Not really since there’s two different classes of infinites… One is a magic infinite using simply normal attacks which is quite common among standard characters. Then there’s the ROM infinite, an infinite entirely different which takes maybe even twice the ammount of effort to do.
Unless we do discribe every little detail the discussion’s going no where. It’s not that I’m defending the game I like most because quite frankly Marvel’s one of my least played games. Although I do think it’s the most skill demanding game, I’m just giving people something to talk about.
2D: MvC2 / GGXXSlash / Garou
3D: VF. nothing else comes close.
Mvc2: requires a lot of skill. especially when the game gets a little complicated when it comes to using your assists during the match. it’s broken indeed, but it does require a lot of skill and effort to be able to learn the game at a high-level
I feel that it is definitly between MvC2 and GG for most technical (not to take anything away from SF3 and the other fighters)
The thing that makes me think that MvC2 is more technical, is the team aspect, and the infinites. For GG I’d have to agree with PROFESSORLESTER’s list with the varying weights and mutli uses of meter.
I honestly don’t know much about MvC2 b/c I don’t like it all that much. So my opinion probably means nothing here. But I’m just curious why an argument is breaking out over this. Both are very technical. Double Star, everybody wins!
-a.
MVC2 is execution heavy but do you have to think? Honest question. Does your stragedy change at all or are you looking to run the same thing over and over again against all characters? Does it make a difference to you if you are fighting Ryu or Doom? Sure you have to block different things but do you attack exactly the same? Are there counter characters or just different attack patterns? If everyone’s ultimate goal pure confusion/ making your opponent unable to block ?
You guys should stop using the team thing as making a game more technical. Who doesn’t know how to use 3 characters.
I’m just going to go out on a limb and give KoF98 props for being a thinking man’s game.
I don’t think you know how to play MvC2. Sentinel vs Cable is a lot different then Sentinel vs Magneto.
And Magneto vs Sentinel without a anti-air assist is a whole lot different then Mangeto vs Sentinel with an anti-air assist.
The strategies constantly change depending on which character/assist combinations you are facing.
Justin Wong is the best MvC2 player in the world and it’s not because of his execution. It’s because of his ability to adapt to different strategies.
I never said I did. I did say I stopped playing the VS series when this game came out. I said this in the last page.
I watched a lot of his videos. I usually turned them off after 20 seconds as it’s usually the same thing for the next 20 seconds. I’ve never seen him adapting to anything. It’s always the same thing over and over again.
( Goes to youtube to confirm this. )
Honestly though. If that game was that technical, complicated and strategic. Justin should be the man at super turbo and at every fighting game that he plays. In a few months he should be capable of power bombing japanese players against game cabinets.
I could say the same thing about Roger Federer in Tennis but I know it’s not true.
If all Justin is doing is repeating the same thing each and every match… he wouldn’t be winning every tournament.
But since you don’t play the game it is understandable. It’s hard to figure out a game if you don’t actually play it. PS: I don’t play Tennis.
Considering that Justin placed top 8 in MvC2, CvS2, Tekken 5 at the last EVO tourney… and he’s placed top 8 in 3rd strike and ST at previous Evo tourneys… I’d say he’s a powerhouse already.
3D: VF.
2D: JoJo Bizarre Adventure, GGXX/, MVC2
Props to Justing. My bad, it’s not his fault there is a sea of people trying to play just like him with his characters. Now that I think about, it’s not that everyone plays the same. Everyone plays like a light version of Justin. Before you assholes start mentioning the few and proud that don’t. Don’t.
You are right ( About Wong being good period. ). ( Notice this is a second thought comming. ) That game is bonkers. I think you have to be asian to be good at that game. I’m so out of touch with that scene that I still think Marvel vs Street Fighter to be the height of that series.
I won’t comment because I think the statement above already does a good job in making you sound like a popcorn fart.
I never said the game was bonkers. And you don’t have to be asian to be good at the game. Top 8 at Evo was a mix of black/white/hispanic/asian.
And finally, anyone who states that MvsSF is the height of the series automatically means that they aren’t qualified to even comment on the Versus series.
I hear you. Popcorn fart?.. You were raised by your grandparents, weren’t you?
Hey, let’s not bring Federer into this!
And comparing Tennis to MvC2? lol!
Ha ha, yeah. I’m super emo. I’m going to cut my girlfriends names on my arms now.
Sorry if I seem absent minded. I got a cat form the humane society yesterday and I’m trying to calm him down. He keep meowing and stressed. I guess it’s cause we let him out of the guest room.
Edit: She’s better now. I finnaly have someone that will love me for who I am. Sniff, she won’t hurt me like my first gf. Sniff.
So your argument is more complicated combos = the more technical game? combos are the most basic level of any game there diffuclty makes absolutley no difference what so ever at a higher level. and sol is a scrub character, combo wise. hes designed to be easy, try learning I-no and mays combos, then you’ll see how diffuclt gg combos can be. and anyways which game has harder combos means nothing, combos are just the base, the simpiliest aspect of every game…there level of diffuclty has no refelction on the games depth. some total garbage game could have combos with multiple 1 frame windows for 50 seconds to make a 5 hit combo, and that would mean a hard combo, but it wouldnt mean that the game is technicaly good.
Lol I love how the arguments over 2D fighting technicallity are super intense while 3D is like “Do we really need to argue that VF isn’t the best??” lol
Oh about smash, Peach is high tier with or without items. In fact a Japanese Peach beat both SepirothKen and Isai once. Peach is hella fucking annoying to play against. Turnips are a bitch, her edge guard is retarded, and CC into dsmash is the single stupidest tactic in the game next to Shiek strats. Smash is definately not a technical as other 2D fighters but it’s still a very good game, and IMO it’s really cool to watch even without items at high levels.
If I had to rate 3D fighting games on the technical scale I’d probably say
1.) VF
2.) TTT
3.) I’d tie between T5/T5DR/DoA3.1/DoA4
4.) SC2 then SC3 ( I haven’t played the arcade one yet but I heard some good things)
Can I see vids on this? Where can I read good Melee strats?
as always ^
There are some very good peach players out there such as Vidjo, Wife, Mikael, and Hella.
