to injury by completely nerfing my character and buffing Hakumen. It’s like they’re trolling me. And of course, Carl and Tao both needed buffs. I hope tournament Valky players don’t win anything or we may get even more nerfs, I don’t want my character to be the next Tsubaki.
Expect scrubby 8k midscreen easymode Hakumen OD combos online.
This is what I meant by the whole “I hope I’m being pre-mature” statement.
The console release is my trump card at this point. Still doesn’t change the fact that Valky is the only cast member who didn’t receive a new special move, though.
I’m expecting a patch prior to console release, really. At least, if they follow the P4A model.
Not sure the “Valk didn’t get a new special” complain is valid since he got multiple new normals. OTOH, Litchi got like six things, so whatever.
I’d certainly hope so, he doesn’t need to be Extend Valky status again (shouldn’t be); but a few buffs would be appreciated.
The thing about Valky’s new normals (w.JC and w.5C) is the fact that Arcsys HAD to give them to him to compensate for the w.5A nerf, which essentially weakens his mix-up (he does pretty good damage off of the new normals though).
Kinda lame though, a nice new special move with a sweet animation would have been amazing. And yeah, Litchi got A LOT; I really love her new super.
Arakune and his minions are the best.
I’m sure every Arakune main agrees with you, lol.
Eh. There are other ways they could’ve approached that, but yes, that’s the approach they chose.
I’m still a little bit cranky about them deciding to give Litchi a good AA AND putting it on 4B. In general, AAs in this game are either on 6Something or 2Something so that you have to do more than just push a button (and be safely blocking if you decide at the last minute not to do it.).
Why would they finally give Valk a move with cool animation?
The A version of straight through was already a pretty solid anti-air option with the staff. Not sure if she even needed 4B, but oh well.
Why can’t I have nice things?
Didn’t the A version of her straight through have a really good hitbox and startup too?
Pretty sure that the first hit has 12 frames of start-up.
The hitbox is pretty big, and it has solid horizontal/diagonal reach. Leads into about 2.5k meterless midscreen on average in Extend.
It’s 19 frames of startup - 12 just to go into “Straight Through” and then 7 more before the attack becomes active, assuming no time in between. The hitbox is fine, but the recovery is gruesome if they bait it. Still, it was servicable if you were good. Litchi didn’t NEED a stronger anti-air.
And you can’t have a cool looking move because none of Valk’s other moves are cool looking. (I tease, but I was actually pretty disappointed with Valk visually when he came out. I’m sure I already complained about how stupid the “Talbain Torpedo” is.) It’s his character weakness.
