When there’s salt, there’s something to pass over…

Bleh, beating people with this Jack-X/Ogre team and still no hate-mail. The closest I’m getting is that the guys I beat seem to go offline immediately afterwards, but I don’t think that really counts since I can’t tell if they’re quitting out of rage or they’re just taking a break.
Or if GFWL crashed their game while they were trying to send hatemail
Balance thread in one tab, this thread in the other. SRK: We Know Drama.
Anyone who still thinks you can “spam” stuff in fighting games really doesn’t know much. The only legitimate thing you could spam in SFxT was Cody’s cr. lk and Jack’s surprise attack. Both have been remedied. If a tool is not broken and its being “spammed”, then you just suck for not figuring a way out of it. This is in response to some people above saying you can “spam” shit.
You obviously never played a brazilian Ken player mashing lp srk in SF4
I’ve played a boat-load of awful SF4 Kens. Honestly, never had a problem punishing his SRK since I practiced against it in HDR. It had even less recovery in HDR, lol. As I said, if a single move isn’t broken then it cannot be spammed without consequence. That’s why I cringe when I see people describing a fighting game in that way.
But dat brazil lag…
I know in normal circumstances pretty much no moves are broken in either SF4 or SFxT (maybe hard to punish sure, but not exactly broken)
Yup, agreed. I just hate the scrub mentality with this new generation of players.
“Oh, he just sits in the corner with Guile and spams fireballs.”
See, what a scrub fails to realize is that Guile is the corner, the worst defensive spot. A good player notices this and capitalizes. Ah well, either way…
LOL somebody just messaged me and called me a coward after I refused playing with him because of his red connection. What a badass, they would say. I hope he’s that badass if he’s challenged in a real fight.
As long as their PC is good I found that I can have good matches even with red connection
I actually played against him once, and there’s input lag resulting in me losing the match because my combo dropped and my launcher got blocked. I actually don’t remember what exactly happened during that match, but I could say that it’s unpleasant.
When I accept red connection matches I cross my fingers hoping that the lag will be in my favor. It hasn’t been lately. XD
Heh, I just found out that I was playing AE for about a year with 5+ frames of input delay even offline. SF X TK as well. Apparently, on the PC version of both games, if you have vsync on, you get input delay of 5 frames or even more. I’m surprised I didn’t notice that until now.
I think there’s a way to have vsync on and have no input delay, but I haven’t found a solution to it on my PC.
On topic, still no hate-mail. PC too tame.

“spam” is pretty much not knowing your character and doing the same yolo move or string over and over because fuck it you dont know any real setups so might as well mash jab and call it a frametrap or jump back fireball when i get a hard KD and call it zoning. its almost 100% an online thing because most of it is or should be punishable.
example : EMR loves injustice because of all the projectile/environment “SPAM” add the shitty netcode and u might just have his favorite and best game.

Yeah some players take online way too serious. I once ran into a Br player and since he had 4 bars and there was barely anyone else I accepted… that lag was just terrible. Crazy lag and rollbacks demotivate me so I practically threw the game away and lost. Then I got matched up with the same guy, but I left that time. Few seconds later he sends me a pm: “Fear?”

If I’m Guile and it pays for me to play defensively, why wouldn’t I sit back and throw sonic booms? If you’re playing ST as Dee-Jay and facing Honda, why would you rush-down when you have an 8-2 matchup if you stay back? Also, its painfully obvious to me that rush-down is superior to defensive fireball play in SFxT. I just don’t sympathize players who whine about fireball spam in this game because its just not that strong. Same with SF4. Modern fighters not named Mortal Kombat give you many tools to evade fireball traps.
As for Injustice? Again, disagree. The players complaining about spam in that game just don’t know how to play it. For every DarkSydePhil bitching about Deathstroke, you have guys uploading videos on how to evade Deathstroke’s attacks. Hell, I haven’t even played the game and I was seeing the flaws in the way people were approaching Deathstroke just through video.
Did Deathstroke shoot? Block, dash forward. He has recovery after his guns. Are you close to him? Bait his spinning move, its very unsafe. Is he knocked down? Bait his wake-up. I can’t tell you how many times DSP kept falling for that same wake-up shit, lol. Again, its not spamming. The player receiving it doesn’t know shit. I don’t think you appreciate how weak fireballs are compared to how strong they used to be. ST is the last SF game where I’ve truly felt HELPLESS against fireballs in certain matchups. SF4 Sagat gets the honorable mention but he no longer exists.
Now, my last point. How is spamming YOLO fireballs any different than spamming Cannon Strike in SF4 and hoping to land a combo? Same shit, no?
Don’t get so wrapped in what players use as derogatory terms to describe other players Noriega, you’re just gonna get confused, and potentially hurt yourself.
I don’t care how it describes players. And I assume you think I’m some turtle-king, right? Ask Intuitive, Eggy, Saitsu, Roknin, Mapleleaf and co. if I sit back and spam all day. I’ve played them all and plan to do so again in the near-future.
I just think the word “spam” is not necessary. It undermines defensive play. Also, I sent you a PM wayyyyy back showcasing video proof that fireballs are not as dominant in SFxT after you accused me of being misguided or whatever it was (you used some sarcasm very similar to your present comment of me “hurting myself”). You never bothered replying. So I really have nothing to discuss with you, personally.
Sure, you can sit back and mindlessly spam any move. But any player worth his weight will expose you. Therefore, you should be happy if someone sits back and spams. I know I am. That’s why I don’t classify anything as spam unless the move is broken in itself. FOR EXAMPLE, I did think that Jack-X’s surprise attack was a bit too good, same with Cody’s cr. lk.
So, are you the type of player that thinks Deathstroke is spamming and should be nerfed, or are you the type that finds out how to beat him? And yes, there are Youtube videos floating of players figuring out strats to beat him.
The whole basis of your fireball thing was that you wanted people to “show respect” for what boiled down to being your style of play. I told you players will acknowledge it as a style of play, but that basically begging for it to be respected is something you shouldn’t waste your time doing…
Seriously, get over trying to refine definitions of slang terms for shitty play. It just gets boring saying “This guy plays like shit” over and over, so players will get creative within their own circles. This isn’t something that needs to be explained, we’re not arguing what the definition of a “jump” is.
Proving that fireball games weren’t as dominant in SFxT was a waste of time on your part too. Fireball games have suffered since they started adding dashes, parries, rolls(CVS2) 12+ years ago… Maybe you had some epiphany during this game, but common fighting game sense should have told you that fireballing/zoning done as an exclusive style of play in this wasn’t particularly optimal. Use it pervasively at the expense of doing everything else(like rushdown, being opportunistic), you’re gonna lose. You’ll always lose.
Unlike Captain Hatemail, I don’t judge players based on terminology used for insults, I base it on their play. I can’t recall playing you since 2013 update, I’ve seen a few vids from before that, and looked like you were either unwilling to ramp up pressure when you needed to, or you didn’t know how, and it became about the system instead of the player being willing to embrace multiple styles of play. That was the point you had trouble grasping, much as tried to explain it.
