No

Its a controversial matchup.
Most of the Seth/Seth lovers will say Sakura’s favour, most of the the Sakura/Sakura lovers will say Seth’s favour…
Seems, on paper Seth wins because his rushdown is difficult to stop but in reality Sakura has the big damaging combos that can kill him real fast given just 1/2 or 3 opportunities.
Seeing Poongko lose to a few Sakuras is definitely not justifiable proof that Sakura > Seth.
Pretty silly.

seth vs sakura is 5-5, its a matter of who can keep the other person away and prevent them from doing damage

All of them really.

Dudley
-12 target combos (Counting on someone to find uses for em all)
-good pressure
-Counter
-Short Swing Blow
-Dat Overhead
-Godlike Damage

inb4 Wait for Tut

I distinctly remember in the Evo commentary this year the guys saying that Dudley is unsalvageable, unusable, flat our worthless. Don’t know if it’s true, he feels solid to me on a basic level but high level play is all about minutiae.

You know, someone could TRY to come up with their own stuff, instead of waiting for it to be handed to them…?

Just on the Seth/Sakura thing.

I play Sakura and I can say she beats Seth, damage/stun output is too much for him and one combo leads to 40-50% into a 50/50 situation and Seth struggles to AA her.

She doesn’t have any unblockables on Seth as far as I know, but she has plenty of nasty 50/50s.

And yeah, Sakura’s buffs didn’t really change anything about her, 2 hit air tatsu is nice though for A2A but uncommon. 1/2 frame less recovery on her lvl 2/3 charged fireball and 2 hit air tatsu seems to be the most significant changes to her (which isn’t really a lot)

SSB doesnt work on everyone but i see what you mean

The reason dudley isnt used much in tournies is because

-Great dmg but T-rex range on his pokes with odd hitboxes
-Loses to most of the cast
-He loses to low pokes (Cammy Sakura)
-His pressure is godlike but come on now do you really think someone wont mash out?
-characters with Crazy pressure (Seth Cammy Sakura Ibuki Akuma) give him hell
-The knockdown into overhead is risky

But ill still love this characters and tournament Dudley players like Kuroken Inspire me

Is it really risky? It’s -1 on block and in case of focus, that target combo can break it.

-1? maybe they changed it cause in super everytime an opponent blocked overhead i always got Dp’d

According to the wiki for Super it was -1 there, and the patchnotes don’t mention anything about a frame data change. Also I just tested the overhead and reversal DP is blocked.

I agree about his losing to low pokes, but his options against pressure are actually a lot better than many characters. Namely Cody (who has a similar sort of game plan as Dudley but less Mobility/defense than Dudley while having better armor break options and pokes.) and Guy.

The range on his pokes is great, but a lot of his normals do have odd hitboxes. s.HP, F-HP, f-MP, F-LP and c.LP all have good range and hitboxes. The catch is that most of them lose to lows (except c.LP obviously) Also his Focus Attack has amazing speed and range.

IMO what really keeps Dudley back is the fact that he doesn’t have great armor break options. Ducking straight has a great hitbox, but isn’t really a strong on demand armor breaker due to the startup added from the dash. Machine Gun Blow is a decent armor breaker (due to multi hits, not natively being an armor breaker) but it doesn’t lead into anything unless he uses EX and that has an 18F startup and requires meter.

I do think Dudley is underrated though.

i just Wish Capcom gave dudley a little more love, like give him a armor breaking SSB and make the start up of Cross counter Faster. You’re He is a better version of cody though

Agreed, but I also wish that they’d give Cody some more love in the areas he needs it (they buffed the heck out of his knife in AE2012 but for the most part they did all the WRONG buffs.) I never understood why they made it in SF that Cody drops his knife when doing a throw, he could throw people in Final Fight without dropping his knife. Also I wonder when Cody lost his knee drop move (FF1 jump hit down+attack in mid air, alters jump arc slightly can cross up and can continue to combo after landing)

yeah since i play cody too,i wish they would buff his backdash and reduce the Recovery on some of his moves.I i love the character but hes difficult to win matches with

Gen.

When he get’s going his mix-up and combo potential is pretty impressive. And when someone has complete control over the Oga wall dive it can be really hard to stop them getting in. His attacks blow up a lot of armour / focus, and his reversal kicks are solid. Two Ultra’s are cool, and he can combo into both of them quite easily for HUUUUGE damage.

In ae2012 I thought charge characters aren’t tournament worthy. It was all about the mixup/vortex monsters Ibuki, Seth, Akuma or High damage/stun characters like Makoto or Cammy and perhaps sakura.
I must say PR Rog and Dieminion really surprised me at EVO 2012 !!! Or when I watch Dogura play Bison with his inconventional style, his weird autocorrected charge tricks, it’s sick.
It’s really all about matchup knowledge and passion, just stick to the characters you like.

Dude you are so wrong about Gen. his mixup potential is not great, just average. Oga is fucking risky once your oponent know the matchup and easy to anti air as fuck. he has only oga as armor breaker special (two hits moves also count) his reversal kicks are useless unless ex. Two Ultras are EXTREMELY hard to combo into without super. The only thing going for gen is his great normals and thats it. his damage output is very poor
