Very very nice. And last night I came up w/ such a sick team idea, Wolverine Akuma Tron. But now I can’t help but feel Wolverine Sentinel Tron could be just as good. Gonna have to soul search a bit, I could make a very strong case both ways : / Might just play both depending on opponent/matchup <shrug> All I know is both ways are REALLY fun and REALLY good.
Upon entrance of combatant, I like calling a low hitting assist while simultaneously following with a sj. cancel into dive kick, gets alot of em. Nice for mixing up it up every now and then and keeping them guessing.
Certainly things like j. drill claw + dive kick can lock down those air dashers and put you in great positioning which is key. Naturally, berserker slash crossups + assist are higher on the priority list.
Is the timing and input sequence, both for midscreen and corner (since I believe they are different), for the df+M + Tatsu assist pickup the same for throws and for air combos ending with jS? I’m missing both far too often and not really sure why.
Likewise, I had no idea till this past weekend that Wolve can get more hits out of his throw by mashing H. That seems to change the timing on the Tatsu combo pickup. Can anyone clarify once and for all how Wolverine can use a Tatsu to turn OTG situations into launch combos? Thanks!
Edit: Im in training now and in fact I’m missing way more than not on both throw and air MMHS OTG situations. I was under the impression it was throw/jS, land, immediately call Tastsu, immediately dash, immediately df+M. Seems I was wrong I guess?
divekick can be low blocked so many people will see that coming. try jumping light instead.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d be a sucker not trying to utilize a low hitting assist for an instant overhead against the rest of the cast It’s just for purposes of mixing up the offense, aside from the assist + b.slash xx b.charge and/or instant overhead shenanigans which are indeed priorities. You’d be suprised how many it actually catches, especially given tight spacing and the speed of deadpool’s alpha assist.
If you throw or knockdown into midscreen, then that will not work generally. Tatsu will not completely connect (or connect at all) in that case.
Instead, do: (From Knockdown or Throw) Dash :a1: (Tatsu), (Optional Dash) :df: ~ etc.
If you call assist too early (i.e. before dashing) midscreen, then Akuma appears too far from the opponent.
In some cases, you may need to call assist after/during the second dash.
Please forgive me: what is “plink” dashing?
“plinking” means hitting the two buttons 1 frame apart - so hold one finger higher than the other and then push down so that the second one is a tiny bit later.
Now my own: If at the beginning of the match I jump and tap(spam) :df::h:, will it air grab, tech air grabs, dive kick, or be awesome and do all 3 (grab/tech if they jump, and dive kick if they stay low)?
@GM Dak: I see. Thanks for clearing that up!
It will grab/tech if they jump up and you’re in range and will dive kick if grabbing isn’t possible.
Anyone have tips on how to get in on say sent-assisted full screen zoning/pressure? I’m ready to burst a vein when I get kept out by Sent Drones/Em Disruptor. Then after I get in its fine, but what do I do to stop them from just running away again and put them into my own pressure?
Ya I think this is one of wolvies only weakness u need a good assist to help u come in from the ground also beserker slash through projectiles but its risky. Cuz he could have called an assist or he could just cancel into super. I perfer super jumping to midscreen then work my way from there but then again I also have dooms beam backing me up. But if u super jump right to them ur putting urself in a guessing situation because u can’t see what they’re doing it can be turned into a kind of instant high, low, back, forward mixup or he could call a sent like assist and u into a mixup situation. And people have been abusing sj dive kick so only do it every once in a while when u no they are attacking by them selves or u have a good assist backing u up imo. And to keep up pressure make them afraid to push buttons, I use dive kick block strings, calling assist while doing something unsafe in a blockstring, instant overhead setups with assist, random beserker slashes w/ charge or assist. and make it count when u do get it
This is working as an awesome opener for me now. jump,:df::h: at the beginning, if it grabs, :a1:,:df:,,:s:, full combo. If divekick hits, full combo. If it techs, divekick again. Only potential trouble if they immediately low block and punish.
My team got killed by a person who just used berserker slash and sentinel force assist the entire time when his Dante got knocked out and it killed all 3 of my team. I currently main Deadpool (Katanarama) Zero (ryuenjin) and Sentinel (Sentinel force). I was using Deadpool, Zero, and Dormammu instead when this happened. I would not consider myself a good player and I want to learn how. How can I get around this berseker slash problem? Any help would be appreciated.
You just have to anticipate and block Wolverine not Sentinel. Even if the drones are hitting you in the back if you’re blocking in the direction of their point character the drones won’t hit. Also, super jump if you see Sent drones, you’re asking for it a berserker slash if you’re just taken the drones in the face.
Well before you get insulted by people for making this thread, good luck.
Deadpool main myself here there are a couple important things to remember:
-
You can prevent assists from coming out if you super on reaction. X-factor and repeat if you want to kill him. Jumping m.guns does a pretty good job of stuffing him too.
-
Having a projectile that stays out for a long time will stuff berserker slash. So if you get sent drones out, you’ll be safe.
Q&A
Thats why we have it.
We dont need threads for every single topic.

Now I know he’s not meant to be an assit character, but when he’s not in the battle field what’s his best assist? All of them seem pretty bad.
Akuma’s been my assist since I got the game… for Wesker, trish and now Wolvie
Oh no my bad. I meant what’s the best way to use Wolve AS an actual assist character?
Like out of his 3 assist options which one is the best one? He has Berzerker Slash, Berzerker Barrage, and Tornado Claw. None of them seem that useful though…
I use slash for the chance that it may cross them up when applying pressure with another character. But it’s rare I call wolvie assist anyways.
